Ozona Lion marching season began early Monday morning at 8 a. .m, August 2, 2014 with a section leader meeting. Section leaders were Trystian Galindo (10) for the flutes, Gabby Martinez, Yeni Rodriguez (12) and Lauren Miles (11) for low woodwinds, Kristen Hernandez (12) for low brass. Dalton Gunnels for percussion (11), Kim Borrego (11) trumpets, Sidney Perez (10) and Kamryn Lozano(10) for clarinets. At noon the entire band met in the band hall so each member could get music to practice. Each section went to a designated area to get help. The low brass met with Mr. Vincent Del Vecchio, the flutes with Ms. Justina Saunders, the clarinets with Miss Lindsey Gold, percussion with Bradley and high brass with Mr. Chans Moellendorf. Each section practiced until 3:00 in the afternoon each day. After an hour break the band regrouped for marching fundamentals 101 in the gym with their section leaders. The summer schedule continued for two weeks. When school started the summer schedule was replaced with 6:00 to 8:30 evening rehearsals on Monday and every day at 7:30 in the morning for 30 minutes before school. This allowed the band to rehearse a little longer than in previous years. During marching period several team building games such as Ships and Sailors, Animal Sounds, and Sing Me a Song were practiced. The band performed at each football game to prepare for the UIL Marching Competition. The theme for the halftime show and the competition was The Hunger Games. .
