Portfolios in language education • European Language Portfolio (ELP, 2000)
• Self-assessment Grid, based on Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR, 2001)
Goal: to validate informal learning & personal achievements together with formal grading and qualifications
The ELP to reflect on their learning, level of domain & skills under the guidance of the Language Passport, with questions on every strategy on the Biography, producing a final document for certification, proven upon showing the evidence in the Dossier
Other Portfolios …
Portfolios for languagesLanguage Frameworks:• CEFR (European)• ACTFL (the USA)• CLB (Canada)
Portfolio Components• Europass, Linguistic Biography & Dossier (CEFR)• Global Language Portfolio, Linguafolio (ACTFL)
• Not really working online Dossiers (only samples or PDF documents)They don’t implement eDossier in a structured way
eDossierThe eDossier : a selection of the works to show the language competences and skills achieved:
Certificates, qualifications, acknowledgements, written works and reports, projects, recordings - audio, video, pictures, presentations, travels, stays, etc.
It reports learning achieved (formal & informal learning).
• The ePortfolio to describe past learning achievements, current abilities and future learning plans
• A set of learning tools: Reading & Listening (News, Podcasts,Video Viewing) Writing (AWLA), Integrating Learning (WebQuests)
• Using ICT to design language learning plans and enhance the learning process. Online Learning Environments: AIOLE
• AIOLE: PAMCEL applies CEFR framework references and focusses on ePortfolio edition.
Learning enhanced with AIOLE
Learning Process• Learning tools
– to guide their own learning – to report their learning achievements based
on standards & finally learn independently
• With ICT digitalization on the Web we can– select learning activities, – design their learning plans & – edit the Europass online, reflect on the
Linguistic Biography and make the eDossier
Learning strategies with Media• File Management facilities let users upload
multimedia files:
(Scanned certificates,photos from mobiles)
• Online writing and editing allows designing learning:(taking descriptors and searching the Web for materials to practise the sklls related, organizing the file edition – with WebWriter 2.0)
Conclusion• AIOLE (an interactive learning environment generator)
allows the design of language learning scenarios applying the CEFR recommendations (like in PAMCEL) and implementation of a true 3-fold ePortfolio to be edited online, saving time, money & effort.
• AIOLE PAMCEL is accessible from:• http://www.awlaole.com/aiole
