added for stainless tubes and narrow stripfor the construction and ornamental sector, while the well-established dedicated unit inContino, near the headquarters, specializesin stainless steel bright bar (30,000 tonnesof production in 2012).

In the Americas, Marcegaglia can count ona manufacturing unit in the USA and on ahuge facility in Southern Brazil.

Marcegaglia USA, located in Munhall (Penn-sylvania), is dedicated to the manufacturingof stainless steel, duplex and high nickel al-loy pipe and tubing, for high added value ap-plications in food and beverage (such as thebeer industry), desalination and tar sands, alongside a wide range of applications suchas decoration, process and automotive, plusa new range of galvanized tubular products.

The production plant of Marcegaglia do Bra-sil, inaugurated in October 2000 and loca-ted in Garuva, (southern state of Santa Ca-tarina), has recently doubled its surface areato increase the manufacturing capacity ofcarbon and stainless steel precision weldedtubes. The plant also has a dedicated rangeof refrigeration tubes and components forthe appliance industry and hosts a servicecentre for coil slitting and cutting-to-length.The range of products includes tubes formechanical and automotive applications, process pipes for fluids, tubes for conden-sers and custom-engineered finished refri-geration components. This facility operatesaccording to top quality standards, includingCRCC Petrobras qualification for the petro-chemical industry, and has recently obtai-ned environmental certification ISO 14001.Turning to China, the Italian group has star-ted its first manufacturing plant there dedi-cated to the production of stainless and car-bon steel welded precision tubes. the Gazoldo degli Ippoliti plant (Italy’sgroup HQ): more than Euro100m for newprocessing capacities for stainless steelcoils, sheets and flat bars. Within an inte-grated strategy of expansion, Marcegag-lia has doubled the number of units dedi-cated to the processing of flat products inorder to widen its flat stainless steel pro-duct offering, as well as to sustain itstube making capacity. In the Gazoldoplant, two annealing and pickling lines andtwo cold rolling and skin pass lines arenow capable of processing hot rolled steel(1D finish) from 2 to 6mm thickness witha global annual capacity of 500,000tonnes, and cold rolled steel (2B finish)with a capacity of 250,000 tonnes. Thesecoil processing lines can also supply in-line edge slitting.

In the sec-tor of cold-drawn weldedtubes, Marcegaglia isbringing its pioneeringtechnology to the Chinese market, whereseamless tubes have traditionally been used.

Marcegaglia Russia, the manufacturing unitfor stainless steel products in the city of Vla-dimir (some 180km East of Moscow) aimsto become the leader in Russia in the stain-less steel transformation segment, focusingin the first stage on welded tube production, then gradually establishing itself as a ser-vice centre for flat products. Production isorganized through six tube welding lines (TIG,laser and high frequency), plus slitting andcutting facilities and finishing lines.

Downstream, Marcegaglia can count on in-tegrated production of stainless sheets, flatbars and strip. The brand new cut-to-lengthline at the Gazoldo degli Ippoliti plant canprocess both hot rolled and cold rolled ma-terials with optional polishing (220-240-320grit), or Scotchbrite brushing, with the op-tion of protection with paper or laser film oneach sheet, plus an automated packagingsystem for standard packages from 1,500kgweight. Moreover, a dedicated productionfacility for stainless steel strip for specialtyapplications is now under development.

All flat production at Marcegaglia is carriedout according to two main manufacturingstandards: EN 10088-4 - for structural, build-ing and construction applications with theCE marking - and EN 10028-7 - for all pres-sure purposes applications - certified by TÜV:

AD 2000-W2 for pressure equipment andW10 for low temperature pressure equip-ment.

The result is a unique position for Marce-gaglia on the European market as a coilprocessor and re-roller, service centre andstockholder. Thanks to stainless steel coilprocessing, the group can be consideredas an independent player that can supplyboth other service centres and large endusers, as well as manufacturers of tubesand profiles. In the narrow strip market, thanks to dedicated lines, Marcegaglia candirectly reach end-users in the automo-tive and white goods sectors as well asmanufacturers of tubes and open profiles. While the stainless sheet production al-lows the group to concentrate on supp-lying other distribution centres and stock-holders from stock. Key features that al-low Marcegaglia to enter and to face themarket with a new set of added values:unique variety of services, high flexibility, quick response and stock availability ofstandard sizes.

Marcegaglia will be exhibiting at Stainless2013 in Brno on stand 2B
