Mankind is marching towards human immortality. This is neither prophecynor astrological prediction. It is the aim of science to attain the goal of

immortality. How this goal could be achieved? You must know that in spite ofmuch talk about our era of information technology, in fact we have crossedthat era. Already we are in nano-technology era. Nano-technology era haddawned. In another 30 years of research we can be near to inserting tinymachines called intelligent nanobots into our bodies which will eradicateravages of illness and age and help us live indefinitely.

Where humanity is heading for?

Towards Immortality: Nanobots

Ray Kurzwell wrote a book Fantastic Voyage: Live long enough to liveForever. In that book he wrote, Millions of blood cell sized robots which hecalled nanobots will be swarming through our body repairing bones,muscles, arteries and brain cells. Yes like the anti virus programmes in ourcomputers we will be having nanobots, as tiny as one out of 1000 th size ofour hair which will eradicate disease at the time of the start itself.

Ray Kurzwell foresees humanintelligence not only conqueringits biological limits includingdeath but completely mastering

the natural world. He is arecipient of $500000Lemelson_MIT prize from thatAcademy Award for Inventors. InUSA he had won 1999 NationalMedal for Technology Award.His publications had appearedin Wired to Time magazines.Christian Science Monitor hadcalled him Modern Edison. The Observer newspaper from London on May 22-2005 said Death couldbecome a thing of the past by middle of 21 st century as computertechnology becomes sophisticated enough for contents of the brain to bedownloaded onto a supercomputer according to Ian Pearson Head of theFuturology unit at British telecommunications giant BT.

Making Life longer

Scottish Daily Scotsman in March 28-2005 says that a pill had been inventedby Aberdeen University Professor John Speakman if taken once a day willkeep a person healthier and able to work longer and would extend his

lifespan by 30 years.

Injecting life into nerve cells

The team at Bostons Children hospital and Harvard University had identifieda molecule that is helping injured nerve cells regenerate and it might be usedto develop new treatments for spinal chord injuries, brain diseases andstroke damage. The molecule called inosine acts as a master switch to turnon a number of genes involved in the growth of nerve cells.

Designer gene Cure

The journal of American Heart association Circulation in a study states Itmight be possible to design and construct genetically engineered designergene therapy for selectively delivering genes to any part of the body. Wecant do it now because much of what is injected would be sequestered byliver said AndrewH.Baker, Reader in Molecular Medicine at University ofGlasgow in Scotland.

New form of Matter

Deborah Jin a physicist at the National Institute of Standards andTechnologys joint lab with the University of Colorado had announced thatthey have found new form of matter called fermionic condensate and it issixth known form of matter after gases, solids, liquids, plasma and a Bio-Einstein condensate created only in 1995. It is not a superconductor but it isreally something in between these two that may help us in science to linkthese two interesting behaviors. Her teams new form of matter usesfermions the building blocks of matter that include protons, electrons andneutrons. Fermions are your independent thinkers; they dont copy yourneighbors.

Smart drugs that can travel through your body, diagnose the problem and

deliver nano-doses straight to the diseased cells is possible within 5 years inIndia, if Governments act fast in helping research. Dr.B.M.Choudry DeputyDirector of the Inorganic and Physical Chemistry division of Indian Institute ofTechnology Hyderabad on July 24-2004 had told that targeted drug deliverywould be more efficient in fighting diseases with fewer side effects. A patientsuffering from throat cancer could be given a nano drug that can kill cancercells. A single nano capsule injected into the subcutaneous tissue lungs orstomach is enough to cure some of the ailments, which might normally takedozens of pills in conventional treatment.

Pulsating Pants to Pump blood to Heart:

If you have heart problem go to the ready-made shop and buy a pulsatingpant. These vibrating trousers work like a pump to increase blood flow to theheart. Panspermia: Seeds Everywhere

Nasa and European and Italian Space Agency spacecraft Cassini isbeaming telemetry and images back from Titan the massive planet sizedmoon of Saturn. The conditions in Titan resemble our earth millions of yearsbefore life ultimately evolved. It has an environment rich in carbon basedmolecules that are capable of spawning self replicating DNA.

Panspermia literally means seeds everywhere. It is a theory, whichmaintains that life bearing proto spores, is prevalent throughout theUniverse. Life on Earth originated when some of them landed on its surfaceand propagated. It also suggests that life could have existed in anotherplanet and moved to Earth.

