Dear Parishioners, The woman caught in the act of adultery demonstrates Jesus’ deep care for the women who had been used by the scribes and Pharisees as a way of undermining Jesus' credibility. Jesus gives two responses--one non-verbal and the other verbal. At first, Jesus says nothing and merely bends down and writes on the ground. Symbolically, this means Jesus refuses to engage in the issues. Sometimes, saying nothing, not getting into the game playing is our best response. Jesus ignores his accusers and their questions. Jesus' second response is directed to the scribes and Pharisees. He moves beyond the legal question and focuses on the issue of sin – not the woman's sin, but that of her accusers. He calls them to accountability, and they fail. From the elders on down, they shamefully leave. There is no condemnation for the woman, only compassion. Christ's followers were skeptical when He preached the reality of His Body and Blood as food and drink. St. John said, "many of His disci-ples withdrew and no longer went about with Him."

Seeing this, Jesus asked the Twelve, "Do you also want to leave me?" Simon Peter did not understand any more than those who left Christ, but his loyalty was more firm. "Lord," he said, "to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life." We have the "Word of Eternal Life" right here with us day and night in our Adoration Chapel. Do you have something you want to ask Him? There are several hours needing adorers. Please pick one for your personal hour with Him.

HOLY THURSDAY PILGRIMAGE REVIVAL OF A TIMELESS TRADITION

Immediately following the 7:00 PM Mass of the Lord’s Supper, St. John Brebeuf Parish offers the opportunity to revive the age-old tradition of the “Visitation of Churches”. We are invited to pray with our Lord late into the night, through the sacrament of the Mass, followed by an evening visiting five “Altars of Repose” throughout Chicago. Chartered school buses will pick us up outside of St. John Brebeuf and will whisk us from church to church for our evening of prayer. The Churches we tentatively plan to visit are: St. Hyacinth Basilica, Holy Trinity, St. Stanislaus Kostka, St. John Cantius, and St. Mary of the Angels. The evening will end with night prayer at about midnight, when the buses return us to St. John Brebeuf. Reservations are not only a must, but they are limited too. POLISH CHILDREN'S CHOIR and ENGLISH CHILDREN'S CHOIR

We are organizing a NEW SJB CHILDREN’S CHOIR to sing in Polish for the St. John Brebeuf celebration of First Holy Communion (in Polish) on Saturday, May 7th at 2:00 p.m. We need all children who can speak Polish and love to sing to come out and create this new fun group! Especially invited are the siblings of those who will receive our Lord at this liturgy. Four rehearsals will prepare us to celebrate with the First Communicants. Children will have the opportunity to learn about basic sing-ing, and we will learn music for the mass and hymns. Children age 9-17 are invited.

A $15 fee will cover new binders and music.

Niles Family Fitness Center Instructor Beau Desherow will be the key note speaker at the Men’s Club general meeting scheduled for Monday, March 14th. Jezus daje dwie odpowiedzi - jedną niewerbalną i drugą werbalną. Na początku Jezus nie mówi nic pochylając się tylko i pisząc na ziemi. Symbolicznie oznacza to Jezus nie chce angażować się w kwestie. Zdarza się, że nic nie mówiąc, nie bierzemy udziału w grze i to jest naszą najlepszą odpowiedzią. Jezus niejako ignoruje oskarżycieli i ich pytania. Druga odpowiedź Jezusa skierowana jest do uczonych w Piśmie i faryzeuszy. Porusza się poza pytaniem prawnym i skupia się na kwestii grzechu - nie grzech kobiety, ale jej oskarżycieli. Wzywa ich do odpowiedzialności, w której są przegrani. Począwszy od starszych do wszystkich innych, wstydliwie odchodzą. Nie ma żadnego potępienia dla tych kobiet, tylko współczucie.
