Ronda Smith Trunk Show Media Kit PR Plan

In your Ronda Smith Trunk Show Media Kit, I have included a news release, feature story, fact

sheet, pitch letter, and radio news release. All of these contain the basics of what the trunk show

is and when and where it will be hosted, but they also have specific suggestions that will help the

public relations process become easier.

• News Release -- The news release that I wrote for you is made to help news outlets know

about the Ronda Smith Trunk Show. For print media, the news release should be sent out

six to eight weeks before the event. For radio, the release should be sent out four weeks

in advance; for broadcast news, a one-week advance notice is fine.

• Feature Story -- The feature story gives a brief history of Peace, Love & Decorating’s

formation and helps readers get to know the store and the owners better. This would work

well in the lifestyle sections of magazines like KNOW Atlanta Magazine or Gwinnett

Magazine.

• Fact Sheet -- When covering a story, reporters like to know the basic facts – who, what,

where, when, and why – and have it presented to them in a simple and straightforward

manner. This fact sheet can be used as a background sheet to help reporters who are

covering the trunk show.

• Pitch Letter -- The pitch letter can be used for when you contact a source at a news outlet,

like Gwinnett Magazine or the Gwinnett Daily Post, regarding the trunk show. It’s a

simple little email about the trunk show that catches the attention of the reporter or editor.

Page 15: Marielena Zajac Portfolio

• Radio News Release -- I wrote a script that a radio announcer or host could read from

that covers the essentials of the trunk show. It’s roughly 30 seconds long, which is plenty

of time for a radio news release.

I have also found some news outlets that you may want to contact. They are local and have great

feature and lifestyle sections that would fit perfectly for not only the event but also for Peace,

Love & Decorating’s self-promotion!

Gwinnett Daily Post Meghan Kotowski, Features Desk 770-963-9205 [email protected] KNOW Atlanta Magazine Lindsay Field, Editor [email protected] Gwinnett Magazine 770-236-8703 [email protected] These are a few suggestions on who to contact for the event and how each written piece could be

used. If there is any confusion or corrections need to be made, please don’t hesitate to contact

me.

Best regards,

DULUTH, Ga. -- Peace, Love & Decorating will host a trunk show for Ronda Smith Designs on

Dec. 6, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 8p.m. at 3129 Main St. in Duluth.

The trunk show aims to preview new jewelry from Ronda Smith Designs and to continue

to raise awareness of Peace, Love & Decorating’s presence to the Duluth area.

“We are excited to showcase Ronda Smith’s designs for bracelets, necklaces, and

earrings,” said Jaci Shiendling, store manager for Peace, Love & Decorating. “Her talent is

evident in each of her pieces, and we are thrilled to be able to support another local artist.”

Initially created as a web business, Peace, Love & Decorating opened its first brick and

mortar store in May 2012. The boutique specializes in fine bedding, lighting, furniture,

fragrances, and jewelry, bought from local artists or at market in the Atlanta area.

Customers attending the trunk show will be able to choose from pieces already familiar to

the Ronda Smith brand or create a special order with Ronda Smith herself. The jewelry, which

has a bohemian and vintage flair, reflects the Peace, Love & Decorating store atmosphere.

“What makes Ronda Smith Designs jewelry so special is that each piece is uniquely

designed and can be coordinated to build your own personal ensemble,” said Shiendling.

History:

Peace, Love & Decorating was founded by Jana Contardi and Jennifer Cook in 2006.

Both interior designers, the pair grew up as neighbors and best friends before deciding to bring

their individual design businesses together. In May 2011, Contardi and Cook opened their first

brick and mortar store in historic downtown Duluth, 30 minutes north of Atlanta. What started as

a web business venture has now turned into a three-tiered company, comprising of interior

design, online and in-store retail.