Ultimate Universal Theories

Times of India in its editorial on 12 th October 2004 titled Ends and Meansexplains how Universal theories are coming to the fore in the followingwords. Quote: Einstein wanted to end it all, scientifically speaking. After hisspecial and general theories of relativity earlier in the last century hadrevolutionized physics, he spent his last 30 years of life till his death in 1955trying to find an even more generalized concept that would unite all theforces of Nature. Called the unified theory it was an attempt to understandevery physical interaction and present it in as simple a form as e= mc2. Hewas only partially successful. Since then, though researchers around theworld have striven hard in their efforts to lay their hands on what has come

to be known as theory of everything-something that would comprehensivelyexplain the entire universe from the smallest subatomic particles to the mostmassive galactic structures.

Discovery of New Species

Nature had been working overtime to create us humans in a variety ofspecies spanning millions of years. This process had not reached perfectionin homosapiens. A recent discovery unveils of a completely new species ofhumans who lived from 90000 years ago as late as 12000 BC beforeapparently becoming non-extinct. Identified by Australian and Indonesianscientists from a cache of fragmented bones buried in the sediments of alimestone cave on the remote Indonesian island of Flores, it has beenofficially named homo-floresiensis. They were not taller than a meter withbrain size of a grape fruit.

Now we should also know what is in store in Nature and wherefrom dangerscome to our earthly existence.What is happening in Nature?

Black Hole and Bleak Future

United States NationalScience Foundation withthe help of CosmologyBolomeer Array Receiver(Acbar) from the USAmundsen-Scott SouthPole station found that Universe is acceleratingoutwards and isdominated by strangeform of matter nobodyknows anything about. 30percent of all energy isstrange form of darkmatter that does not

interact with light and 65percent is even a strangerform of dark energy that appears to be causing the expansion of theUniverse to accelerate The principal investigator William Holzapfel of theUniversity of California had said It is amazing how preciously our theoriescan explain the behavior of the Universe when we know so little about darkmatter and dark energy that comprise 95 percent of it.

In this context in my blog on the eve of Diwali I wrote Understand Darknessbefore celebrating Light. Black holes will lead us to a bleak future. Twosuper massive black holes each with the mass of at least a million suns have

been encircling each other in a butter fly shaped galaxy. These two giantblack holes found by Chandra X-Ray Observatory are at the center of agalaxy born from joining of two smaller galaxies and are drifting towards acataclysmic collision that will send ripples throughout the universe many

million years from now.

The observations showed that the big black holes were each about the sizeof the inner solar system that includes Earth, in a distance stretching fromthe Sun to Mars and were circling each other at a distance of 3000 lightyears. The merging of two smaller size galaxies into NGC 6240 is also aprelude to the future of the Earths galaxy, the Milky Way composed ofhundreds of millions of stars including Sun. In about 4 billion years,astronomers believe the Milky Way and the nearby Andromeda galaxy willcollide and merge fusing their black holes into one says Dr.SteinnSigurdsson of Pennsylvania University.

Well in this speech I am only drawing your attention to enlighten massesabout dark energy and black holes. The effects that these black holesincluding the recent one found that will unsettle our Earth is matter ofconcern and deep study.

In an article on Secrets of Universe Priyamvada Natarajan, a Tamil Scientistsays Current observations of distant Supernovae suggests that theuniverse is undergoing an accelerating phase having switched from a de-accelerating phase about 5 million years ago. This is believed to have beencaused by dark energy. During the late 1990 observations by twoindependent research teams of these type la supernovae suggested that theexpansion of the Universe is accelerating and it began doing so 5 billionyears ago.

Tenth planet found

While we in our temples are coming around navagrahas, 10 th planet hadbeen found. This new planet, yet to be named but currently known as 2003UB313 is now 9 billion miles away from the Sun or 97 times far away asEarth and about 3 times Plutos current distance from the Sun. Its 560-year

elliptical orbit brings it as close as 3.3 billion miles. This discovery was madein January 8 th at Palomar Observatory at California.

Our Earth and Future Earth

Continental Drift

At the same time we must know that our planet Earth was once onecontinent called Pangaea, which drifted into and settled currently over 12plates. Now the Indo Australian plate is breaking into two thereby creatingthe 13 th plate. Throughout history scientists believe that continents are

drifting, moving closer or breaking one another. The super continentPangaea broke 160 million years ago. Paul Hoffman Professor of Geology atHarvard University states that while Pangaea broke up the Atlantic Oceanopened splitting North America from Eurasia.

