What should be mapped?
Validity Any assessment decision of the RTO is justified, based on the
evidence of performance of the individual learner.
Validity requires:
assessment against the unit/s of competency and the
associated assessment requirements covers the broad range of
skills and knowledge that are essential to competent performance;
assessment of knowledge and skills is integrated with their practical
application;
assessment to be based on evidence that demonstrates that a
learner could demonstrate these skills and knowledge in other
similar situations; and
judgement of competence is based on evidence of learner
performance that is aligned to the unit/s of competency and
associated assessment requirements.

Unit of Competency and Associated Assessment Requirements…
Streamlined Training Packages• Elements & Performance Criteria
• Foundation Skills (where required)
• Performance Evidence
• Knowledge Evidence
• Assessment Conditions if specific
Example Template
• Spreadsheet method
• Could be adapted to Word document
• Know what your assessment tools and methods are
• Learn the shortcut keys for copying and pasting!
• CTRL+C and CTRL+V
• Standalone and clustered assessment
Back to our assessment tools…
• Mapping checklists (not instructions)
• Doesn’t take much tweaking to add numbering to
the checklists
• Number is then matched to the line and column on
the spreadsheet
• Each item (number) can match to more than one
item on the spreadsheet
• Each item (number) can match to more than one
unit (clustered)
