We may think that Lent is only about fasting from food or abstaining from meat, but no. The Church encourages us to give more time to prayer, to offer personal service to needy people, and to give up something we really like, not something we’ll never miss. The only thing we can’t do is avoid Lent altogether. This would separate us from God and the community of faith, and seriously call our discipleship into question. These additional practices and penances should deepen our awareness of our daily gifts from our all-loving God. Shifting our attention away from ourselves frees us to offer our abilities and resources to God, to God’s church, and to our world. This Lent let’s count our blessings—each and every one—and ask God to conform our hearts even more to the divine will. SCHOOL NEWS

Words cannot express everything that is in our heart to say a HUGE "THANK YOU" to everyone who helped with Sue Cisewski's Benefit on March 6. Thank you to those who made donations, volunteered, set up, took down, cleaned up, served, bid on the auction items, ate the dinner ... the list goes on. How can one say what we feel in our hearts for all of you... we explode with gratitude! Sue & Al and their family are soooooo grateful for everything. !"#$%&#%'"#(%)*+,-.*/(%0&1"/2A parishioner stopped by this morning asking how to name Guardian Angels as the beneficiary on his life insurance policy. More and more parishioners are choosing to recognize and honor their spiritual family when naming beneficiaries and memorials. If death benefit proceeds are no longer needed to protect your family (or whatever purpose it once served), you can donate an old or no longer needed life insurance policy to Guardian Angels. If the policy has a cash value, you would be eligible for an immediate deduction of that amount and, the donation removes the future death benefit from your taxable estate. While life insurance is generally Income tax-free, it is not Estate tax-free. Guardian Angels would then, as owner and beneficiary, have the option of surrendering the policy for its cash value or using the future death benefits to build an endowment. If you are thinking of adding Guardian Angels to your life insurance policy or would like more information please contact Catholic Community Foundation at 651-389-0300 or parishioner and Financial Advisor, Mark Sanda at 952-361-5533.

Pastoral Care Ministry Profile=.-9%<.>"*;%<"*"+$-2The primary purpose of the Card Making Ministry is to make and give hundreds of cards each year to G.A. parishioners and others in spiritual need. This is a no-cost ministry to Guardian Angels. We are able to support the ministry through donations of supplies, stamps and the sales of cards which are available in the parish office. We meet on the third Tuesday of each month from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in St.

Francis Hall. At these meetings we concentrate our efforts on making cards for different groups such as retirement/nursing homes, grieving family members, Veterans Homes, etc. Creativity is not necessary! We provide ideas and supplies. We also welcome your cards made at home for our various needs – especially Thinking of You and Sympathy cards. We do have card packets available filled with everything you’ll need to make 6-12 cards if you’d like to choose that option. These cards can be dropped off at the Parish Office. The Card Ministry is sponsored by the Daughters of Isabella.
