Dear Parents and Community Members,
Pentecost Prayer
Breathe in me O Holy Spirit
that my thoughts may all be holy;
Act in me O Holy Spirit
that my works, too, may be holy;
Draw my heart O Holy Spirit
that I love what is holy;
Strengthen me O Holy Spirit
to defend all that is holy;
Guard me then O Holy Spirit
that I always may be holy.

School Cyclic Review
This week our school is involved in a School Cyclic Review (SCR).
The SCR provides an opportunity for a panel of educators, external
to the school, to affirm, challenge and report on the improvement
journey of the school. SCR focuses on the effectiveness of a
school’s engagement with self-review, the impact of self-review on
school improvement and the future directions for the
improvement of student outcomes that the school has identified.
SCR occurs once in a five-year period and contributes to the
compliance of school re-registration regulations in this state. The
SRC panel will be visiting our school tomorrow, Wednesday 7th
June and Thursday 8th June. As part of that process they will be
meeting with the Leadership Team, a selection of staff, students,
Parish Priest and nominees from the School Board and P&F. At the
conclusion of the SCR Panel visit, a report that comments on our
school improvement processes and strategic direction will be
written and forwarded to the school.

There will be a short meeting for parents following Mass in the Thomas Little Hall. Class Liturgies Last week the Year 2’s celebrated and gave thanks for winter during their class Liturgy. Thank you to Fr Wayne for his words of wisdom, and thank you to the parents and grandparents in attendance. Pre-Primary and Year 1 have their class Liturgy this Thursday at 11.00am. Kindergarten 2018 Letters of offer were sent last week for places in Kindergarten 2018. Please return you acceptance as soon as possible. There will be a parent meeting in November and Kindy Café will commence on Mondays in Term 4.
P&F Disco Friday afternoon/evening is the ‘Mexican’ Disco in our school Hall. Kindy to Year 2 will attend from 5.30-7.00pm. Years 3-6 have their disco from 7.15-9.00pm. Thank you to our hard-working P&F for organising this event. Parent Survey Feedback Some feedback received in the recent parent survey enquired about the Physical Education program in our school. Each classroom teacher is responsible for the Physical Education program for their class, based on the WA Curriculum. Each class has two sessions per week, generally one session is skills-based and the other session is a games-based activity, putting into practise the skills that are being taught. In addition, sporting clinics are arranged from time to time to boost skills and utilise the expertise of specialised coaches. This year, we have already had a series of cricket clinics and are in the middle of a series of Australian Rules Football clinics. These have been supported by grants received from Sporting Schools Australia. Later this month, the Year 4, 5 and 6 students are participating in a Lightning Carnival in Donnybrook, competing against other schools in netball, soccer and football. Next Term, in weeks 7 and 8, swimming lessons will be held for all classes from PP-6. Early in Term 4, on Friday 13th October our school sports carnival will be held. Two weeks after that, on Friday 27th October, is our Interschool Sports Carnival in Bunbury. Nature Play Thank you to all who have contributed to the next stages of this amazing play space for our students. The Busy Bee on Saturday 27th May was very well attended and great things were achieved, with further developments in two informal working days on Friday and Sunday during the long weekend. Without our community commitment and dedication, we would not have this incredible play space. Vicki Noonan, we thank you! Parking and Bus Safety Please park in the car park areas and not on the verge, as this reduces visibility and is unsafe for families and students. Just a reminder that parking near the library is dangerous in the afternoons as this is a bus pick-up area. Also, our bus drivers are concerned about cars leaving the Prayer House car park between buses, where it is impossible to see if the road is clear. Remember that safety of our students and families is our highest priority, please be patient and careful during the busy drop-off and pick-up times. NAIDOC Activity Afternoon This Friday 9th June, from lunch time, we will be combining with students and staff from Dardanup Primary School for an afternoon of activities celebrating NAIDOC week. Parents are welcome to join us.
Board Meeting The next Board meeting will be held on Tuesday 13 June at 5.30pm in the Staff Room. Winter Carnival Umpires We are still seeking parents to assist in netball umpiring on Wednesday 21st June. No prior experience needed. If you are planning on going to watch on the day and you can assist in umpiring please email Luke Skehan at [email protected] Have a wonderful week May God bless you Mrs Angela Hegney
LOST SCHOOL JUMPERS
The weather is becoming colder, more jumpers are being
worn to school… and lost.
Could everyone please check the tags on any school jumpers
that have come home to ensure they belong to your child;
many labeled/named jumpers have been lost in the past few
weeks.
Thank you