Then North America partedfrom Eurasia, subsequentlySouth America from AfricaAustralia Antarctica and Indiaseparated from Africa creatingthe Indian Ocean. Atlantic andIndian Oceans continue to widenwhile Pacific gets smaller. It willbecome evident that the ring offire, which means volcanic

activity beneath ocean floor, asshown in a picture becomes theextreme vulnerable zone for

earthquakes, volcanoes and tsunamis.

Ring of Fire that causes grave problems for Pacific plate

The ring of fire triggers these and is going to make Pacific Ocean smaller. In100 million years North America and Asia will probably drift into each other,Paul Hoffman says and he had even named it as Amasia.

The picture of Pangaeagiven will reveal how ourcontinents were in oneSuper continent and nowhad drifted into manycontinents. Theboundaries of the platesare also indicative of thechain of events that is

breaking our continents.Scientist has foreseen thechanges and are sayingthat in 100 million yearsago the continents will belike the picture givenseparately.

Pangaea and its break

In another 250 million years almost all continents of the world exceptAustralia and Antarctica will come together. The Bay of Bengal, Arabian Seaand Indian Ocean will become a lake, a bigger lake than our Chilka Lake.Like East Coast Road we can have a circular road that can make us travelaround this Chilka Ocean, we can even name it in advance.

But in immediate future let us have a look at the picture of hotspots of theworld. It becomes clear that our Himalayas and beyond are extremelyvulnerable regions. A day when it becomes sea will not be a dream. It mustbe recalled that Nepalese call Himalayas as sagarmatha, which meansMother of seas. Once it was sea and in future it will be sea again. May bemillions of years away, but it is bound to happen. India will be again Island

nation. Once it remained so hence in Tamil it was called Navalantheevu inPingala Nigandu, the Tamil thesaurus written hundreds of years ago.

Not all plate movements lead to collision. Three types of movement arerecognized at the boundaries between plates namely convergent, divergentand transform. At the divergent boundaries new crust is formed when lavaflows out pushing the plates away from each other. Convergent boundarieson the other hand lead to plate destruction as one plates sub ducts underanother. The typical convergent plate boundary is between Indo-Burmaplates where Indian plate moving at a rate of 5cm a year relative to theBurma plate came together collided and Indian plate sub ducted under the

Burma plate. As a result you will see Bay of Bengal shrinking now but infuture when whole of Burma becomes sea we will have wider sea.

In addition to the classification based on the nature of plate interaction at

the boundaries, plate tectonics is also built on the premise that there are twotypes continental and oceanic plates.

And the plate interaction could thus be continental-continental convergence,oceanic-continental convergence, and finally oceanic-oceanic convergence.

The subject is an ocean but here we have known few drops.

Well understanding our Earth and its inherent dangers too is need ofthe hour while we march towards conquering Nature.

ConclusionNowadays we have science reaching all homes by television channels.Years before weather forecasts by All India Radio stations would be mockedat. But the visuals now presented in television screens reaches every mind

and now every one is alert to weather forecasts. Earthquakes some think arenot a regular phenomenon and they did not bother about it. It is not so. Insome part of our Earth quakes are occurring everyday but since they are inlesser Richter scale it does not cause alarm. We must know that quakesoccur in the plate boundaries and it travels along geo-fracture or fault zones.United States Geological Survey has a mailing facility. If you enroll youremail within seconds of earthquakes happening anywhere in the world youget an alert. I would urge students, housewives and elders to bid adieu totele-serials and to spare time to watch National Geographic Channel,Discovery Channel and History Channels. While science reaches our homeswe are not availing knowledge at our doorstep. It is high time in national

languages these channels are dubbed and knowledge is taken to the

common man. Instead of using computer and Internet for satiating sex urgeslet our youth use it to empower them with knowledge. A day is not far offwhen the poorest farmer from Kalahandi or a Tribal from Malkangiri or aStudent from Balasore goes before a computer to connect internet to his

brains and download all education he or she needs. Instead of school andcolleges from our Internet cafs even illiterate can become literate. Let usmake our nation the vehicle for the progress of mankind and its knowledgebased society.

lengthens, fear dies, joy deepens, love intensifies and man regains hisdignity, is what Aringnar Anna dreamt of and Annaism stands for says theparty manifesto. Aringnar Anna, the founder of Dravida MunnetraKazhagam, parent party of Dravida Peravai, spoke about the ideals while

delivering the convocation address in Annamalai University. Those wordswere chosen to describe Annaism, as a socialist ideology suitable to Indiansoil.

