K-2 RICE DAY

Well done to all our students in K-2 who brought in a gold

coin donation and had a cup of rice. There were lots of

thumbs up at lunch time. Also, a HUGE thank you to all

the parents who assisted us with bringing in rice cookers

yesterday. It was also great to see our Mini Vinnie

students giving generously of their time and being such

great role models with the younger children. We will give

a total of the money raised for Project Compassion next

week, after our Years 3-6 Rice Day.

YEARS 3-6 RICE DAY Wednesday 15th

March

It’s not too late if you would like to order a cup of rice for

Project Compassion if you’re in Years 3-6. Extra forms

will be available in the office.

Don’t forget to bring in your gold coin.

SACRAMENTAL ENROLMENT WEEKEND

All students in Years 3, 4 and 6 need to attend one Mass

over this weekend at St Francis of Assisi Church. All

students need to bring along the Enrolment Form and

place it in the basket at the back of the Church. After the

homily, Father will invite the children and parents to make

their commitment. If you can’t make Mass this weekend

please see Mrs Keddie for further information.

PRE-PRIMARY NEWS Last Wednesday, the Pre-Primary students attended the ‘Ash Wednesday Mass’ with the rest of the school. The children behaved most reverently and their Year 5 buddies looked after them very well! During this time of Lent, we have been discussing our Lenten promises and ways in which we can do kind things for others. On Friday, we attended a ‘MJR’ whole school activity, organised by Mrs Keddie and the Year 5 students. Once again, the Pre-Primary children took part with great enthusiasm and confidence! Yesterday, the children participated in ‘Rice Day’ where they received a bowl of rice, in solidarity with children who suffer from hunger and malnutrition around the world. Our ‘gold coin donations’ will be given to Project Compassion. Thank you to all students for their generous donations. This week our parent helper roster started and we welcomed Kody’s dad, Mr White, in to our class. Thank you to all parents for your support and help with our class activities!

YEAR 2 NEWS

This week the children have started presenting their homework sheet on ‘My Mixtures’. The children have provided many examples of mixtures that we use every day in our homes. We are looking forward to seeing how many mixtures will be identified.

Yesterday, many of the children ate a small portion of rice

for their lunch as part of us developing an understanding

of how little some people eat in their daily lives. Well done

to Mrs Keddie and the Mini Vinnies who assisted. A job

well done! To assist those less fortunate we have a

Project Compassion money box on our prayer table and

welcome any donations.

Just a reminder to those who have yet to do so, that Cool

Pool Day permission slips need to be returned. We are

looking forward to our first Cool Pool Day!

YEAR 6 NEWS

We have lots of exciting events coming up in the next few

weeks in Year 6. Next Friday, the Year 6 class will be

representing the school at the T20 Cricket Carnival at

Raphael Park in Victoria Park. This will be a round robin

event running all day and we will be leaving on the bus at

9.00am. Unfortunately, we will be unable to attend the

Year 4 assembly.

Thank you for returning camp permission slips and forms.

We are looking forward to heading off on our camp

adventure in a few weeks. Could you please sign and

return all sheets, particularly medical forms, even if you

have no information to complete for your child. Thank

you.

Michelle Rogers