What They Sell:

Bought at market and selected amongst local businesses, the items that are sold at Peace,

Love & Decorating reflect an old-European design with touches of modern flair. Items include:

• Tables

• Chairs

• Paintings

• Decorations

• Jewelry

• Ornaments

Page 22: Marielena Zajac Portfolio

• Fragrances

• Clothes

• Hair Accessories

• Light Fixtures

About Their Trunk Shows:

Since its opening in 2011, Peace, Love & Decorating has hosted numerous trunk shows for local

jewelry designer Ronda Smith and ornament company Christopher Radco. The trunk shows

present customers with a personal viewing of some of their favorite items. Ronda Smith works

directly with her clients to create their own uniquely designed pieces of jewelry, and Christopher

Radco senior designers sign customers’ favorite Radco ornaments.

About Their Location:

Peace, Love & Decorating is located on Main Street in historic downtown Duluth. Contardi and

Cook envisioned an old-fashioned look for their first brick and mortar store. Historic downtown

Dultuh, with it’s southern charm and timeless setting, proved to be the perfect destination for the

vintage-inspired boutique. Downtown Duluth is home to dozens of local businesses and hosts

numerous events, including the Duluth Fall Festival and Barefoot in the Park.

Page 23: Marielena Zajac Portfolio

Peace, Love & Decorating: An Unexpected Venture

Upon entering Peace, Love & Decorating, customers are blown away with its warm,

spacious, and one-of-a-kind interior. The light and airy scents from candles and perfumes

instantly draw people deeper in, and soft music encourages patrons to leisurely explore each and

every crevice of the historic space. Peace, Love & Decorating is ethereal, unique, and inviting:

everything co-owners Jana Contardi and Jennifer Cook envisioned for their business.

This vision for the store, however, was not a planned project for the two founders. After

graduating from the University of Georgia, Cook began her dream career of designing and

renovating homes with distinctive and elegant products. She received overwhelming success, so

in 2001, she opened her own interior design firm in Duluth, Ga., called Jennifer Cook Interiors.

Contardi, Cook’s neighbor at the time and best friend, joined the firm that same year when Cook

saw Contardi’s inherent talent for interior design.

“We had a good, natural partnership from the very beginning,” said Cook. “It was

effortless to work together because we just understood each other.”

Jennifer Cook Interiors thrived for many years, but along with the national economy, it

slowed down in 2008. The “Panic of 2008” stock market crash brought with it a change in the

housing and interior design markets. Customers simply were not looking to re-design or stage

their homes for sale. Seeing the potential threat to the firm, Cook and Contardi decided to open a

web business to supplement for the deficit.

“We had been playing with the idea of starting our own web business for a while,” said

Contardi. “The stock market change definitely pushed our decision a little faster, but it was one

of the best decisions we ever made.”

Page 24: Marielena Zajac Portfolio

The web business, formally created in 2009, originally sold custom bedding for girls

exclusively. The market for this trade, however, was not large enough, so Contardi and Cook

chose to add more to their on-line selection. The co-owners went to markets in the Atlanta area

and selected items that appealed more to home décor and design. Staying true to the original

interior design function of Jennifer Cook Interiors, Peace, Love & Decorating was formed.

Peace, Love & Decorating was an immediate hit for loyal customers of Jennifer Cook

Interiors and for new customers across the country. As demand for product began to increase, so

did inventory. With the increase, though, came a decrease in space.

“We had all of this stuff from the web business that it began to crowd the interior design

business!” said Cook with a laugh. “Online customers also began to request displays of the

products we sold, but we had no room to display anything!”

Contardi and Cook began to look for a brick and mortar space to use as a retail

showroom. A retail showroom would not only fulfill their need for more space to store

inventory, but also provide customers with a physical representation of the designers’ vision for

the products they carried. Since both owners lived in Duluth, and most of their firm’s clients

resided there, the two started searching for a location in the Duluth area that was quiet,

comfortable and welcoming. Historic Main Street in downtown Duluth, with its charm and

friendly aesthetic, proved to be the perfect destination for the Peace, Love & Decorating

showroom.

The retail showroom served as both a display for the beds, tables, light fixtures, and home

décor sold online and an in-store location for direct sales. As business continued to grow more,

Contardi and Cook delved into offering products outside of interior design, such as dining plates

and utensils, fragrances, and jewelry.

