This September, a week before Pope Francis visits Philadelphia, The Franklin Institute will open Vatican Splendors: A Journey through Faith and Art. Vatican Splendors is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to view works of art by some of history’s most celebrated

artists, and to explore an extraordinary collection of historical and religious objects, many never before seen by the general public. THE LAST REEF 3DThrough September

The Last Reef takes you on a journey to a distant yet parallel world habited by coral reefs—some of the most diverse ecosystems in the world. MYSTERIES OF THE UNSEEN WORLD 3D

Through September Let us transport you to the microscopic world once reserved only for scientists. Produced by National Geographic Entertainment and narrated by Forest Whitaker, Mysteries of the Unseen World allows you to experience phenomena that occur in the flash of a microsecond, continually escaping the naked eye. Explore a spectacular universe of scientific wonders made possible by high-speed and time-lapse photography, electron microscopy, and nanotechnology. (40 minutes)

PREHISTORIC PLANET: WALKING WITH DINOSAURS 3D Through September

Journey back in time to the Cretaceous period of Alaska 70 million years ago to meet dinosaurs as you’ve never seen them. Through amazing 3D CGI, experience that world full of an incredible variety of dinosaurs, most of whom have never been seen on the big screen before. Watch them feed, play, migrate, and hunt, as if it were a true wildlife film that was captured 70 million years ago. How much do we know about these creatures and how can we build on our discoveries and imagination to create a truly believable and life-like prehistoric world? (20 minutes)

JOURNEY TO SPACE Opens June 20

Journey to Space puts into historical context the magnificent contributions made by the Space Shuttle program and its intrepid space pioneers. Featuring unique views of Earth and operations in space, Journey to Space wows with spectacular space footage and shows how the Shuttle launched and assembled the International Space Station (ISS). Together, these programs have taught us how to live, build, and conduct science in space. (42 minutes)

HUMPBACK WHALES Through December

An extraordinary journey into the mysterious world of one of nature’s most awe-inspiring marine mammals, Humpback Whales takes audiences to Alaska, Hawaii, and the Kingdom of Tonga for an immersive look at how these whales communicate, sing, feed, play, and take care of their young. Captured for the first time with IMAX cameras, join a team of researchers as they unlock the secrets of the humpback, life size on our giant screen. (40 minutes)

JERUSALEM Through December

The Franklin Institute invites you to discover the heart of the world! National Geographic’s Jerusalem takes you on a journey into the ancient city that’s been beloved by people of so many different religious faiths. Narrated by Benedict Cumberbatch, Jerusalem gives you a first-hand perspective of the land’s iconic sites, from its ancient valleys to its vibrant neighborhoods and beyond. (45 minutes)
