    Before you clean1.Move furniture to another area if cleaning theentire room (optional).

    2.Vacuum area with a dry vacuum cleanerthoroughly before deep cleaning.

    3.Plan your cleaning route to leave an exitpath. It is best to begin cleaning in the cornerfarthest from your exit.

    4.Pretreating (optional) is recommended toimprove cleaning effectiveness for heavily soiledcarpet in high traffic areas such as entrywaysand hallways.

    a.Spray the BISSELL Tough StainPre-Cleaner formula onto high traffic areas,soiled areas or stains.

    b.Allow to penetrate for at least threeminutes.

    c.Clean as normal using your BISSELL deepcleaning machine, following the instructionson page 6.

    ATTENTIONSome Berber carpets have a tendency to fuzz

    with wear. Repeated strokes in the same areawith an ordinary vacuum or deep cleanermay aggravate this condition. Please see StainRemoval instructions on page 11.

    Carpet cleaning1. Remove dirty water tank by pulling dirtywater tank handle to upright position and lift upto remove dirty water tank.

    2. Lift clean water tank from the base of machine.

    a. Unscrew cap on top of the clean water tank.Fill tank to FILLline with clean, hot tap water.Do not boil or microwave water.

    b. Measure BISSELL formula using capon tank. Fill cap to line twice for each fulltank of water. Always use genuine BISSELLformulas to maximize cleaning and for thesafety of your machine.

    c.Screw cap back onto clean water tank andplace tank onto base of the machine.

    3. Replace dirty water tank securely on top ofthe clean water tank and push handle back tolock into place.

    4. Plug into a proper outlet and turn the powerswitch to the ON (I) position.

    5. Recline handle by pushing down on thegreen lever on the back of the machine whilepulling back on handle.

    6. Cleaning strokes. While pressing the trigger,make one slow forward wet pass and another

    back. Let the formula and DirtLifter PowerBrushdo the work for you.

    NOTE: Your machine is equipped with a circuitbreaker that will automatically shut off the brushif a large or loose object is caught in the brushroll. If that happens, be sure to unplug yourmachine, remove the foreign object and thenplug machine in to reset the circuit breaker.

    7. Cleaning strokes. Release the trigger andmake one slow forward and backward pass overthe same area to remove any residual dirty water

    and aid in drying. Repeat cleaning passes untilsolution being pulled up appears clean. Continuepasses without pressing the trigger until youcant see any more water being pulled up.

    8. Remove the dirty water tank by pulling thehandle to the upright position and lift up. Carrythe tank like a bucket to a utility sink or outsidewhere you will dispose of the dirty water.

    9. Unlatch the top of the tank from the bottomby pushing the handle all the way forward andlifting the top off. Pour dirty water into the sink.

    NOTE: You may notice hair and debris depositson the carpet or in the tank that were loosenedby the cleaning action (especially with newercarpets that have never been deep cleanedbefore). This debris should be picked up andthrown away.

    10. Fill the clean water tank with clean hot tapwater and follow instructions 2 - 9 tocontinue cleaning.

    CAUTIONDo not overwet. Take care not to run overloose objects or edges of area rugs. Stallingbrush may result in premature belt failure.

    OprCleaning with attachmentsYour deep cleaning machine may have comewith a hose and at least one attachment forcleaning stairs, upholstery and more.

    1. Important!If using to clean upholstery, checkupholstery tags.

    a. Check manufacturers tag before cleaning.W or WS on the tag means you can useyour deep cleaning machine. If the tag iscoded with an X or an S (with a diago-nal stripe through it) or says Dry CleanOnly, do not proceed with any deep clean-ing machine. Do not use on velvet or silk. Ifmanufacturers tag is missing or not coded,check with your furniture dealer.

    b. Check for colorfastness in aninconspicuous place.

    c. If possible, check upholstery stuffing.Colored stuffing may bleed through fabricwhen wet.

    d. Plan activities to allow upholstery timeto dry.

    e. Vacuum thoroughly to pick up loosedebris and pet hair. Use a vacuum with abrush attachment and a crevice tool to clean

    in fabric folds.

    2. Fill the clean water tank. Lift clean water tankfrom the base of machine.

    a. Unscrew cap on top of the clean watertank. Fill tank to FILLline with clean, hottap water. Do not boil or microwave water.

    b. Measure BISSELL formula using cap ontank. Fill cap to line twice for each full tankof water. Always use genuine BISSELLformulas to maximize cleaning and for the

    safety of your machine. c.Screw cap back onto clean water tank and

    place tank onto base of the machine.

    3. Attach Hose

    a. Connect solution hose to the hoseconnection point on unit, next to flowindicator. Insert hose and turn clockwiseuntil locked into place.

    b. Open hose latch on the front of the unitand insert hose into place. Turn clockwise

    until locked into place.4. Attach the cleaning tool to the end of thehose.

