ELECTRIC VEHICLES IN AN OIL NATION

WHY 3% OF ALL NEW CARS SOLD IN NORWAY ARE ELECTRIC

Marianne Mølmen, Agency for Urban Environment

ELECTRIC VEHICLES IN NORWAY : • Drive for free on toll roads (in Oslo 3,5 - 5 Euro/day). • Do not have to pay 25% VAT on new electric vehicles. • Low annual road fee for EVs (EV = 55 euro/year, ICE=395

euro/year). • Can drive in lanes reserved for bus and taxi. • Park for free in public parking spaces, but need to abide by the

maximum parking time. • Do not have to pay for the EV on local ferries. • Have a strong EV user organization. Result: Norway has the highest amount of EVs per capita

Transnova funded projects: • Fast charging stations • NOBIL charging station

database • Hydrogen buses in Oslo • Biofuel projects • EV taxi projects • Zero Emission Rally • Land power supply for ships

TRANSNOVA FAST CHARGING FUNDING • Supported fast chargers 2010-2012 • Has inspired counties in Norway to

have a similar approach to increase fast chargers in their region
