    PNEUMATIC CONTROLLED ELEVATOR

    1. GENERAL DESCRIPTIONSIt is a pneumatic driven person elevator with replaces ladders, scaffolding etc. to

create a safe and effective working place.

The GL1010 is a three dimensional elevator that hangs and runs on rails mounted high

on the sidewalls. The lower end of the GL1010 has wheels witch only touch the wall,

    not the floor.

The cage is equipped with a simple control panel for up/down, in/out and sideway

movement. For the vertical and the horizontal movement, the GL1010 is equippedwith pneumatic drives, where as a pneumatic motor takes care the lateral movement.

GL1010 has been designed with a great attention for the safety of the user, that s the

reason there is a protection against cracks in the pneumatic circuit, overload and

collision detection, its important to mention, that the safety instructions, mentioned in

    this manual.

Additional there is a possibility for the compressed air outlet in the cage to avoid the

need for trailing hoses to the tools.

    WARNING!!

Before the installation and the first use read and understand these instructions. Never use the platforms as a jack, crane or similar. Follow all safety instructions. Be careful during installation, use and maintenance. Climbing on the cage or pole is forbidden. The operator must pay attention for the presence of other people in the spray

    booth.

Use only original spare parts. Follow the instructions provided. Never exceed maximum load. Keep the access doors closed while using the platform. Do not use ladders, chairs, etc. inside the cage. Make sure that the user wears and armor when he has to lean out of the cage!!

    5. INSTALLING

    5.1 Recommended tools

The following tools can be used to install the lift:

Hand tools: Drill, level measuring system, pen tape, hacksaw,

    hammer

Welding equipment: Suitable for 5mm steel (MIG or stick welding)

Welding on a height of 4,5m

    Wires

    Safety equipment: gloves, safety glasses.

Hoist: Must comply with all the necessary safety rules

    capacityof minimum 500kg.

    PNEUMATIC CONTROLLED ELEVATOR

    5.2 Checking the floor level

    For your safety

Only use tested and certified lifting equipment. Ensure quality control of all welds and fixings. Reinforce the wall at the wall at the lower wheels if its too flexible or weak. Check that the covers for the installation opening are fitted to the top rails. Do not apply compressed air before installation and checking all the end

    buffers.

Stand clear of the GL1010 when first applying air pressure.

Use suitable safety equipment (shoes, gloves, glasses

) Climbing on the cage or on the poles is forbidden. The fixation of the rails on the wall must be able to cope with the mentioned

forces. If necessary, the wall must be reinforced.

Assembly maintenance en use of the GL1010 may only happen by trainpeople who know about the contents of the manual.

Assembly must happen by minimum 2 persons.

Before installation starts, the level and flatness of the ground have to be checked. The

Following method assumes that a simple laser is available.

Set the laser at convenient height above the floor level (aprox. 100mm) at one side of

the booth and close to the end. Adjust the beam to measure a target at the same heightat the same corner of the end of the booth.(same side). Instead of a laser, you can use

a rope for the same result.

Measure and record the distance from the beam to floor level at 1-1.5m intervals. The

Minimum value will correspond to the highest and critical point on the floor.

Repeat the same on the other side of the booth.

    PNEUMATIC CONTROLLED ELEVATOR

5.3 Determinations controlled of the height of the upper rail

Standard mounting height for the upper rail is 4185mm above the reference

    point (upper side rail).

    9/17

    9

The laser can be used again to mark out the rail mounting height.

    5.4 Mounting the upper rail

The upper rail is generally held in position by G-profiles, witch can be fastened to thewall by welding or screwing.

The detail design varies from project, depending on the wall, but must be suitable for

    loads(exclusive safety margins):

Maximum vertical force working on the upper rail is 7500N. Maximum horizontal force, perpendicular on the wall, working on the upper rail

    in 1200N.

The G-profile or brackets have to be mounted at intervals of 2m(maximum) along the

wall, depend on the wall construction. The customer is responsible for the strength of

    the wall.

Make sure that the upper rail is mounted on the right position so the safeworkspace can be preserved!!(See picture)

This is necessary for the required moving space for the operator.

    PNEUMATIC CONTROLLED ELEVATOR

    5.4.1 Welding to the wall

The G-profile can be welded directly to the wall, witch must have vertical columns at

    intervals of 2.5m (maximum).

  • 7/31/2019 Manual Elevador 3 d Lift

    10/17

    10

The wall must stand a load of 1200N (horizontally) and 7500N(vertically) safety

    margins.

Be sure that all rail ends join properly and avoid steps in the inner surface of the rails.

To guarantee a smooth movement of GL1010 the rails must be fixed as straight as

possible. The rails are mounted in the G-profiles after that there are welded to the wall.

    5.4.2 screwed to the wall

(If the spray booth has a dividing door)

If the wall is made of concrete, stone, welding is not possible. In this case, the load

bearing G-profiles together with their brackets can screw to the wall.

Mount the rails with screw so the rail can resist to the present forces: 1200N

    horizontal and 7500N vertical.

After screwing one side and checking alignment, the rails have to be screwed to theG-profiles with bolts.

Note: each side of the booth where an GL1010 is mounted, must have 1 rail with

    installation holes.

    PNEUMATIC CONTROLLED ELEVATOR

    5.4.3 Hinges

If the booth has a dividing door, the upper rail has to be fitted with a hinged section.

It is a preferable to start installation with these hinges and install the rest of the rals

    11/17

    11

afterward because on this manner you are sure that the hinge comes on right place in

    the booth.

The hinges can be fitted directly to a standard rail length. The load bearing G-profile

has to be mounted as close as possible to the hinge and its counterpart.

Ensure correct positioning of the hinge relative to the dividing door.Fasten the hinge with clamps to the load G-profile. Ensure secure fixing!