Objectives of the party

Dravida Peravai is for complete nuclear disarmament and moral re-armament. The party is for duerespect to all regional languages in the territory of its usage. The party is forcorrecting the mis-interpretations that has crept into the concept of social justice propounded by the Dravidian movement, and redeeming theoppressed, depressed, backwards and minorities from the clutches ofdivision and economic backwardness by constitutional means through asilent revolution. The party is for creation of National EnvironmentCommission as an autonomous body sanctioned by Constitution of India, to

check the growth of pollution in all states of India. The party is for revampingthe public sector undertakings ensuring workers participation inmanagement, and the shares of such public sector undertakings should beallocated to workers of such undertakings and to the people whose land islost because of such projects coming up in their soil, and to all displacedpersons in general. source of inspiration to Dravida Peravai. Hence the motto: Equality, Liberty,Fraternity, Duty, Discipline, Decorum, Educate, Unify, Struggle and thedoctrine to each according to his need from each according to his/her abilitystands as guiding principles for the party. Dravida Peravai strives to

establish casteless, creedless and party-less democracy pursuing the pathof non-violence, upholding socialism, secularism and liberal democracy.

Dravida Peravai shall bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution ofIndia as by law established and to the principles of socialism, secularism anddemocracy, to uphold the sovereignty, unity and integrity of India.

Dravida Peravai is for ensuring gender justice equal-representation forwomen in all electoral avenues. The party is for enforcing total prohibition inthe country. The party strives to end all kinds of gambling, flesh trade,abuses of children and women, bonded labor practices, dowry system,

superstition, corruption and criminalization.

In short, Dravida Peravai is for creating a congenial climate for healthydemocracy to flourish within the parameters of Constitution of India andinculcating a new political culture that fosters simple living and global visionto be in harmony with Nature and unearthing new dimensions of higherconsciousness.

Code of conduct

The rules and regulations of Dravida Peravai registered with ElectionCommission of India contains a code of conduct for party functionaries. a] Aparty functionary must be proficient in Thirukural and must be secular inoutlook. b] A party functionary must consider " Every country is my country,Everyone is my kinsmen" as Poet Kaniyan Poongundranaar says. In shortgalaxial thinking pushing the borders of human consciousness is the singlemost important duty of the party functionary. c] A party functionary must notfall at the feet of the leaders, must not indulge in flattery, must not addsuffixes or prefixes to original names. d] A party functionary must identify himwith the common man and hence adopt simple living and should not evenpublicize educational qualifications, honorary doctorates, or titles before or

after the name, as such high sounding titles degrees and suffixes distancesthe common man for whose sake party is founded e] A party functionarymust disclose his assets and liabilities before public and take an oath thatany property in excess of the declared assets is established to be in hispossession after his term in the various forums of democracy expires suchassets will be transferred to the party trust, which will be floatedsimultaneously on floating of this party. Such Trust known as Annaist Trustwill work for unifying Tamil brethren and educate rationalism and proletarianinternationalism to the common man. f] Anyone who is an eve-teaser,womanizer or has more than one wife or anyone connected with the crimeagainst woman shall not be admitted into the party. If anyone after becoming

a member raises enough suspicion in the minds of the governing committeeshall be dismissed from the party immediately. g] Anyone connected withCofeposa, Fera etc or has criminal records or is known to be a goonda androwdy in the locality he lives, will not be admitted into the party. Any party

functionary availing the services of anti-social elements during publicagitations or elections shall be suspended by the General Secretary pendingan inquiry by a committee constituted by the governing body. Once thatcommittee confirms the allegation, the suspension will automatically becomedismissal. h] To enforce strict adherence to moral, ethical and rationalstandards a National Disciplinary Committee will be chosen by the GeneralCouncil. Such a committee of three will decide on all matters of inner partydiscipline and external social behaviour of a party functionary. i] Anyfunctionary who tries to dilute the rational and scientific temper built by theDravidian Movement and its leaders like Periyar E.V.R, Aringnar Anna andanyone who espouses religious fundamentalism or embraces castiest outfits

or platforms will not be eligible to get party tickets for any elections be it forparty posts or for Parliamentary/assembly/Municipalty/ Panchayats orwhatever posts party has to make a choice.

The Party has a website describing the former Minister of Defence GeorgeFernandes as the "International Torch-bearer of Socialism" in view of hislongstanding association with socialist movement.

Party also spearheads a movement for separate Union Territory for Karaikalwithin Indian Union.