Page 25: Marielena Zajac Portfolio

Peace, Love & Decorating has come a long way since its inception in 2009. It is no

longer just a showroom for interior design clients, but a business, with hardworking employees,

that is forming its own name and clientele outside of Jennifer Cook Interiors, which continues to

thrive. Since the brick and mortar store’s opening, Peace, Love & Decorating has become the

number one retailer in the state of Georgia for Lenny & Eva jewelry, a proud and surprising

accomplishment for what initially began as an interior design enterprise, according to Cook. For

Cook and Contardi, this is only the first of many titles for their unexpected business venture.

In 2010, the online Peace, Love & Decorating created a branch of the business called the

Christopher Radko Gallery, a premier retailer of Christopher Radko ornaments. Every holiday

season, the physical store, which opened in 2011, not only sells these ornaments, but also hosts a

trunk show where customers can have a senior Radko artist sign their favorite pieces. Peace,

Love & Decorating also hosts trunk shows for local jewelry designer Ronda Smith and Donna

Salyer’s Fabulous Faux Furs. Cook and Contardi continue to expand their horizons by adding

clothing, footwear, and accessories to the already impressive selection of items sold at the store.

Although Peace, Love & Decorating continues to expand in its offerings, Contardi’s and

Cook’s vision to provide customers with products that reflect a peaceful yet elegant air still

stands true today. Every product chosen at market is selected with this vision in mind, and the

two partners continue to bring their serene style to Jennifer Cook Interiors. Inadvertently, Cook

and Contardi have created a successful three-tiered business that is harmonious with each branch.

“Our business is so young, but we are definitely continuing to grow fast,” said Cook.

“But we are so excited for what the future has in store for us,” adds Contardi with a

smile.

KSU Brings Comic Books to Life with Bloody Pulp!

By: Marielena Zajac

Online Editor, KSU Sentinel

Kennesaw State University’s Department of Theater and Performance Studies has created

a one-of-a-kind play with “Bloody Pulp: Crisis in the American Comic Book!,” performing at

the Onyx Theater Feb. 3 to Feb. 8. Written and co-directed by Dr. Charles Parrott and co-

directed by Dr. Jim Davis, the show depicts the rise and fall of comics and the artists behind

many of the popular comic book series we know and love today. It is an imaginative portrayal of

a comic book come to life that serves as, according to Parrott, “an allegory for the things in the

present.”

Set in the early 1950’s, “Bloody Pulp” provides viewers with a brief composite history of

the events that led to the Comics Code Authority. The code, which prohibited comic book

publications from releasing comics that were lurid, violent, or sexual in any manner, hoped to

protect America’s youth from delinquency and future criminal behavior. With 90 percent of

children reading comics, this was a major concern for American society at the time.

“Bloody Pulp” calls attention to the ridiculous restrictions that the Comics Code

Authority placed on publishers but also raises debates that are still prevalent in modern day

society: What should American children be subjected to in entertainment; who decides what is

right and wrong; and when do we as a society say “enough” to violence and sex in children’s

stories?

“It asks the fine question of where do we draw the line,” Parrott said.

Page 30: Marielena Zajac Portfolio

Despite the serious undertone, the show is filled with lighthearted and amusing scenes

that are packed with color juxtaposed against a black and white background. The set is staged so

that viewers in the Onyx Theater can see the performance from multiple different angles, giving

the sense that the world is a comic book and we are its characters. Each scene is a unique panel

that brings a whimsical element to every line delivered, giving the true feel of a classic comic.

The truest nod that “Bloody Pulp” shows is to the original comic artists at the time,

primarily Jack Kirby, from whom the story is loosely based. These artists, including Jerry Siegel

and Bob Kane, had a huge impact on modern day entertainment and provided many generations

to come with classic tales of adventure, romance, and heroic antics that have proved to be some

of the greatest stories ever told. “Bloody Pulp” aims to shed light on serious and thought-

provoking issues, but more importantly, it strives to be grateful for the artists who started it all

and to continue their dream of telling a great story.

