Tri-Valley Conservancy Preserving Land for Future Gene

Tri-Valley Conservancy unveiled its North Livermore Resource ConservatiPlan on February 5. The meeting was held at the Robert Livermore Community Center.

Te meeting began with a Power Pointpresentation to the eighty attendees by Heath Bartosh, from Nomad EcologicalConsulting. Bartosh walked the audiencthrough the highlights of the plan showithe methods used for prioritizing parcel

How does the Plan identify important lands?

Te Plan uses a series of goals related to VCs mission of protecting lands, habitat and public recreation. Te were mapped and scored using site visits and aerial photography to provide data on soils, plants, and anima

What are the conservation values listed in the Plan?

High conservation values are given to prime agriculture lands,endangered habitats for plants and wildlife, sensitive vegetation,and potential trails. Lands with high conservation values are apriority for future conservation.

What priorities in the Plan will be used to determine possiblefuture preservation? protecting biological resources establishing wildli e migration corridors protecting lands around the alkali sink establishing trail corridors preserving prime armland expanding bu ers o existing urban growth boundaries

New Director We are pleased to announce the seating o at-large DirectorKathy Farrell . Kathy joined the VC Boardin June 2008 and is currently serving as Chair o the Resource Development Committee. She has beena resident o Livermore since 1956. A ter college she became an employee o the Lawrence LivermoreNational Laboratory where she was employed or 10 years. She le t the Laboratory in 1985 to pursuean entrepreneurial opportunity to own her own State Farm Insurance agency. She is actively involvedin the service oriented Rotary Club o Livermore and she is a ounding board member o the Center oCommunity Dispute Settlement.

Rik Hansen, Chair Rick joined the VC Board as an at-large Director in October 2004 and hasserved as VC Vice-Chair or the pasttwo years.

Jean King, Vice-Chair Jean has served as the appointee o theCity o Livermore to the VC Boardsince 2004 and as reasurer or the pastthree years.

Changing of the GuardJim Perry Honored or His AchievementsTwo years ago Jim Perry took on the mantle of TVC Chair. Little did he knowhow much time and energy it would take to fulfill his responsibilities. On Jan15, 2009 Jim was honored for his service to TVC as he stepped down from thChairmanship. Rik Hansen presented Jim with a plaque as a reminder of the whe has accomplished. We thank Jim for his commitment and service as Chair TVC and look forward to his continued support as a Director on the board.

Mary Roberts, Secretary Mary was appointed to the Board o the

ri-Valley Conservancy in 2007 by theCity o Pleasanton.

Karl Wente, Treasurer Karl was appointed to the VC Board

in 2004 by the Livermore Valley Winegrowers Association and has

served as Secretary o VC or the pasttwo years.
