ROOVENT Dry Ridge System

The ROOVENT Dry Ridge System is an innovative ridging system which incorporates the mandatory continuous 5 mm ventilation at the ridge level required for most modern homes. The system eliminates the need for mortar bedding and is tested to a wind resistance load of 3800 n/m2. Using dry fix accessories enables roofing to be completed in wet weather with no mortar runs or staining. ROOVENT Dry Ridge is available with black or brown joint seals.

ROORIDGE Dry Hip System

The ROORIDGE Dry Hip System has been designed to provide a mortar free solution to fixing hip ridge tiles at the junction of two roof slopes. The system is tested to a wind resistance load of 3800 n/m2. Using dry fix accessories enables roofing to be completed in wet weather with no mortar runs or staining.

Galloway TLE Dry Verge System.

The Galloway TLE Dry Verge System has been specifically designed for the Galloway tile to provide a slim profile pvcu verge detail to eliminate the use of mortar at the verge. The system mechanically fixes the end verge tile improving the wind tolerance of the tiles in this area of a roof.

ROOVERGE Dry Verge System

The ROOVERGE Dry Verge System provides a neat maintenance free verge detail suitable for all Scott standard range of roof tiles. The system mechanically fixes the end verge tile eliminating the need for mortar and improving the wind tolerance of the tiles in this area of a roof. ROOVERGE can be fitted against a bargeboard or directly against the gable wall of a building. The system is available in black or brown.

Capped Verge System

Capped Verge Tiles are designed to form a concrete verge system offering a maintenance free alternative to the traditional verge detailing of mortar bedding. Capped Verge is available in the Derrie MKII and Seville profiles and the colours compliment the roof tile colour ranges.

Manufacturing, Handling and Surface Characteristics.

Northstone (NI) Ltd. manufacture Scott Roof Tiles in accordance with the British & European standard BS EN 490 and operate a quality management system to BS EN ISO 9001.

Whilst every effort is made to produce a consistent product in every aspect we would point out that due to the nature of the product, and as a consequence of the manufacturing & handling processes the following surface characteristics may occur. These are fully recognised both within the trade and by BS EN 490.

It should be especially noted that ornmental ridges should be handled with care.

Scratches & Abrasions: These can be caused by packing, loading, transport and handling on site: These are surface marks only and will disappear with normal weathering conditions.

Efflorescence: This is a naturally occurring phenomenon in concrete products caused by weather conditions penetrating into the pores of the concrete and dissolving lime. The hydrated lime (calcium hydroxide) reacts with carbon dioxide in the atmosphere to produce the insoluble

calcium carbonate, which is deposited as efflorescence.

Fortunately the chemical process of carbonation continues to eventually form the soluble calcium bicarbonate. Under the action of rain the bicarbonate washes away.

The level of lime and weather conditions can vary which can determine the level of efflorescence.

Mosses & Lichens: Mosses and lichen tend to grow on roofs located in the vicinity of trees, or in shady damp conditions. North facing slopes remain damper longer and attract moss and lichen growth more so than roof slopes which dry out quicker. In normal circumstances these growths are not detrimental and do not effect the overall performance of the tile.

Surface Coating: The majority of concrete roof tiles manufactured in the world are surface treated, the major benefit being to protect the tile during the early, critical stages of its lifespan. It is recognised in the roofing industry that the surface coating of a concrete tile is temporary, lasting only for a few years; long enough to give that protection to the early life of the product. The performance of the roof tile is not affected by any of the above conditions and the quality requirements of the tile remain intact.

Fixing NoticeWhere the wind load, calculated in accordance with BS 5534, provides an uplift force which exceeds the dead load of the tile mechanical fixings, in addition to the minimum fixings, will be necessary. Factors which must be considered:

1) Exposure and location of the site

2) Roof Pitch

3) Height of the roof

4) High wind loads experienced by local areas, e.g. Ridges, Eaves and Verges

The Scott digital wind loading fixing specification service is available free on request.