Challenges and Opportunity: 25 years of Communication By: Marielena Zajac The year is 1990. Operation “Desert Storm” begins in Kuwait, the United States enters a

recession that will have repercussions for many years to come, the Berlin Wall is officially torn

down and East and West Germany unite, and the first episode of “The Simpsons” airs. This

would prove to be a year that would go down in infamy, signifying the moments that would

change nations forever. 1990 was also the year that Kennesaw State University founded its

Communication Department, and the changes from then to now show how much society and

culture has grown in the past 25 years.

Kennesaw State University’s School of Communication & Media was officially formed

this year, but its beginnings were humble to say the least. According to the Kennesaw State

College Catalog from 1990, Kennesaw State University was known as Kennesaw State College

and taught just over 10,000, less than one-third of the nearly 30,000 students that attend today.

Communication was only a spec in the college’s program, a tiny major in the then Department of

Liberal Studies in the School of Arts and Behavioral Sciences, which was housed in the Wilson

Humanities building.

The 1990 Kennesaw State Catalog’s definition of a communication major reveals the

prevalence of communication in society at that time: “Communication studies help to prepare

students to meet the challenges of a fast-paces, highly informed society through careful

organization of ideas, effective delivery of those ideas and an increased skill in listening and

responding accurately to those messages.” This lengthy and somewhat vague explanation

signifies how all encompassing this major was to anyone entering any form of communication,

and there were only two focuses within the major: business communication and journalism.

In order to receive a communication degree at Kennesaw State College, certain courses

that may be familiar to current communication students were required. Principles of Human

Communication, Introduction to Mass Communication, Communication Theory, and Persuasion

Methods and Strategy were all classes that communications students in 1990 took that students

take today to earn their degree.

However, some core requirements in 1990 may seem like foreign concepts to the more

technologically savvy millennial generation. Introduction to Microcomputers and Word

Processing, Business Computer Applications, and Two Dimensional Design taught students how

Page 40: Marielena Zajac Portfolio

to incorporate a then emerging technology into communication. This may not seem like such a

drastic concept to students in 2015, who now use computers everyday to turn in assignments, but

at that time these classes were revolutionary.

Looking at the 1990 Kennesaw State Catalog certainly revealed how much the School of

Communication has grown. But perhaps the most important change the school has seen in the

past 25 years, according to Kennesaw State University instructor Dr. Charles Aust, was the

establishment of four concentrations that encompassed different facets of modern

communication.

“I believe the ample choices we offer our majors is a huge asset and serves the needs of

many students,” Aust said. “I think that's one of the reasons we attract so many students to the

major.”

Back in 1990, the only two communication concentrations were business

communications and journalism. But widening the theses general concentrations into four more

focused concentrations – journalism, organizational communications, media studies, and public

relations – would further encompass the criteria that need to be met in the communication field.

This growth is gaining even more traction with the establishment of the public relations major in

fall 2015 and buzz about a journalism major in the next year.

The changes in the School of Communication could certainly be in part to the societal

and technological advancements made in the past 25 years. Aust notes that these developments

have also solidified the importance of communication in modern society.

“Communication capacities have made some experiences in our society better than ever,

such as internet medicine, educational applications of digital databases, information search

capacity, comparison shopping, wonderful entertainment to enjoy, and scientific knowledge

gains,” Aust says.

These technological changes have led to KSU Communication courses dedicated to

media knowledge and implementation, such as digital media production, film and video structure

and process, advanced digital audio production, and digital publication design. And this is only

the beginning of the School of Communication’s advancements.

“Enhancing education in digital and new technologies will continue to be an emphasis

for us as a School,” Department Chair Barbara Gainey shares. “A goal is to keep all academic

programs in the School of Communication & Media on the cutting edge of the digital revolution

Page 41: Marielena Zajac Portfolio

and ensure students have the theoretical grounding and hands-on experiences necessary to be

equipped for the ever-changing marketplace.”

