In 1979 young Donna, Tanya and Rosie graduate from Oxford University -- leaving Donna free to embark on a series of adventures throughout Europe. On her journeys, she makes the acquaintances of Harry, Bill and Sam -- the latter whom she falls in love with, but he's also the man who breaks her heart. In the present day, Donna's pregnant daughter, Sophie, dreams of renovating a taverna while reuniting with her mother's old friends and boyfriends on the Greek island of Kalokairi.

Colour me in!
The Lead Characters Pick a character and follow their character journey (arc) throughout the film.
Sophie Sheridon is the daughter of Donna. Mamma Mia 2 switches between two time frames, the present where Sophie is pregnant and remembering her late mother and the past, where we learn how Donna came to be in Greece after all. Sophie is passionate, sensitive, caring and driven.
Donna Sheridon in Mamma Mia 2 we see Donna played by Lily James (young Donna) and Meryl Streep (Older Donna). Young Donna is adventurous, playful and a free spirit. ACTING THROUGH SONG
Once you know the melody by heart, and the lyrics flow naturally, you can begin to focus on the feelings linked to the song.
Acting through song is very different to being a 'pop star' singing for entertainment. We must tell a story, and communicate this to our audience through our delivery.
Just like preparing for a script, we need to know who our character is, what they are like, what their goals are, and WHY they are singing this song. Have a go a singing along with the film and see if you can connect with the narrative. (Use the lyrics on the next page)
Ask your self these questions:
How do I feel?
Where am I?
Who am I talking to?
What am I trying to say?
Does my emotion change throughout the song?
Have I reached my goal by the end of the song?
Dancing QueenABBA
You can dance, you can jiveHaving the time of your life
Ooh see that girl, watch that sceneDig in the dancing queen
Friday night and the lights are lowLooking out for a place to go
Where they play the right music, getting in the swingYou come in to look for a king
Anybody could be that guyNight is young and the music's high
With a bit of rock music, everything is fineYou're in the mood for a danceAnd when you get the chance
You are the dancing queenYoung and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing queen, feel the beatFrom the tambourine, oh yeahYou can dance, you can jiveHaving the time of your life
Ooh see that girl, watch that sceneDig in the dancing queen
You're a teaser, you turn 'em onLeave 'em burning and then you're goneLooking out for another, anyone will do
You're in the mood for a danceAnd when you get the chance
You are the dancing queenYoung and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing queen, feel the beatFrom the tambourine, oh yeahYou can dance, you can jive
