Kevin Smith - 11-12 Baseball League Director
June 15, 2013
PARMA HEIGHTS – Timely hitting and dominating pitching is a key to winning.
Factor in some stellar fi elding just for kicks as Marc Anthony’s Painting rolled past
Ultra Graphics 6-1 on Saturday night at Kurtz Park.
“We’re a good, solid hitting team,” said Marc Anthony’s Painting manager Marc
Skory. “As long as the kids stay focused and hit the ball we’ll be right there in all
of the games. That’s what wins games, hitting and pitching.”
Marc Anthony’s Painting struck fi rst in the bottom of the fi rst inning with three
runs. John Hoehn clubbed a double to left fi eld which plated Justin Haverdill.
Brandon Skory followed suit with a double to left to bring in Hoehn. Brady
Karpus reached on a throwing error which brought Skory in to score.
The three runs were all Marc Anthony’s Painting would need on the night as the
pitching stole the show. Skory pitched three perfect innings while fanning eight
of the nine batters he faced. J. Haverdill added three innings of work while only
scattering two hits.
Not to be outdone was the pitching by Ultra Graphics. Starter Neil Szymanski
struck out fi ve in his three innings of work while Kevin Ivancic mowed down four
batters.
Marc Anthony’s Painting added another run in the bottom of the third. Aaron
Kozickie started it off with a walk, stole second and scored when Skory mashed a
triple down the left fi eld line.
Ultra Graphics fi nally found some off ensive rhythm in the fourth inning. Wayne

Grindle walked to start the inning before coming around to score on a Jeff Kubes
single down the left fi eld line. Ivancic added a opposite fi eld single later in the
inning for Ultra Graphic’s second and fi nal hit of the contest.
Marc Anthony’s Painting added two insurance runs in the bottom of the fi fth

The start of the game did not look promising for a bit due to a slight drizzle
throughout the early evening but Ultra Graphics’ manager Ken Ivancic was glad
to get the game in as it was already a make-up game from Monday’s rain.
“It was good though,” said Ivancic. “We got it in today. I thought for sure we’d get
rained out.”
Tommy Dotson, Dominic Kucera and Austin Legg also played in the game
for Ultra Graphics but did not record a hit. Likewise for Jaydon Coyne and Chris
Haverdill for Marc Anthony’s Painting.
Ryan Dowdy and Giovanni Tabasso are also members of Ultra Graphics while
Jacob Herbster, Tyler Maluk and Dominick Sawyer play for Marc Anthony’s
