Dear Friends,
In December, we publically launched Phase 1 of the Teach Reach Grow campaign for
Eton Academy and announced gifts raised in excess of $2.4 million. We are now 66%
of the way to our $3M goal—thanks in no small part to YOUR generosity.
Although we have both felt Eton‘s positive impact in our own families, it wasn’t until
leading this campaign that we realized our success stories are just two of the
hundreds that parents and students have experienced at Eton. Sharing the Eton story
with all of you and receiving your incredible generosity in response, has been a
remarkable and overwhelming experience.
As we look towards the future, we have some exciting news to share. The City of
Birmingham has approved all zoning requirements and we will break ground in spring
2015! Currently, we are in the process of reviewing construction bids and are still on
schedule to have our first group of students starting in new, specially designed
classrooms by the fall 2015 school year.
We look forward to keeping you updated on our progress and sharing pictures and
highlights as the building takes shape.

Eton Academy Campaign Update
March 2015
Message from Campaign Co-Chairs Mark LaNeve and Dan Loepp
Mark LaNeve, co-chair of the Teach
Reach Grow campaign, and his wife
Paula, Eton’s Corporate Relations
Manager, have been involved at Eton
since their son Drew was a 6th grader.
Drew is now 23 and a graduate of the
REACH program at the University of
Iowa. He currently works full-time as an
Assistant Traffic Coordinator at Team
Detroit. Always a bright student, Eton
helped Drew learn the tools and
strategies to help him succeed at
college and in the workforce.
On September 8th, 2014, the Lions
kicked-off the Monday Night football
season with a showdown against the
Giants. The LaNeve’s, along with the
committee at right, hosted their own
fundraising kick-off for Eton’s campaign
during a viewing party at Motor City
Casino. “We had over 40 corporate
partners join us on this special night for
Eton—together with the host committee
and individual donors, we were able to
accomplish something really remarkable
for Eton,” said LaNeve.
The fundraiser had over 200 attendees,
featured a chalk talk by Boomer Esiason,
and included appearances by Hall of
Famers Lynn Swann, Andre Reed, and
Charlie Sanders. The event raised over
$230,000 for the Teach Reach Grow
campaign.

Through the generosity of Paula & Mark LaNeve and
their family and friends, the new Welcome Center at
Eton will be named the LaNeve Family & Friends
Welcome Center. Highlights of the Center include:
• Creating an inspiring and hope-filled reception
area where students, parents, and community
members feel welcome and included.
• Connecting Eton’s two buildings into a single
point of entry and provide a unified Eton identity
• Welcoming different learners into a specially
designed space that meets the sensory needs of
students who can be deeply affected by their
environment
Eton is extremely grateful to the LaNeve family and all
those who have donated to this initiative!

When Campaign Co-Chair Dan
Loepp and his wife, Eton Board
of Trustee, Amy Loepp,
announced they would match all
new gifts to the campaign until
May 31, 2015, up to $250,000,
they hoped the gift would
inspire donors. “One of our
goals with the match is to
encourage people to give more.
Whatever the amount, donors
will have the satisfaction of
knowing that their contribution
will be doubled,” said Dan.
Through the match, donors can
have an even greater impact on
the success of the Teach Reach
Grow Campaign.
The response to the match has
indeed been inspiring, with over
40 new donors making gifts in
the two months since it was
announced. One such donor is
Mr. Warren Burt, a long-time
annual giving donor and
grandparent of current Eton
student, Sara Debono. “Giving
to Eton is important to me—I
have seen the difference Eton
has made for my granddaughter
and I’m thrilled to know my gift
to the capital campaign will go
twice as far.”
Spreading the word about the
matching gift opportunity is an
important part of our campaign
strategy over the next 3
months.
We hope you will join us by telling your
family and friends about this
special opportunity.

Livia Moray (3rd Grade)
“Eton can help more kids
because we know how to help
people with learning
challenges.”
Dickson Mogaka (8th Grade)
“I view the expansion as an
opportunity to make new
friends, and for more kids
with learning challenges to
come to Eton.”
Jacob Peterson (11th Grade)
“Eton is a safe, loving, and
friendly environment, and for
more people to be able to
come is a great thing.”
