Becker's Hospital Review recently published the 2014 edition of "100 Great Community Hospitals," a list based on hospitals' accolades, quality of care and services provided to their patient populations. Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center made the list for the secondconsecutive year. The hospitals featured on the list have fewer than 550 beds and minimal teaching programs. Some are suburbanhospitals, but many are located in rural areas and are their communities' sole hospital. All have worked to provide the experience andquality of care their patients expect and deserve. The Becker's Hospital Review editorial team selected hospitals for inclusion based on rankings and awards from iVantage HealthAnalytics, Truven Health Analytics, CareChex and American Hospital Association. iVantage recognitions considered include HealthstrongHospitals, which are organizations in the top tier of iVantage's Hospital Strength Index rankings, and the Top 100 Critical Access

Hospital list, which indicates the critical access hospital performs as well or better at the median overall than all U.S. general acute-carehospitals in clinical and operational performance and nancial outcomes. Inclusion on Truven Health Analytics' 100 Top Hospitals list wasalso factored in the decision.

As HCA employees, it is our top priority to take excellent care of our patients, but to also take care of each other. The HCA HopeFund was established in 2004 as hundreds of our colleagues were affected by the coastal hurricanes. Immediately following the storms,HCA employees throughout the United States wanted to know how they could help. Contributions came in and were disbursed outto HCA families that had been impacted. To these families, the contributions from their fellow employees represented much more than

nancial relief, they represented hope that life might soon return to normal.

Our colleagues are not just co-workers, they are our family and we have always rallied around one another when devastation strikes. Sowhat started as a very informal way to help one another, soon evolved to a formal non-pro t organization, the HCA Hope Fund. Ourfund is supported by employees allowing us to do what we do best, take care of others.
