newsletter march 2012  M arch at Kids Village means celebrating St. Patrick ’s Day with  warm Irish Soda Bread, Magical Rainbow Mobiles, Sneaky Leprechaun T raps, and o course, a bit o Irish Luck. But the children at Kids Village are what make our school Magical throughout the year.  We wanted to send a ver y special thank you to all o the amilies that have registered or next year. Y our support means so much to us, THANK YOU! I you have not yet registered or next year, there is still time. Y ou can fnd registration orms online or at the ront desk. It’ s hard to believe that summer is just around the corner with cold temperatures keeping us bundled up. But, it will be here beore you know it and with it comes Summer in the Village! At Kids Village we believe in developing a child’ s whole-sel and our summer camps are no exception. We provide an environment o learning, socializing, and creativity that can’ t be beat. We will be oering a discounted rate i you register beo re May 15th. See the ront desk or our website or more inormation. Our Daddy Daughter Ball was a huge success! We hope all o you F athers and Fairies made some grea t memories. We have had many o you ask “When is it the boy s turn?” So. . . . get ready to start yo ur engines, because  we are gearing up or a very special night o “Mamas, Boys, and Racing T oys”. e night will include our own Kids Village Pinewoo d Derby , complete with dinner rom the Checkered Flag Diner, a “Winner’s Circle” awards ceremony , a photo op with the Pit Crew and much more. Mark your calendars or March 31st and speed on over now to pick up your tickets. We are also looking orward to having our Little Sprouts share their frst “Show-and- ell” experience with us. W atch or an email comin g with all the details. Here is a closer look at some o our lessons or this month:  Week #1 - Feb 27th - March 2nd- “Many Diferent Tools” Learning about the Letter O, reading the book “London Bridges” and discussing dierent tools or building, sorting tools, measuring and counting, and creating patterns.  Week #2 - March 5th - 9th - “My Pets” Learning about the Le tter P, reading the book “Pet Patrol” and discussing the ways we can care or animals, ordering by size and matching, and color review.  Week #3 - March 12th - 16th - “I Am Growing” Learning about the Letter Q, reading the book “When I Was Small” and discussing the ways we have changed since we were babies, introducing sets, matching items by colo r, and ordering rom youngest to oldest.  Week #4 - March 19th - 23rd - “Animals All Around Me” Learning about the Letter R, reading the book “Whose Baby Am I?” and discussing similarities and dierences in animals, moving our bodies like animals do, and sorting animals by habitat.  Week #5 - March 27th - 30th - “Plants are Living ings” Learning about the Letter S, reading the book “Jack and the Beanstalk” and discussing the things plants need to grow, sorting and counting seeds, practice using scissors, and planting our own seeds. March Values: Honesty & Loyalty Honesty and Loyalty go hand-in-hand because loyalty is a trait built upon trust. ey are two o the most important values we can teach our children. Learning to be honest will develop a child’s moral and emotional strength as well as build solid sel-esteem and character.  We will spend plenty o time role-playing to practice the value o Honesty as well as sharing stories that emphasize the importance o honest behavior. Science

Some animals have ur, others have scales,

some have 4 legs, and others have none. We

 will explore all o the things that make animals

the same and dierent this month. We’ll look

at the Narwhal or Letter N, the Octopus or

Letter O, Pandas or the Letter P, ueen Bees

or Letter Q, the Rhinoceros or the Letter R,

and Snakes or the Letter S.

Art

 We have spent lots o time painting in the Art

room but we don’t always use paintbrushes. Tis

month we will talk about how to take care o 

a paintbrush and how to use it careully. We’ll

also make Oatmeal Clay or the Letter O, Paper

Pizzas or the Letter P, abric collage uilts or

the Letter Q, Rainbows or the Letter R, and

Sunowers or the Letter S.

KitchenAll o our Little Sprouts love being part o the

action as we put our recipes together. Tis

month they will practice stirring ingredients

careully. Here are a ew o the things we’ll be

snacking on this month: Week #1 - Oatmeal,

 Week #2 - Perect Popcorn, Week #3 -

uesadillas, Week #4 - Rock ‘n Roll Smoothies,

 Week #5 - Savory Soup

Music Who doesn’t love playing dress-up? Our

Little Sprouts will stretch their imaginations

this month as we try on dierent masks,

hats, and other un props to “act out” some

amiliar stories. We will also be working on

learning the song “Head, Shoulders, Knees,

and oes”.

Social StudiesEvery child is excited when they see a so

kitten or a playul puppy but learning 

how to treat an animal can be hard to

understand. We will talk about how to be

sae around animals, how to touch and play

 with them, and also how to show love to

animals.
