SCHOOL SHAKESPEARE PLAY: KING LEAR Thursday 1 and Friday 2 May 7.45pm – Speech Room
Shakespeare’s great tragedy has two interlinked plots, each of a family disastrously riven: an elderly king aims to divide his kingdom among his three daughters and to retire from direct rule, while an elderly earl is deceived by one son into rejecting the other. Compounded by the malice of others, the king’s own errors and the earl’s own loyalties lead to terrible consequences. Not suitable for younger children.
Tickets are not required.
THE OLD HARROVIAN PLAYERS: THE MERCHANT OF VENICE Friday 9 and Saturday 10 May 7.45pm – Speech Room
For their 63rd annual Shakespeare play, The Old Harrovian Players present The Merchant of Venice. This production, performed in traditional period costume, unites familiar faces with emerging professional talent. Audiences will enjoy another fast-paced, dynamic production directed by Old Harrovian Charlie Ward, who is returning to the Hill to direct one of Shakespeare’s most enduring and controversial plays in what promises to be an exhilarating production.
Tickets (£10 for adults; £5 for all concessions) can be purchased on the door

THE CODRINGTON COLLECTION Thursday 1 May – Thursday 27 March
Admiral Sir Edward Codrington fought with Nelson at Trafalgar and became ‘Redeemer of Greece’ at the battle of Navarino, in 1827. The Codrington family have an exceptionally long association with Harrow and their Trust has generously lent not only some of the Admiral’s most important naval treasures but items associated with Vice-Admiral Sir Henry Codrington and letters of Lady Bourchier.
COPTIC TEXTILES CONSERVED Thursday 1 May – Tuesday 24 June
Twenty six fragments of beautifully woven and embroidered early Christian textiles found in Egypt by the Reverend Greville Chester (1830-1892) entered the School collection in 1890. They are on exhibition this term as part of the OSRG programme of Collections Conservation.
THE BOY AIRMAN: AN ABSOLUTE STRANGER TO FEAR Thursday 8 May – Tuesday 9 December
The photographs in this exhibition were taken by Hugh Mortimer Petty, one of the youngest pilots to have flown in the First World War. From his training days at Eastchurch in 1917 to his witnessing of the surrender of the German High Sea Fleet in November 1918, his photographs provide a unique record of the conflict.

MUSIC PRIZE FINALS Wednesday 18 June 2.00pm – Music Schools 7.45pm – Speech Room

ACIS AND GALATEA Saturday 21 June 6.00pm – Canons, North London Collegiate
Handel composed Acis and Galatea in 1718 when he was living at Cannons (as it was spelt at the time), then the seat of the first Duke of Chandos. Tradition has it that this witty pastoral masque was first performed there that summer, on the terrace overlooking the garden. Nearly 300 years later, a chorus of pupils from Harrow and North London Collegiate School will be joined by professional soloists, orchestra and top international baroque conductor, Laurence Cummings, for what promises to be a magical evening. Tickets can be booked via www.handelhouse.org/downloads/Acis_Booking_Form.pdf
