Welding

Verolme® Special Equipment has invested in the most advan-ced welding equipment and welding techniques known in the industry. We comply with the highest welding-standards to ensure the quality of our equipment. Our high tech welding equipment is capable of welding thicknesses upto 250 mm. Va-rious welding techniques for the fabrication of high-end pres-sure equipment are in house: ESW (electro slag welding), FCAW (flux cored arc welding), HWGTAW (hot wire TIG welding), etc. For the fabrication of heat exchangers we have got high tech orbital welding equipment.

Materials

For the special equipment that we usually fabricate, we will only use the best available materials. To have access to those materials we have teamed up with the best possible suppliers. Our procurement strategy is based on knowhow, quality, relia-bility and competitiveness. Materials that we regularly process are carbon steels, low alloy steels, stainless steels, clad steels, nickel alloys, copper alloys, zirconium, titanium etc.

Verolme 800H Modified®

Our own material developed to prevent the occurrence of Stress Relaxation Cracking, which may occur in equipment opera-ting in high temperature environments (550 - 750°C or 1.022 - 1.382°F). Development took place in close collaboration with research institutes as well as end customers. The Verolme 800H Modified® philosophy not only constitutes of additional ma-terial restrictions, but also comprises additional requirements for handling, welding, heat treatment, etc. Until today we have fabricated over 4.000 metric tons of Verolme 800H Modified® equipment to the full satisfaction of the end customers.

Engineering

One of our most valuable assets is our engineering depart-ment. Our team of skilled engineers contributes to the deve-lopment of process equipment and provides valuable insight, know-how, and advice to our customers. We have extended experience with the use of ‘exotic’ materials and manufactu-ring equipment in the high temperature, high pressure, and corrosion range.

We like to emphasize that we have a proven excellence in the design, fabrication and welding of high-end process equip-ment. Usually our products are used for purposes at high pressure, high temperatures and in highly aggressive/corrosive environments. We continuously focus on innovation and qua-lity. And therefore, amongst others, we cooperate with various strategic material suppliers. Besides that, Verolme® Special Equipment can quickly respond in emergency situations and we are able to fabricate equipment at short delivery times.

History

1946 – 1983Established by Cornelis Verolme in Rotterdam, Verolme grows to become the largest shipbuilder in the Netherlands.

1983Verolme’s shipbuilding business collapses. Start of two new innovative companies: ‘Verolme Machinefabriek IJsselmonde’, a machine manufacturing company, and ‘Verolme Montage IJsselmonde’, a construction company.

1987Verolme Machinefabriek IJsselmonde is transformed into a professional equipment manufacturer. The company is split into ‘Verolme Machinefabriek’ and ‘Verolme Apparatenbouw’, a high-end equipment manufacturer.

1998VSE fabricates the first products in Verolme 800H Modified® material with unique product characteristics.

2002Verolme Apparatenbouw is relaunched by Mr. Van den Berg, Managing Director of the company as Verolme® Special Equipment (VSE).

2006In addition to the oil & gas industry and (petro) chemical industry, VSE starts to focus on manufacturing high-end equipment for the polysilicon industry.

2006 – 2007VSE receives a large order, totaling EUR 40m from a US customer in the polysilicon industry.

2007Mr. Van den Berg acquires VSE, making him 100% shareholder of the company.

2009In april 2009 the company moves to its new facilities in Moerdijk.

2015Change in ownership and Management Board.

Verolme® Special Equipment is certified according to ISO 9001 / 2008; ASME U1 & U2,NBBI U, U2 and NBBI R, TÜV HP0, TÜV EN ISO 3834-2, PED 2014/68/EU Module H1.Also we have a manufacturing license for China. Furthermore, we design and manu-facture according to ASME VIII div 1 & 2, AD 2000, RToD, CODAP 2000, PD 5500 and EN 13445.

Verolme® Special Equipment is ideally located inside 16.000 m2 of industrial space in Moerdijk (The Netherlands). The total facilities occupy 6.000 m2. We have 180MT of lifting capabilities to a height of 13 meters. There is a 2.400 m2 clean room for the production of ‘white’ materials such as titanium, stainless steel, and nickel alloys.
