Koinonikos - The April issue of the Dayspring newsletter is now available for pick up in the narthex for those who have chosen that option.

Pillow Talk - It’s not too late for 3rd - 6th graders to sign up for Pillow Talk, to be held on April 1st and 2nd. Registration forms are available in the Church Office. Contact [email protected] for more information.

Family Promise - Dayspring hosted Family Promise from March 20-27. Tablecloths, towels and linens used during the week need to be washed. Volunteers are needed to grab a cloth bag of laundry from the courtyard, wash the bag and its contents, and return it to the church office under the Family Promise box. Thank you so much for your help!

Dayspring Youth Ministry (DYM):* All Church Picnic: There is no Formation or Confirmation today so that all youth can help with our All Church Picnic which will be held on the east side of Waggoner Park beginning at 11:30A.M. Beginning at 10:00A.M., both Formation classes will join together with the United Methodist Men to get tables, grilles, and everything else set up at the park. See you all there! * Flamingo Flocking is coming: Our final (and most funfilled)

Sierra Service Project fundraiser will be held Friday, April 8 from 8:00PM - midnight. We will again be delivering flamingos to unsuspecting recipients, under cover of darkness. We need your help, so please sign-up in the Youth rooms.

Explorer’s Class new series: “Jesus: The Meaning of His Life and Death” begins this morning at 9:00 a.m. in the Adult Room. This 4-week series will deal with the following topics: 3/27 - Original Sin and how it is related to the Atonement; 4/3 - Jesus’ Program; “The Kingdom of God”; 4/10 - Who killed Jesus? The Jews, the Romans, All of us?; 4/17 - The Atonement: Various interpretations of this important doctrine. Jane Baker will facilitate.

Contemporary Issues - The Contemporary Issues Class will discuss “Reclaiming Civil Discourse in America.” Political and civil expression has become intolerant, one sided and unfair. What we hear and read suggests that American discourse has become so toxic as to be totally

Page 11: Mar. 27 Bulletin

unproductive. We’ll discuss how we can restore civility to America’s political discourse. The class will be led by Eleonore and George Kerbs.Brown Bag Lunch - Come join us for Brown Bag Lunch every Tuesday at 12:00 noon. Bring your own lunch and socialize with people from the church. We always have a good time! Come and be part of this fun group.

Singles at Dayspring -Singles, Etc. Lunches - Each Sunday after the second service, those who want to go out for lunch as a group meet at the restaurant listed below. If you attend first service, please join us! We gather around noon under the name “Dayspring”. March 27 - Windy City Café - SE corner of Elliot and McClintock.

Justice Class - During March and April, every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Adult Room, a course on justice will be offered. We have a helpful DVD that practices polite disagreements and careful reflections. Methodism started as a “big tent” religion and justice was in the air of the Industrial Revolution in England. Presented by Craig Carpenter and John Fielden.

Koinonikos Schedule - The next deadline date for the newsletter is April 15, and will include events in the month of May.
