My target is to increase turnover in order to raise the profitability and profile of the company, which will enable the company to take on larger contracts such as Local Authorities, Universities etc

2010 – 2011 Systegration Ltd - Sales EngineerSales of Non Destructive Metrology Equipment for manufacturing industries and materials science - X-ray, laser optical confocal microscope, hardness testers, and laser profilometers. Companies I sold to included car manufactures and suppliers, Universities, laboratories, test houses. Medical equipment manufacturers, electronic equipment manufacturers, paint and ink manufacturers and steel stockholders. I was brought in to open up markets especially in to the manufacturing industries. I covered 100 miles radius of Birmingham. I planned my days, researched leads, visited my prospective customers; demonstrated equipment, observed how they were doing the job then recommended our equipment with the benefits outlined whether it be cost or time. I negotiated and followed through to delivery and commission.

2007- 2009 Kasto UK Ltd – Area Sales Engineer - www.kasto.uk.com I worked as an Area Sales Engineer selling CNC automatic handling and CNC sawing lines. My area was from Liverpool over to the west coast down to Mid Wales and over to the West Mids up the M6. This area had not been covered for 6 years so involved a lot of updating of the systems and database and just getting around to meet existing customers and new customers. Due to the economic climate I was made redundant even though I had at the end reached my sales target and had over £1,000,000 new enquires

2005 -2007 Alternative Waste Solutions Ltd - BuyerI worked as a buyer of recycled material such as paper, cardboard plastics and metalsAWS Ltd had invested in a state of the art recycling plastic bottle plant and needed to buy plastic bottles to keep the plant working 24 hours a day 7 days a week at a rate of 5 tonnes per hour. My job was to fill the production. I worked for them for just over 14 months, My area was from Lincoln to North Wales down the M40 to the M25 and over to East Coast. From a virgin area with 5 tonne a month at the start to 3500 tonnes a month plus many thousands of tonnes of other material. Companies I purchased materials from ranged from Councils to large waste companies and large manufacturing companies such as Rolls Royce and Landover

2004 -2006 Diametric Metal Fabrication LtdCommercial-Sales Manager to look at sales, purchasing, costing and ways of making savings for the company as they were stuck with no future growth and had lost 2 very large orders. The first thing I looked at was savings, within 2 weeks I saved them £80,000 by regaining t lost orders so that they could compete. I then moved onto sales, I looked at the largest company within their industry and contacted them. I started to get small orders from the company and I got back 50% of the lost orders. Before leaving I completed an order for £ 1,000,000 which I had started 12months before, bring them well over £5,000.000 turnover.

1994-2004 Brown’s Saws and YLM (UK)Here I worked for myself in machine tool sales, I have had agencies for CNC tube bending and automatic saws, I also sold used machines of all types. I had to do all aspects of sales and many machine tool exhibitions, Cold calling, telemarketing, planning areas, invoicing, advertising, importing, and also demonstrating at exhibitors in-house and at merchants.

1982 – 1994 Addison Saws - Area Sales Eng – www.addisonsaws.com I covered the West Midlands and Warwickshire area, I sold manual/semi automatic sawing machines to end users and merchants and large automatic sawing systems to end users, I planned my area by ringing for appointments, meeting customers at their works. I would always look for applications that I could improve for them setting up a demo which I would do myself or I would take them into an end user. I have worked at many exhibitions in-house, merchants and International machine tool exhibitions in the 12 years I worked at Addison Saws. I obtained the highest growth in turnover and profit for 12 years. When I started the turn over for small saws manual/semi auto was £60,000 in my first year my turnover was £180,000. When I left my turnover was over £2,000,000 with the smaller machine costing £1,000. The average cost of machine was £4,000 the larger machines £50,000 +.

1980 -1982 Spit FixingsWhile employed here I was Internal Sales Consultant, I would take orders from the phone and trade counter. I would demo machines and fixings in store or on site, pack and despatch orders while maintaining and servicing machines. I opened and closed the shop every day; I would also pass over sales leads to the area sales engineers and take all types of phone calls.

1975 – 1980 Dyse Developments LtdHere I was an apprentice toolmaker, I did a 5 year apprenticeship in a contract tool room I can mill, turn, drill, jig bore, grind, bench fit, and inspect, I can manufacture a press tool form start to finish.

Interests and ActivitiesI have a strong interest in photography. I have self-managed building my own house 3 times and I enjoy boating.