Kennesaw State University Communication has seen a great deal of growth the past 25

years. From its humble beginnings in 1990 in the Department of Liberal Studies to the massive

School of Communication and Media, the program continues to engage in the modern era and

acclimate to the changing times in the communication industry. But with continuing growth will

come more advancement, more opportunities, and more wealth of knowledge. The future

continues to look bright for Kennesaw State University, and the School of Communication and

Media is a shining light for the times to come.

Page 42: Marielena Zajac Portfolio

Jerald Goodoien Major: Communication – Media Studies Graduation: May 2016 By: Marielena Zajac Kennesaw State University is no stranger to the non-traditional student. KSU was originally founded as a college that would cater to traditional and non-traditional students alike, and to this day the campus is filled with adult learners who are returning to school to receive their degrees. Some returned to create more options for themselves; some attend because they desire to learn more about a field that has always piqued their interest. For 74-year-old media studies student Jerald Goodoien, he wanted to seize an opportunity that had not previously been available to him in the past and desired to be a role model for his grandchildren. “I want to encourage every one of them to get a college degree,” Goodoien shared. “I missed a lot of opportunities of jobs I knew I could do hands-down, but never even had the opportunity to apply for them because I didn’t have a degree. But I knew I could do them because of the successes I’d already had.” And he certainly has the experience to back up his words. Goodoien was born and raised in the mid-west, primarily South Dakota and Minnesota. Growing up just below the poverty line motivated him to work and earn every cent he made, taking up odd jobs such as a farm hand, babysitter, and paperboy. All the jobs didn’t deter him, but only instilled in him a great work ethic. Once high school was over, Goodoien enlisted in the Navy, where he underwent extensive training as an engineman, first class, in the submarine service, which he served for seven years. During his service he was deployed on the SSN 585 “Skip Jack”, an attack submarine that was present during the Cuban missile crisis, Cold War, and Vietnam War, as well as the SSN 610 G “Thomas Edison”, a submarine that carried nuclear missiles on board. It was an interesting time that gave him great experience, but once his enlistment was up he wanted to be back on the shore. A series of more odd jobs as a construction worker and volunteer fireman followed his time in the Navy, but a corporate position at Exide Industrial providing sale services to railroads would be the start of a career journey that would shape his life forever. His experience on submarines proved as a vital skill selling batteries to railroad companies, and eventually he found himself in managerial roles over different branches throughout the country. Goodoien worked all over America, from Chicago, San Francisco, and Atlanta and had the chance to travel to over 29 countries worldwide. And during these travels, he always brought a camera. “My aunt was a missionary to Israel and Cyprus,” Goodoien said. “She had a Lyke Reflex camera and always took slides everywhere she went. When I got ready to go to the military, she said, ‘Jerry, you have to buy a good camera, and you need to take that camera every place that you go.’”

Page 43: Marielena Zajac Portfolio

That advice certainly has stuck around. KSU Communication students have probably seen Goodoien walking around the Social Sciences building snapping photos for the Talon, the School of Communication and Media website, and for this semester’s issue of Pipeline Magazine. He continues to use his knowledge in technology and photography in any business venture, training, or even church services. He declared himself a Communication – Media major to continue to learn more about the workings of a camera and how that can apply in every day life. But what does he intend to do with his degree once he finishes in May 2016? This jack-of-all-trades is still deciding. “I don’t know what I want to be when I grow up yet,” Goodoien chuckles, “but I’ll figure it out one of these days.”

Scientific Games: Million Dollar Series

The overwhelming success South Carolina Education Lottery’s Million Dollar Series (SC-570) has achieved is due to the creative minds at the SCEL and Scientific Games.

The two have been partners since 2013 when Scientific Games signed an instant ticket and cooperative services contract with the SCEL, making the company, which prides itself on its innovation and customer focus, the sole vendor for the South Carolina lottery.

Well on its way to becoming the best ranking game in the history of the SCEL, the Million Dollar Series was modeled off of the Minnesota instant game of the same name (MN-944). The SCEL was looking for a game with similar play action, but Scientific Games, which provides game design and creative services that are second to none, decided to take the game a step further by including a separate play action on three different scenes within one game. This innovative design gives players the sense that with each scene of the ticket, they would be receiving something different every time.