Gospel Reading John 3:16-18 God sent his Son into the world to save the world.
Because of God’s great love for us, he sent his Son, Jesus, to save the world. Jesus, in turn, sent the Holy Spirit so that our faith in God and his love would be strengthened. The nurturing experiences of family life also help us to understand and have faith in God’s love.
Create a family poster together showing all the ways in which your family experiences God’s great love. Use symbols, pictures, and words to show how you have seen God at work in your family life and in our history.

MJR Focus this term: Spirit Of Jesus Moments
Core Value: Compassion
Some questions to think about:
Where was Jesus in my life today?
The spirit of Jesus lives in our hearts, we are the model of
Jesus on Earth.
How we greet, treat and speak to each other is
important.
Jesus spirit comes out in small acts; kindness, helping,
being cheerful, giving, forgiving, welcoming and saying
thanks.
Get “switched on” to seeing the spirit of Jesus in others
and yourself.
CLASS NEWS
In Year 3 we have been doing research and writing animal reports. In Maths, we have been comparing and measuring area. We have started practising for our class liturgy and our assembly item.
The Year 2's went on a fantastic excursion to King
Cottage. We stepped back in time and learnt lots
of things about living in the past. We loved
washing the socks using a washboard, and were
amazed that 7 children could sleep in 2 beds and 1
cot. We are very glad that we do not need to use
the same toilets as they did in the olden days.
We also enjoyed a beautiful class liturgy with Fr
Wayne. Our theme was 'winter'. It was the first
time that we had a liturgy in the Church and we
were very excited.
In Year 5 we have been learning all about democracy. We have investigated the rights and responsibilities of voters and how laws are made - who knew it was so complicated? In Writing, we have chosen an environmental issue that we are interested in and we are learning how to focus on a particular topic within that area, so we can teach people about our environment. We are really enjoying using the Chrome Books for lots of learning areas like comprehension, note-taking, Religious Education and coding!
In Year 6 we have been busy in Maths with all things Angles, as well as trying a bit of year 8 maths for a challenge. In Science we have been making ghost houses using electrical circuits. In English we have been studying figurative language. We have been enjoying the football clinic where we compete in mini competitions for prizes!
We have been busy in Pre Primary investigating books written by Eric Carle. We have learnt about so many new insects and have created some wonderful pieces of work. In Mathematics we are investigating patterns, and learning how create patterns for our friends to solve. We have been busy learning how to recognise numbers to 20, and concentrating on slowing down when we count larger groups of numbers. We are looking forward to our class Liturgy this week with the Year Ones.
The Kindy class have been busy finishing off our unit of work on the senses. Using our nose, hands, eyes, ears and taste buds, we have learnt so much about our world! We have been working hard to complete work samples for our Portfolio, which will be sent home at the end of this term. Mrs Madaffari is also looking forward to meeting with our parents, in Parent-Teacher Interviews, during weeks 9 and 10 of this term. A note will be going home this week so keep an eye out!
In Year 4 we have been busy preparing for our assembly based on the book "The Lorax" by Dr Seuss. In English we have kept with the Dr Seuss theme and have been studying not only The Lorax but other Dr Seuss titles. In Maths we completed an investigation on angles, which required us to plan 3 mini golf holes and show the perfect shot for the hole. We then looked for acute, obtuse and right angles in the shots.
In Literacy, the Year 1’s have been writing procedures, narratives and
letters . We have really enjoyed writing narratives with magical lands and
characters. We have been writing letters to characters from 'The Wind in
the Willows'.
In maths, we have been learning how to read graphs for information.
We are looking forward to the school disco on Friday and our Liturgy with
the Pre-primary class on Thursday.
Thank you to all who assisted. Special thanks to Vicki Noonan for her coordination.
We are so grateful for all the assistance we have received.