    5. Clean by pressing the red trigger to spraysolution onto the area to be cleaned. Slowlymove the tool back and forth over the soiledsurface. Release the trigger to suction soiledwater. Continue to clean in the area, work-ing in small sections, until no more dirt can beremoved. Caution: Do Not Overwet

    6. Remove and rinse tool in clean running water.Let dry completely.

    7. Empty dirty and clean water tanks and rinsefollowing instructions on page 9 Machine care

    instructions 1 - 4.

    Stain RemovalDo Not Delay!Attending to an accident soonafter it occurs ensures the most optimal clean.Leaving it for an extended period of time maycause it to set and become permanent

    1. Blot up liquids with an absorbent cloth orpaper towels. White materials are recommended

    because certain dyes may bleed and make thestain worse.

    2. Gently scrape up any semi-solids with aspoon or spatula. Do not use a knife or otherutensil with sharp edges because it coulddamage the carpet or upholstery.

    3. If the area has dried, remove theremaining semi-solids and residue witha sweeper or vacuum.

    4. Be sure to test any spot removal formulas inan inconspicuous area first. This is important

    as some dyes and materials could be damagedor discolored by cleaning solvents. If such achange should occur, try a different solution orcall a professional.

    5. If cleaning on Berber carpeting, gently runyour machine over a hidden area. If no fuzzingoccurs, continue cleaning in soiled area.

    6. Using the BISSELL Tough Stain PreCleaner,spray evenly over soiled area. DO NOTOVERWET.Wait 3-5 minutes. Gently workthe solution by blotting area with a clean,damp, color safe cloth.

    7. Clean using the unit or the hose withattachment.

    OprMachine storageOnce your cleaning is complete, make sure boththe dirty and clean water tanks are emptied,rinsed out and dried before the next use.

    NOTE: Store cleaner in a protected, dry area.Since this product uses water, it must not bestored where there is a danger of freezing.Freezing will damage internal components andvoid the warranty.

    Machine careFor best results, a few simple steps can assureyour machine is well maintained after yourcleaning is complete

    1. Turn power OFF (0). Unplug the machine andwrap the power cord.

    2. After emptying the clean and dirty watertanks, rinse them out with running hot tap water.

    3. The top half of the dirty water tank can also berinsed clean through the nozzle area.

    4. To clean attachments, remove from hose andrinse in clean, running water and let dry. Cleanthe hose by removing it from the machine andlet running tap water run through both ends.

    5. After carpet is dry, vacuum again to removehair and fuzz.

    Belt removal and replacement1. Turn off the machine and unplug it from theoutlet.

    2. Remove the dirty and clean water tanks fromthe base of the machine.

    3. While standing behind the unit, lay the uniton its side (cord side up)

    4. Looking at the bottom of unit, find the backcenter of the brush carriage where the carriagelatch is located. It is between the brush assem-bly and the front wheels.

    5. Pull brush carriage towards you withone hand until it stops, then pinch the carriagelatch with other hand while pulling the carriage

    towards you. The carriage should swing out toaccess belt cover.

    6. Remove three screws from cover. Lift andremove to access brush carriage.

    7. Turn the belt inward towards the large pulleywhile lifting out.

    8. Place new belt over small pulley first andthen slip the belt over the large pulley.

    NOTE: Test the brush roll to make sure it spinsfreely before moving to the next step.

    9. Replace the brush carriage and screws.

    10. Push brush carriage back into placemaking sure the carriage latch locks back intoplace.

    Mntnc & CrBrush removal and replacement1. Turn OFF (0) the machine and unplug fromthe outlet.

    2. Remove the dirty and clean water tanks fromthe base of the machine.

    3. While standing behind the unit, lay the uniton its side (cord side down).

    4. Looking at the bottom of the unit, find thecenter of the brush carriage where the carriagelatch is located. It is between the brushassembly and wheels.

    5. Pull the brush carriage towards you withone hand until it stops. Pinch the carriage latchwith the other hand while pulling the carriage

    towards you. The carriage should swing out toaccess brush end cover.

    6. Remove three screws from endcap. Pullendcap off to release brush roll.

    7. With cover removed, the brush comesout easily by tilting the loose end out of thecarriage.

    8. To replace the brush roll back into the unit,place the large open end of the brush onto thecarriage and tilt opposite end back into place.

    9. With the brush sitting relatively straight upand down by itself, place endcap back on topand replace three screws. The brush will needto be held and centered to the cover whileplacing it back on.

    10. Spin the brush by hand to make sure itturns freely with some minor resistance fromthe motor. Push brush carriage back into placewith a light pull against the lock.