The idea for the SCEL Million Dollar Series took off and with the inventive minds in Scientific Games’ game programming department, the rotating bonus box feature was formed. To incorporate the idea of three different scenes within one game, developers created a rotating bonus box in which for each different scene, a different feature in the bonus box could be uncovered by the player.

What makes this game so creative is that players have the chance to receive something different every time the game is played. One scene offers a chance to uncover a symbol to win $100; another has a 10x multiplier win; another allows the player to win all the prizes shown on that specific instant game. Each of these scenes rotate between displaying a normal scene or a bonus box. There is also a second chance component to the game to win $1 million, further increasing the appeal and leading to increased sales.

The Million Dollar Series has proven to be a hit in the SCEL. Since its launch in late February, this instant $10 game sold 80% in 10 weeks and 97% in 14 weeks. What is most noteworthy is that even after the 80% mark, which tends to see drop-offs in retailers, the Million Dollar Series contributed to 19.50% of the SCEL’s total instant sales even after the 80% mark.

“Taking a chance on Million Dollar Series clearly paid off for us in South Carolina. The game has been a solid, top performer that piqued player interest with its original multi-scene, multi-title, and differing bonus play area features,” said SC Education Lottery Executive Director Paula Harper Bethea. “We are exploring this concept with other upcoming games.”

Page 46: Marielena Zajac Portfolio

Scientific Games and the SCEL’s partnership continues to create new and inventive instant games and products that are appreciated by millions of consumers.

Time for Celebration! Nonwoven Fabric Industry Leader Fitesa Selects Fullscope and

Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Operations

Congratulations to Emir Dobraca, Linda Hope, Sylvain Menard, Perry Murphy, Ronnie

White, Steve Reed, John Insleman, and Ivan MacDonald for closing a cloud deal,

Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Operations, at Fitesa. The Fullscope team was supported by

John Flagg, Deborah Vermillion, Don Lees, and Shawna Mikes from Microsoft. The lead

came from John Flagg at Microsoft.

Fitesa is a leader in the nonwoven fabric industry, specializing in providing innovative

fabrics for the hygiene, medical, and industrial markets. They make Spunmelt, Carded,

Airlaid, and specialty fabrics for applications in baby care, feminine hygiene, and adult

incontinence, as well as medical, agricultural, and industrial products. With executive

offices in Gravatai, Brazil, and Simpsonville, SC, Fitesa operates ten manufacturing

locations in eight countries.

Fitesa is currently running three legacy systems: Baan, BPICS, and TOTVS Protheus. One

of the key objectives for Fitesa was to have a system that could support their global

growth strategy, which consists of both acquisition and greenfield. They no longer want

technology to be the bottle neck; instead, they want full visibility into their operations

across the globe. Fitesa believes that Microsoft technology, Dynamics 365 for

Operations, and Office 365 will best prepare them to become a true global company.

Fullscope competed against two ERP vendors and another Dynamics 365

implementation partner and was selected due to our process manufacturing expertise,

which was illustrated through numerous customer reference calls and customer site

visits. Additionally, Fullscope was able to position itself as the best Microsoft partner for

Fitesa for this significant multi-year, global project by exhibiting our process

manufacturing expertise along with our ability to provide global implementation

partners for their respective locations.

Initial project planning begins late January with formal project start in early February.

Introducing Microsoft Dynamics 365

It is all anyone in the Microsoft Dynamics community has been discussing. Since

Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella’s announcement back in July, Microsoft Dynamics 365

has caused quite the stir amongst partners and customers alike. Dynamics 365 unifies

CRM and ERP cloud solutions together into one unified, cloud-based application

platform. Nadella’s main takeaways to eager customers were that Microsoft Dynamics

365:

Helps organizations move from monolithic application suites to purpose-built,

SaaS applications with intelligence built in

Integrates Microsoft Office 365

Introduces a disruptive and customer centric business model to build what you

want and buy just the capabilities you need, while ensuring all roles have access

to all the data they need to be successful in their jobs

All the fuss has consumers asking, “What is Dynamics 365?” and “What does this

integration mean for my business?” More importantly, “What sets Dynamics 365 apart

from the competition?”

