Pro Tip: While here, you can also “touch up” your appearance. Nothing personal intended and no miracles promised…

Turning off your Notifications While you are on a Zoom call, you want to avoid alert sounds and, if you screen share, you don’t want your text messages, emails, or other notifications to appear for the other person to see. A quick way to do this is to ask Siri to “turn off my notifications” for you. If you prefer the old school approach, click on the three horizontal bars at the far, upper right-hand corner of your Mac and, from the menu that appears, toggle on Do Not Disturb.

To do this on a PC:

! Click on the Notifications icon on the bottom right of the screen next to the date and time ! Click the All Settings icon at the bottom right ! On the main Settings screen, choose System ! In the left sidebar, choose Notifications and Actions ! Slide the Get Notifications From Apps and Other Senders button to the Off position

Using the Waiting Room feature To avoid Zoom Bombing, you may want to control who can enter your meeting. If you set up a Waiting Room, when clients accept your Zoom invitation, they’ll be placed in the waiting room and you will have to Admit them before they can join.

Recording the meeting You may choose to record your meetings to have a record of what transpired, both for you and for your student’s purposes. Here is some language you might include in your contract to give you permission to record: XX Consulting reserves the right to record any or every consulting session between the student and/or the family member(s) and the XX consultant on Zoom in order to provide the highest quality of service and to allow the student and/or the family member(s) the ability to re-watch the recording for better retention of the information covered during the session. And here is information about how to record a Zoom session. Once the session is recorded, you can send the link to the student and/or their parents. Remember, manners of professionalism and etiquette work the same way on Zoom as they do in person. And always have a Plan B for how to meet should the Zoom technology not work. Happy Zooming!
