OUT AND ABOUT
www.mccs.org.au 49325755
Welcome to our new look “OUT AND ABOUT” Calendar of Events for March and April 2015. We have a
few new venues and some old favourites as well. We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and kept cool
over the holidays and indulged in lots of yummy treats.
Maitland Community Care Services now have weekend outings, check out our WEEKEND BUS OUTINGS,
(previously Fun Bus) all clients are welcome to access these outings.
A very big thank you to everyone who continues to donate raffle prizes for our outings, we really do
appreciate your generosity.
We now have an additional calendar , these are various activities that are on offer in the Community, if
any of these activities interest you, please give us a call so we can arrange to transport you. These
activities are not apart of MCCS, so you may need to contact the relevant organisation and check if you
need to book a spot. We have added these to the calendar so you are aware of what the community
has to offer and let you know we are able to assist you in accessing them.

EVENTS HIGHLIGHTS WILL BE INLUDED IN A MAGAZINE WHICH WILL BE DISTRIBUTED IN THE SUNDAY TELE-
GRAPH IN EARLY MARCH.
HOW TO BOOK
1. Read through the calendar of events and decide on the outings you would like to attend.
2. Phone the office and register your interest on 4932 5755.
3. If you have been allocated a seat, we will ring you to confirm your seat a week prior to the outing to advise you of your
APPROXIMATE pick up time. We ask that you be ready 30 minutes prior to this APPROXIMATE pick up time, and be
aware the bus may arrive up to 30 minutes after this time. This is due to cancellations, traffic and unforseen
circumstances.
4. When your seat is confirmed, mark this on the calendar as a reminder.
SEAT ALLOCATION
To ensure all clients have equal access to outings, seats are allocated on a rotating basis.
If you are not phoned to confirm your seat the week prior to the outing, you are not on that trip.
Most outings have a waiting list and you may receive a call at short notice– you do not have to accept the seat if
inconvenient.
If you are unable to attend the outing, please phone the office ASAP.
HANDY HINTS
Please do not wait outside, especially if the weather is extreme, we will come and knock on your door.
When on an outing please stay with the group, advise the driver if you wish to visit another area of the venue.
LATE CANCELLATIONS
Most venues require pre booked seats to be paid in advance. We may need to ask you to pay for late cancellations
that we have not been able to fill. This rarely happens except for cancellations made after 2pm the day prior or on
the day.
PHONE 4932 5755 FOR BOOKINGS OR ENQUIRIES
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
We are continuing to grade our social outings 1 2 or 3
This will make it easier for you to decide which trips are suitable for you to attend.
Grade 1 trips
Are for people who have no walking frames, sticks or wheelchairs. Can walk around
unaided.
Grade 2 trips
Are for people who have frames, sticks or need to have an arm to guide them.
Grade 3 trips
Are suitable for people who have frames, sticks, wheelchairs or require arm
assistance. Electric wheelchairs will be individually graded depending on the
requested destination as some venues are not accessible for electric wheelchairs.
DIETARY REQUIREMENTS
If you have special dietary requirements, please do not hesitate to inform the office,
venues will be notified on your behalf.
Please ensure you bring along a snack or drink if you are diabetic, as often pick ups