It’s Purpose-Built

According to Microsoft, Dynamics 365 provides customers a modern and familiar

experience with built-in insights, intelligence, and workflow. It allows customers to mix

and match the features that they specifically need, which can be selected from a huge

catalog that include sales, marketing, customer service, field service, project

management, accounting, and much more. Dynamics 365 merges current CRM and ERP

functionality into one comprehensive, cloud-based collection of cloud apps and services

for business.

Dynamics 365 apps are independently deployed and bring together the full

power of Microsoft’s Enterprise offerings. With these business apps, customers can start

Page 59: Marielena Zajac Portfolio

small and only pay for what is needed, and from there expand their arsenal. The app

catalogue includes built-in insights, predictive intelligence, and workflow optimization,

among many other selections. All of these will be delivered through simple, easy-to-use

mobile experiences with offline capabilities.

It’s Productive

Dynamics 365 will provide an immersive user experience with Office 365.

Microsoft states that there will be a deep integration between Dynamics 365 and Office

365 that will connect the structured workflow of business apps with the unstructured

work of collaboration and productivity. With Dynamics 365, all information you have can

easily be uploaded and shared on Office 365, and it is offered across web, mobile

devices, and the PC.

It’s Intelligent

Power BI and Cortana Intelligence will be natively embedded into Dynamics 365

to attain actionable next steps and predictive insights for customers everywhere, making

this the AI product that everyone will be eager to demo. Cortana will enable cross-sell

recommendations to help sales reps predict which products and services a customer will

need, and uses tools like sentiment analysis to check on the likelihood of closing a deal.

Meanwhile, the Power BI components of Dynamics 365 align big data and analytics to

enable every user to gain their own analytical insights. With Dynamics 365,

comprehensible data is always at the user’s fingertips.

It’s Adaptable

In an industry that is constantly evolving, you need a system that can be easily

adapted. Dynamics 365 supports existing capabilities that any Dynamics CRM or

Dynamics AX user is running today, and has introduced Microsoft PowerApps and

Microsoft Flow, which are powerful new extension capabilities that work across all the

data that’s been stored in Dynamics 365. Specifically, Microsoft Flow automates

workflows across applications, while Microsoft AppSource offers SaaS applications that

cover a huge range of requirements. To view Edgewater Fullscope’s AppSource apps for

the manufacturing industry, click here.

The new Common Data Model surfaces all the data stored within Dynamics 365

across a set of custom entities that model data across all the different business apps.

Page 60: Marielena Zajac Portfolio

This feature allows you to seamlessly extend and accelerate all of your business apps as

well as all your productivity solutions.

With Dynamics 365, customers can get the job done quickly and effortlessly while

adjusting to a changing environment at a moment’s notice. As Satya Nadella said during

the reveal of Dynamics 365, “The motivating force behind everything we do and

everything we build is to empower our customers to make things and make things

happen. Together with our customers and partners, we are reinventing business

processes for a world where devices, data, intelligence and connectivity can be

everywhere.”

An award-winning Microsoft manufacturing partner with nearly two decades of

experience, Edgewater Fullscope can guide you into a move to Dynamics 365. Our team

has deep manufacturing experience that can help you combat your toughest

operational business challenges.

to make sound decisions and reduce costs. Integrating to one platform solves these demands.

Libbey’s executives considered SAP, Oracle, and Dynamics AX before deciding on Dynamics AX. Fullscope

was selected as their AX partner in a partner evaluation following the selection of AX.

Fullscope benefited greatly from our partnership with Bush Brothers’. Libbey felt that Bush Brothers was

similar to them, and therefore took interest in Fullscope. During the formal evaluation process, Libbey

became comfortable with our attention to detail and experience in the CPG industry. Company

executives also connected with Beth Wells, who led the initial discovery and estimate process during an

RFP phase. We developed a consultative relationship, helping them with various technical and functional

items as they began to delve into AX. We are also helping them scope other initiatives including rollout

of the full breadth of AX in their North America business units.

