Just think about that for a minute, 21 years of hundreds of volunteers and committee members producing this incredibly inspiring event, raising several thousands of dollars year after year. And these volunteers don’t just show up, they work very hard to have this event thrive and exceed fundraising dollars from that of the previous year. And the proof, $1.1 million has been raised for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin; “BRAVO” to all those who make it possible and a priority the fi rst weekend in August every year!

With that, Shipbuilders Credit Union is extremely proud to do our part again in making this 22nd year a success. Our team of volunteers is rejuvenated and ready to go! Now all we need is your support, and we know we can count on it! Welcome to the 22nd Shipbuilders Credit Union Presents Lakeshore Weekend. We have had a fantastic 21-year run raising $1.1 million for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. The need continues to be as strong as ever with more than 2,500 visits made to Children’s Hospital in 2011 from Manitowoc County residents.

We continue to strive to make this one of the major summer attractions in the Lakeshore area. There is a wide variety of things for the entire family to do with top-notch entertainment, a kids game tent, Polka/pancake breakfast, Dragon Boat races, dunk tank with local celebrities, raffl e and a silent auction tent with a wide variety of items including one-of-a-kind sports memorabilia.

New this year is a 9-hole mini golf course that should provide fun for people of all ages.

With a fun-fi lled, three day festival, Sunday at 12:30 p.m. is the part of the weekend that reminds why we do what we do for Children’s Hospital. It’s our patient family tribute that begins at 12:30. Stop down and help honor these kids that are Children’s Hospital Heroes and hear their stories. If you have been a family helped by Children’s Hospital and want to participate, please call my offi ce at 683-0202.

Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin is one of the nation’s top pediatric facilities. It also is a Level I PediatricTrauma verified by the American College of Surgeons. Founded in 1894, Children’s Hospital serves children with all types of illnesses, injuries, birth defects and other disorders. Care is provided to children from Wisconsin, Michigan, northern Illinois and beyond.

Children’s Hospital is a private, independent, not-for-profit hospital. It is a major teaching affiliate of The Medical College of Wisconsin and is affiliated with more than a dozen schools of nursing. A number of other pediatric education programs also are associated with the hospital.

All proceeds from Lakeshore Weekend benefit Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. Children’s Hospital is one of the nation’s leading regional pediatric medical centers. It is the only hospital in Wisconsin dedicated solely to the care and treatment of children of all ages, from newborns to teenagers. In the past 20 years since Lakeshore Weekend first began, over $1,000,000 has been raised and donated to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. In 2011, Lakeshore Weekend raised a total of $97,690 for the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.

Last year 1,900 visits were made to Children’s Hospital by Manitowoc County families, and more than 4,400 by Sheboygan County families. Children’s Hospital is a pediatric referral center for our local hospitals. Working in partnership with our local health-care facilities and physicians, they

are able to treat injured and ill children — our own friends, relatives, and neighbors.

In 2011, Lakeshore Weekend raised a total of $97,690

for the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