The hinges have to work smoothly and without any problems before welding. Avoid

    steps in the rail.

    5.4.4 Lower rail

If the wall is too weak to take the forces of the lower support wheels (horizontal

1200N perpendicular on the wall and spilt by 2 wheels) or if it has steps or other

obstacles witch do not permit the wheels to run on the wall, a lower support rail is

necessary. The type of lower rail varies from project to project.

The following examples illustrate what such a rail could be:

    - Flat steel, screw to the wall

    - Rolled steel angel, screwed to the ground floor

    - Concrete step on the floor

If not specified, the front side of the lower rail should be in line with the backside of

the upper rail. In the booth with dividing doors a maximum gap of 35mm is allowed

between 2 parts of the rail. The lower wheels will easily roll over this. Bigger gaps

    demand special solutions.

    PNEUMATIC CONTROLLED ELEVATOR

    5.5 Installed of GL1010

Make sure that the hoist you use at least 500kg and it complies with the necessary

safety rules. Be ware of the fact that the GL1010 is connected safely to the hoist by

using correctly and safe material.Never install the lift alone, make that at least one person can help you.

Be alert when you hook the lift on the rail! As soon as the lift is connected in the

upper rail, the installed holes have to be covered with the matching tube

5.6 Installing the rubber end stops

Before using the lift, the rubber buffers have to be fitted inside the rail.

Those stops, fixed with bolts, are mounted on a plate that is screwed at the end of the

rail, at a distance of 200mm.

    12/17

    12

The end buffer for the lower rail needs to be mounted on an L-profile

    PNEUMATIC CONTROLLED ELEVATOR

Place the lift with his upper support wheel against the upper buffer, place, at an offset

of 5mm from the lower support wheel, the rubber end stop.

    5.7 Dismantlement

There are two holes in the upper rail so the lift can be easily unlocked from his

hanging, by means of lifting up the elevator structure, you can get the lift from

    hanging.

To protect the holes we use a plate construction that by means of a tube and bolts

can be mounted on his place. This tube must always be fitted immediately after

after mounting the elevator on the upper rail.

    5.8 Installing and air supply

The necessary compressed air is supplied by self-retracting hose reels. If not other

specified, the reels have to be installed in the middle of the booth above the upper rail, under some circumstances it can be mounted on the top of the mast. The hose has to

swerve mounted so he can turn in the right direction when the lift makes a lateral

    movement.

When installing, the net weight if the reel+ hose have been considered, the retracting

spring will become stronger and stronger the more the hose in pulled out.

Theoretically the reel could jam and the full driving force of the platform would be

    applied to the hose!

Preferable, the reel is mounted with the hose outlet at the top, unless the reel is very

    14

well clear above the top of the pole.

In general, mounting should be in accordance to the instructions enclosed with

    the reels.

After installation it is advisedable to blow through the hoses with compressed air. Thiscleans the hoses from dust..

Use only dry en filtered air to connected the lift, the air quality must be (according to

ISO 8573) at minimum class 3.5.4. This is:

The maximum magnitude of solid parts: 5 m The maximum concentration of water :5 mg/m The maximum pressure- drew point:+7 The maximum oil rest: 5mg/ m

    PNEUMATIC CONTROLLED ELEVATOR

The lift GL1010 is tested on a pressure of 6.5 bar in our factory. This is the ideal

pressure so we recommend using this pressure.

To connect the hose to the lift, we use a swerved fitting. For reasons as transport, it is

not possible to connect this fitting when the lift is delivered. The part is always

mounted on the bottom side of the cage. Remove it from this place and mounted it on

the upper side of the lift.

    15

Take care that all the connections of the pneumatic circuit are tight

When the compressed air is connected for the first time on the lift, operation people

has to keep a save distance to the elevator. This is necessary because there can be

    spontaneously movements.

    PNEUMATIC CONTROLLED ELEVATOR

    6. Tests for the first use

    See annex I

It is necessary to do a few measurements and supervisions before using the lift. On

this way it is possible the check the correctness of the installation and the regulation.

You can use the list in annex I to check all the different points. Check every point and

do not forget to write down all the necessary information.

After this supervision, a copy of the correctly filled lift must be sent to our

company, if you not do this, the warranty period can be canceled.

    6.1 Regulations of the safeties

Follow the next procedure t adjust the safeties.

    1) Load the lift with 150kg evenly divided over the platform.

    2)

    Remove the frontpanles

    3) Check the air pressure. Ideal is 6.5 bar.4) Adjust the spring (B) so the chain is tightened.

    PNEUMATIC CONTROLLED ELEVATOR

    5) Place 180kg on the platform.6) Adjust the springs (A) so the lift can not moved up when you hold the emergency

    handle up.

    7) Remove the 180kg and place approx. 100kg on the platform.8) Check all directions.9) Check the courses and the sag of the upper rail when the lift is totally pulled out.

After installing and testing, the lift is ready for use.

The lift has a control panel consisting of 3 control valves with levers, which is fixed to

    the cage.

    The right lever

    The lever in the middle

    The left lever

For your safety The cage doors must always be closes when platform is in use. Check the air pressure frequently. Check also the air condition. Never exceed the maximum working load as described on the signs and in the

    manual.

Take care for appropriate protections (glasses, shoes, gloves) Spray never paint directly on the lift. Keep the floor of the cage clean. Keep the workspace free. Always use the platform carefully and with a sense of responsibility. The lift may only be used by well trained persons who know the contents of this

    manual.

Ensure that no one is in the working range of the platform when used. Access doors to the working area of the lift should be fitted with warnings

announcing the use of the lift.

Never drive against wall or end buffers at fell speed. Climbing on the cage or the pole is forbidden Make that the user wears armor when he has to lean out of the cage.