Libbey began the initial implementation of specific work streams with 400 users in North America the

week of August 1st.

Subject Line: A Heavy Metal Family! Metal manufacturer Samuel, Son & Co. Selects

Fullscope and Microsoft Dynamics 365

Congratulations to Gus Vattiata, Ivan MacDonald, Steve Sanderson, Nancy Feddersen,

John Scandar, Sylvain Menard, Alex Kozlenko, and the implementation team that started

at the end of 2016 of: Fred Betchel, Domenic Mattia, Bill Vail, Samar Al-Jammal, and

Clayton Loden for closing a Microsoft Dynamics D365 opportunity at Samuel, Son & Co.

Microsoft support for the deal came from Alison Wheeler and Joyce Lafleur. This lead

came from Nancy Fedderson from Inside Sales and we were then introduced into the

account and supported by Microsoft.

Samuel, Son & Co., Limited is a family owned business founded in 1855 and is the 4th

largest metal processor and distributor in North America. Samuel is also a major

manufacturer of metal and related products. Samuel offers a full range of value added

processing services and a complete range of carbon, stainless and aluminum products in

all shapes and forms. Samuel employs over 5,000 people who operate over 100 Service

Centers and Manufacturing plants in North America as well as facilities in the UK,

Australia and China.

The company currently uses Oracle, JDE, and other ERP systems. The new search was

driven by Samuel’s objective to move all its business units and locations (approximately

110) onto 1 common ERP system. Samuel has grown substantially and a large portion of

that growth was via acquisitions, leading to an existing IT environment made up of

many disparate pieces.

After considering Oracle, Samuel’s executives selected the cloud-based solution,

Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Operations (formally Dynamics AX). They eliminated Oracle

after seeing the industry-specific Dynamics 365 third party software that Crowe Horwath

offered for the steel industry. Oracle could not provide similar industry specific

functionality. Edgewater Fullscope was highly recommended by Microsoft as well other

Toronto customers, such as Mother Parkers. We are working alongside Crowe Horwath

on the implementation.

As noted above, The Samuel, Son & Co. implementationalready began in October with a

team of six consultants. The Statement of Work was recently completed for the first

phase of the project.

Subject Line: Zipping into Success! Industrial manufacturer selects Fullscope and Microsoft

Dynamics AX

Congratulations to Ted Root, Linda Hope, Randy Goldbeck, Brian Bognar, and Terry Roe for

closing an SOW for services for a Microsoft Dynamics AX Cloud Deal at Zip-Pak. The lead came

from Microsoft SSP with information provided by Brian Bognar and Terry Roe.

Zip-Pak, a division of Illinois Tool Works, is a Fortune 200 company that is one of the world’s

leading diversified manufacturers of specialized industrial equipment, consumables and related

service businesses. The company operates in more than 52 countries around the world with

more than 270 dedicated flexible packaging professionals who focus their efforts to meet and

exceed the needs of every Zip-Pak client. Zip-Pak has a significant presence in developed and

emerging markets, offering a complete range of re-sealable closure services, machinery, and

solutions.

The company is currently using Sage Mas 90 as their ERP system. The search for a new ERP

system was driven by the company’s desire to consolidate their multiple divisions onto a single

platform. Sage Mas 90 is only in a single division and does not have the manufacturing

capabilities Zip-Pak requires.

Zip-Pak’s executives considered Epicor and Infor Syteline before deciding on Microsoft

Dynamics AX. Although the system functionality was relatively close, they selected Fullscope and

because of our implementation and project management. Our desire to lead and guide the

company appealed to the Zip-Pak executives; we will lead them and challenge their assumptions

to ensure a realistic process, scope and timing for implementation. Zip-Pak selected Dynamics

AX for the latest technology and advanced functionality. The scope of the project will be to

replace the existing disparate ERP system into a single ERP for the company.

Implementation began in October with 100 users in four sites.
