PRINCIPAL’S NEWS Happy Holidays We’ve come to the end of another busy term. Some families will be leaving us so we wish them well and others will be joining us next term and we welcome them. Next term will be busy with some major events happening like the district athletics sports, year 5/6 camp, the Wyndham Spelling Bee and the choir performing in Geelong. From July 22 until August 30 I will be on leave and Ms Ibrahim will be the acting Principal. Have a safe and happy term break. End of Term Second term finishes on Friday 28 th June. Weather permitting a short assembly will be held, and the students will be dismissed at 2.30 pm. The After School Care program will commence after assembly. Parents’ Club will be holding a Hot Dog Day. The Canteen will not be open for lunches on Friday. School re commences on Monday 15th July for all students. NAIDOC Week National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee Week starts on Sunday 7 July and finishes on Sunday 14 July. The theme for 2019 is Voice. Treaty. Truth. Locally the annual NAIDOC Children’s Day event which will be held at Werribee Secondary College on 3 July 2019 from 11am to 3 pm. Information is attached. Middle Years Survey Wyndham City - Middles Years Working Group, invites children 8-12 years old to participate in a creative Middle Years consultation workshop to hear their voice and for the council to understand how they connect in our community and what are their needs. These concepts will be explored through a creative process of critical thinking, written text and digital format: Life in Wyndham What is your favourite thing to do after school? PRINCIPAL’S NEWS Happy Holidays

We’ve come to the end of another busy term. Some families will be leaving us so we

wish them well and others will be joining us next term and we welcome them. Next

term will be busy with some major events happening like the district athletics sports,

year 5/6 camp, the Wyndham Spelling Bee and the choir performing in Geelong.

From July 22 until August 30 I will be on leave and Ms Ibrahim will be the

Secondary College on 3 July 2019 from 11am to 3 pm. Information is attached.

As the weather is starting to become very cold students should be wearing their win-

ter uniform. Uniform items can be purchased from Rushford’s in Watton Street.

Some second hand uniform can be purchased at school at the uniform shop which is

open Wednesday 2:45pm - 3:15pm and Friday 8:45am - 9:15am. Please note that

black leggings and coloured shirts worn under tee shirts are not part of our uniform.

Jackets and hats should not be worn inside.

MANORVALE SPELLING BEE

It’s the time of year for the grades 3 to 6 Manorvale Spelling Bee.

Class Spelling Bees will take place between Monday, 29th July and Tuesday, 6th August, with

the Manorvale 3/4 and 5/6 championships taking place on 12th and 13th August (please note

change of dates).

Our school champions can then go on to represent Manorvale at the Wyndham Spelling

Bee on Thursday August 29th.

Students have been asked to express interest in taking part in the class spelling bee and

the spelling lists will be distributed to those students before the school holidays. If your

child is interested in taking part and does not have a list by Thursday, please ask them to

see Ms Rieksts or Mrs Forrester.

Spare Change of Clothes Please make sure students have a change of clothes in their school bags.

Sickbay has limited sizes for any students needing a change of clothes.

Parents will be called to bring a change of clothes if required.

5/6 Camp - Lady Northcote Recreation Camp

Reminder : Camp deposits are due this Wednesday, 26th June 2019. This will secure your child’s camp placement.

Payment Details The cost of the camp is $320. This covers the cost of accommodation, meals and camp activities. Payments can be made in full by Wednesday, 26th June 2019 or a deposit amount of $160 along with your completed consent form, will secure your child ’s camp placement. Final payment of $160 is due no later than Monday, 22nd July 2019.

Eligible families can use their CSEF to contribute towards the cost of the camp. Please write the CSEF portion on your payment envelope and enclose the remainder of the deposit payment.

Medical form are to be completed and returned to school on the day of camp for students who require any medication whilst on camp.

Hot Dog Day

Parents’ Club will be holding their end of term Hot Dog Day on Friday, 28th June 2019. The Canteen will be open at snack time only.

CSEF Reminder:

The CSEF program for 2019 closes on 28th June 2019. Please make sure you provide you signed

CSEF application with Health Care Card to the office to be processed. An application for is attached to

this newsletter.

Woolworths Earn and Learn Stickers Thank you to everyone who have been busy collecting the Woolworths Earn and Learn Stickers. This promotion finishes today, Tuesday 25th June. If you still have stickers at home, please hand them into your classroom teacher tomorrow.

3/4 Camp 2019

Cave Hill Creek

On Monday 17th June the 3/4 students travelled to Cave Hill Creek, where for 3 days. They partici-pated in a range of activities such as photo trail, map reading, archery, bouldering wall, bush cooking, hut building and low ropes and initiatives. Both the students and the teachers had a great time de-spite the cold weather! “Archery was my favourite because of how I worked out which way to aim to get a bullseye. I also liked bush cooking because I learnt how to cook something new.” - Xander, 3/4 JC.

“I liked the bouldering wall because it was challenging.” - Payten, 3/4 JC. “Bush cooking was my fa-vourite because we got to cook it ourselves.” - Mylie, 3/4 WD. “I enjoyed map reading because it was challenging and we all had to work together as a team. “- Elly, 3/4 WD. “I liked bush cooking because we got to eat food and I thought it was funny that Stephany gave some of hers to Ms. Watson.” - Caleb, 3/4 LA. “My favourite part was the hut building because everyone worked together as a team.” - Logan, 3/4 LA. “I really liked bush cooking because I’ve never cooked on the fire before and I burnt the end of my damper but it tasted delicious with the strawberry jam on it.” - Leon, 3/4 RK. “I liked ar-chery because it was challenging to hit the board.” - Connor, 3/4 RK.

Parents’ Club News

Hot Dog Day - Friday, 28th June 2019 Orders closed last Wednesday, and have been processed. Thank you to everyone

who has supported us and submitted an order.

Second Hand Uniform Shop

Many people have been making use of the uniform shop. As a result we are running very low on clothing

items in sizes 8, 10 and 12 (particularly jumpers). If you are having a cupboard clean out over the school

holidays please send any unwanted uniform items to the Second Hand Uniform Shop. It is located

opposite the staffroom and our volunteers run the shop Wednesday 2:45pm to 3:15pm and Friday

8:45am to 9:15am. All items are very reasonably priced.

Belated Thank You

Thank you to Australian Laser and Skin Clinic, 7 Wedge Street Werribee. They supplied out first prize in

the Mother’s Day Raffle, and their generosity is greatly appreciated.

The next Parents’ Club meeting will be held in the staffroom next term from 9:00am Friday, 9th August

2019. All welcome.
