ARRIVINGLos Cabos International Airport (IATA: SJD) is located outside of San Jose del Cabo and is approximately 30-45 minutes to Cabo SanLucas. Whether arriving in a private boat or a cruise ship, the marina is an official Mexican port of entry. The beautiful San Lucas Bayis deep enough for cruise ships to anchor, shuttling passengers to the basin for tours and excursions. Private yacht masters must have atitle for their vessel, proof of citizenship and appropriate clearance from the original point of departure. A visit to the immigration officefor tourist-entry forms for each passenger as well as a temporary import permit from the customs office is mandatory.

ABOUT CABO SAN LUCASCabo San Lucas is a small city at the southern tip of the state of Baja California Sur, Mexico. Since the construction of theTranspeninsular Highway, Cabo San Lucas has become a high-end vacation destination. Cabo San Lucas' economy, like many resortareas in Mexico, was based on fishing and is now geared towards tourism, though sport-fishing is one of the area's main attractions.Cabo San Lucas is a bustling hub for sportfishermen, cruise ships, water-sport aficionados and nightlife seekers. The average year-round temperature is 78 degrees Fahrenheit (25 degrees Celsius). During the high season,October to April, the temperature is typically 80 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and cools to the 60s at night. In the low season,May to September, the temperature can go up to 100+ degrees Fahrenheit during the day and stay in the upper 70s and low 80s inthe evening. The average year-round water temperature in the Sea of Cortez is 72 degrees Fahrenheit and can go up to the mid 80sin the summer. The climate is arid with over 300 days of sunshine, with some reports of over 350 days. The average annual rainfall is10 inches (25.4cm), with most occurring during the months of September and October.

LANGUAGE AND CURRENCYThe official language of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico is Spanish, and the currency is the Mexican Peso. Exchange rates at booths andhotels are slightly lower than banks, but the wait may be longer. Banks are open weekdays from 9 am to 4pm or later, and Saturdaysfrom 10am to 2pm. Please note that some do not exchange travelers' checks. Shops and restaurants accept dollars as well as creditcards, and ATMs and American Express offices are available in San Jose del Cabo with cash dispensed in pesos. We suggest usingATMs in banks as opposed to privately owned ATMs.
