Mark Your Calendars! Hope Lutheran Church is bringing The Rock to Lake Weir Middle School

At Lake Weir Middle School, about 100 students each week

ask for food donations to help feed their siblings and families at home. 80% of the children around Hope Lake Weir Campus qualify for free or reduced lunch. Some of the children come from broken homes and don’t have adequate food, clothing, hygiene products, or emotional support. Others are dealing

with family drug and substance abuse.

Many do not know Christ.

After meeting with Lake Weir Middle School principal Brian Greene, Pastor Rani and the Mission Outreach team

have decided to establish an assistance pantry resource in the school. The Rock is a school-church partnership where the

school provides space on its campus for the church to open a pantry that provides food, clothing, school supplies, hygiene products, emotional support and most important, the love of

Christ to children in need.

This program has already been established by local business owners at Belleview Middle School, where The Rock program serves about 25 students a day. Volunteers operate The Rock

from 8:30am to 1:00pm twice a week. Three volunteers are needed for each shift.

Hope Lutheran Church is ready to establish The Rock at

Lake Weir Middle School, but we need YOUR help!

Be part of this forming ministry and attend the first meeting of The Rock Volunteer Team on Tuesday, November 13th at

2:00pm in Room 203 of the Hope Central Campus. Sign up in the Event Sign-Up Center. If you are interested in supporting or

volunteering with this ministry but cannot attend the first meeting, please sign up anyway, and include your

contact information.

For more information, contact Fred O’Brien, Mission Outreach team member, at 326-8274.

During this year’s Joy of Giving Weekend, Hope will again be offering

Texas Roadhouse gift cards for purchase!

10% of every gift card purchase goes back to the church! As an added bonus, anyone who buys a gift

card for $30 or more will receive a FREE appetizer card.

Stop by the Joy of Giving event to purchase your gift cards this weekend!

The next Dine to Donate evening at Texas Roadhouse will be Tuesday, November 13th

from 3:00pm to 9:30pm.

Texas Roadhouse will donate 10% of your total food purchases to Hope Lutheran Church. You MUST pick up

your invitation in the Narthex prior to November 13th. We can no longer distribute invitations at the restaurant.

Gather to Give Thanks…the Women of Hope Board welcomes all women to our monthly breakfast on

November 15th at 8:30am in the Fellowship Hall ($3.00 at the door) at Hope Central Campus. During the breakfast Pastor Rani Abdulmasih, our new Associate Pastor, will

speak about his life journey to Hope Lutheran.

Beginning at 10:00am, we will transition to the Sanctuary where Pastor Keith Koppenhofer will lead our WELCA

Thank Offering Service, “Ever and Anew”.

Please remember to sign up in the Narthex or contact Karen O’Brien by November 11th

([email protected] or (352) 326-8274) to make your reservation.

Looking ahead, mark your calendar for the Women of Hope Catered Christmas Breakfast at Hope Central on

December 6th and a Christmas Open House on December 17th at Dave and Kay Miller’s to see an almost countless number of decorated trees. Come check it out on Monday, December 17th from 12:00pm to 5:00pm at

17569 SE 90th Clemson Circle in the Village of Springdale in the Villages, FL.

This week, Pastor Dean Piper continues his H.O.P.E. University series on the Gospel of Matthew. This series will allow us to further develop themes from Matthew’s

Gospel and study this Gospel in more depth and detail, to complement the message we hear each Sunday.

H.O.P.E. University meets Tuesdays at 6:00pm and Wednesdays at 10:00am. For a complete H.O.P.E.

University course listing, pick up a flier in the Narthex or visit our website www.hope2all.org.

Support Group: Managing Stressors & Strong Emotions During the Holidays

The holiday season can be an exciting time filled with activities, time with loved ones, warm traditions, and

wonderful memories.

But for some, this season is very stressful, conjuring up anxiety and often sadness and depression. If you find

yourself overwhelmed or saddened during the holidays, you are NOT alone.

Please join us for a 4-week Support Group that will focus on managing stressors and strong emotions during the holidays. We will meet on Tuesday, November 27th,

Tuesday, December 4th, THURSDAY, December 13th, and Tuesday, December 18th from 10:00am to 11:30am

in Room 203 at the Hope Central Campus.

All sessions will be facilitated by Jennifer Bloom, M.S., RMFTI, of Lutheran Counseling Services.

For further questions or to RSVP, please call Jennifer at (407) 644-4692.

The Seasonal Decorating Team will need LOTS of volunteers to decorate the

church prior to the Cantata!

The BIG decorating day will be Wednesday, November 28th beginning at 8:00am. Each area to

be decorated will have a leader and the jobs are quite easy. Please come and help make Hope beautiful for

the Christmas Season.

Please sign up on the sheet in the narthex. If you have questions, contact Nancy Shephard at 750-9642.

2018 Christmas Cantata December 1st at 8:00pm

December 2nd at 3:00pm & 6:00pm

The Cantata Choir will once again join the Voices of Hope for our annual Cantata presentation over the

weekend of December 1st & 2nd.

This year our title will be “Holding on to Christmas”.

Shared memories and more are at the center of this new Christmas musical. This delightfully charming, “comfort-the-soul” musical is a warm invitation to “come sit by the fireside, wrap up in your favorite

Christmas blanket, and reminisce about Christmas” as, together, we celebrate family and friends, and most importantly, the Savior who was born so long

ago on that first Christmas night in Bethlehem.

Tickets for the Cantata will be distributed first during the Joy of Giving weekend at Central Campus.

Please visit the Central Campus Fellowship Hall before or after any service to participate in Joy of Giv-

ing and receive your Cantata tickets.

Tickets will also be available November 17th and 18th after every weekend service. After November 18th,

remaining tickets will be available at the church office.

Tickets are limited to FOUR per family.

There will be a special performance ONLY for our congregation during the 11:30am

church service on Sunday, December 2nd. Tickets are not necessary to attend the

11:30am performance.

The regular meeting for the On Our Own group will be held on Wednesday, November 14th. We will be packing snack packs at 11:00am in the narthex for The Villages Elementary School of Lady Lake, have lunch and a brief meeting at noon in the Fellowship Hall and then return to the Narthex to assemble the gift baskets for the

visiting pastors to distribute to members of the Hope congregation that are shut-ins.

It's amazing how fast the season has come upon us. Please come out and give your support - it is greatly needed. Bringing cheer to so many that need something to make them smile at this time of year with this project and the Christmas Angel trees is something our group has done each year and Lynn Voelkle has done a great job in coordinating with all the people that are involved. Please come and lend your support and help us make this project a huge success.

Mary Jane Bucci and Cora Taylor are again taking responsibility for our lunch. If you plan to attend, please add your name to the sign up sheet in the On Our Own folder in the Narthex. If you are unable to sign up and plan to join us for lunch please contact Mary Jane at 750-4624.

On Our Own welcomes all who are alone, (single, widowed, divorced) and caregivers or others that may be separated from their families. If you would like to get involved, please come and join us. We have a lot of activities planned for the next few months that may interest you. For more information, please contact Shirley Eick at 633-0560.

Volunteers are STILL NEEDED to help prep for this week’s Thanksgiving Feast social supper!

Due to medical emergencies, the Hope kitchen staff is without two prep volunteers for Wednesday’s supper. We are seeking several volunteers who can assist in

kitchen prep on Monday, November 12th and/or Tuesday, November 13th.

If you can help, please contact Chef Debbie at

[email protected] or call the church office at (352) 750-2321.
