Introduction

Dairy feeder is a web-based feed management system that lets you access your feed data from

anywhere at any time. To access the web-based feed program all you need is the Internet. Go to

www.dairyfeeder.de and log in using your user name and password to get to your feed data. The

first time you dial in from the PDA you will also need your activation key.

You will receive your user name, password and activation key in a separate letter from Daily Feeder.

Please look after this document carefully!

Manual alteration of the ration in the PDA (change the ration before start loading)

By selecting Select you can make changes to the feed ration beforehand. Please note that all

changes made here are only made once (only for this feeding). You can make long-term changes in

the TMR pilot (web-based feeding software). The idea here is to give the feeder the possibility to

react to actual conditions at short notice. Once you have made the desired changes to the ration,

then you go to the loading process of the ration by selecting Load.

The following options are available to you here:

Change the Load order by

selecting a component

and pushing it to the

desired position with the

functions Up and Down.

Up means the first

components

Change the load order

sequence:

Change the load quantity by

adjusting the total quantity of the

ration in kg of fresh matter to the

desired quantity. The load quantity is

corrected up or down via the arrow

keys. By Accepting you are

confirming this action.

Change the load amount

to kg of fresh matter

You can also change the

total quantity of rations

via the number of cows.

All components are now

adjusted to the altered

number of cows.

All the data changed on the PDA have only been changed once for this feeding process.

Long-term changes have to be made in the PC (master-slave principle).

These one-off changes can be tracked later on your PDA. Immediately after you call up this

ration next time, a message will appear informing you of what quantities were open before.

Once you have completed these changes or preparation, select Load to start with the feeding.

Change the dry mass of the individual

components by selecting a component. You

can then correct the content of dry substance

via the arrow buttons. By Accepting you are

confirming this action.

Change the dry matter of the

components from the ration

4.1. Load

Using the Load function you get to the loading process for this ration.

Now select the ration that

you would like to feed.

Now you will reach your

ration. Select Load to start

the loading process with

the first component (hay

here) or Back to return to

the ration selection menu.

Test

Now load the components

as they appear in the

system. The components to

be loaded will be shown as

minus values.

The filling sequence can

still be changed during the

loading process via the

fields Reset components

and Put the components

into the last position.

If the target value has been

reached, you automatically

reach the next components

or you can confirm

manually with Next to

jump to the next

component.

Message

If a message is in the TMR pilot for the selected ration, then this will appear first before the first

component to be fed appears. You can leave a message with a ration in the TMR pilot.

The feeding is started in accordance with ration information in the TMR pilot (web-based feed

software). Now you can fill one feed component after another into the feed mixer wagon. You can

either get to the next feed component by pressing Next or automatically by time (depending on

the setting in the TMR pilot). You can find out more about this in the operating instructions of the

TMR pilot.

A message can be left for every recipe in the TMR pilot. If a

recipe is called up, then a message appears that is read

and then confirmed by pressing OK.

In this way we can guarantee that instructions are read

before the feeding process. These instructions can then be

confirmed with OK.

11

Pre-setting (change to the next components)

You either get to the next feed component automatically after a certain time or by confirming

manually. The following conditions have to be achieved to get to the next component. These are

pre-set from the factory.

Automatically:

Stable time (time without weight change): 5 seconds

Tolerance (deviation from the target weight): +-5%

i.e.: x* seconds after reaching these conditions the system changes to the next component (*you

determine the time x for every feed component in the TMR pilot under feed components/load

delay in seconds)

(i.e.: If the target weight of +-5% has been achieved and if this weight remains stable for five

seconds, there is an automatic jump to the next component after x seconds.)

Manual:

Stable time (time without weight change): 5 seconds

Tolerance (deviation from the target weight): +-5%

(i.e.: If the target weight of +-5% has been achieved and if this weight remains stable for five

seconds, then you can jump manually to the next component after x seconds.)

Pause:

During the loading process, you can press Pause to freeze the weight (e.g. if the feeder wagon has

to be moved and the weight must not change due to the distances travelled). This pause function

can also be used automatically after every component. This makes sense if the mixer wagon/self-

propelled feeder will travel after every component.

Using the key Resume you end the pause function.

12

4.2. Administer/Collect refusals

If instead you want to

administer and record

remaining food quantities,

then select Collect

refusals.

Record the remaining food

quantities and put them

into the food mixer wagon.

You confirm the quantity

recorded with Done.

Now allocate the remaining

food quantities to the

respective groups and

confirm the selection with

OK. Here you can also add

or change groups (pen).

13

5. Unloading the ration

Now all feed data are saved on the Internet in the TMR pilot.

Once the loading process

has ended, the unloading

process can begin. To do

this press Start unloading

to unload the ration.

The removal process can be

completed using the

Complete button.

Frequently Asked Questions

‘I don’t have a Bluetooth connection to my transceiver box. What can I do?’

Ensure that the Bluetooth connection is active. This can be checked in the start screen. Select

Bluetooth to turn it on.

Then turn the transceiver box off and back on.

‘I have no further connection to my data. How can I proceed here?’

Possible cause: If the PDA no longer gets enough electricity (battery too weak), it could turn off the

telephone connection automatically. In such a case the data connection will no longer work.

Ensure that the telephone is set to On. If not, go to the start screen and select the symbol Wireless

manager.

15

‘The PDA constantly tries to reconnect without establishing a connection with the feed mixer

wagon.’

Ensure that the weighing equipment and the Dairy Feeder transceiver box (LED displays have to

light up) are switched on. Green LED: Power supply active; blue LED Bluetooth unit active; red LED:

Error

If the error still occurs, check whether the same COM port has been selected in the Windows

settings and in the Dairy Feeder.

‘I cannot go to another feed component if I have not completely achieved the target weight

but am within the tolerance range.’

The system has been set so that if the target weight has been exceeded, you can get to the next

components. If you also want to change to the next feed component when below the target weight

and within the tolerance range, then you can deactivate this function.

‘If I move the feeder mixer wagon/self-propelled feeder, weight deviation occurs due to the

route travelled. This affects the recording of the weight in the system. How can I change

this?’

After filling one component and before moving, you can push PAUSE. Before loading the next

components, it is deactivated again by pressing RESET. If moving the mixer wagon from

component to component is a daily task, then we recommend that the system goes into AUTO

PAUSE after every component loaded.

16

‘Theoretically I can fill more feed into the mixer wagon than its capacity.’

To tell the system the maximum weight, enter this value in Settings.

‘The system does not jump to the next feed component even though the target weight

tolerance range has been achieved.’

Change the tolerance setting from 100 kg/sec to e.g. 110 kg/sec.
