We were using another program but when you published your new third grade workbook, we of course ordered it. Until this new school year, I can’t begin to tell you what a hard time I had coming up with a clear and concrete Math practice for my students. ABOUT THE iCOUNT METHOD®

After teaching both students and fellow teachers for many years, C. Shoshie Cweiber was determined to fi nd a better way of teaching math- for both the student and the teacher. Using her years of experience, much research and perfecting her model, in 2010, The iCount Method® became a reality.

At fi rst, The iCount Method® was a series of workshops that taught teachers how to teach math successfully using a clear and easy format for teachers to follow. Principals and teachers asked for textbooks that would help them implement The iCount Method® in their classrooms. The iCount Method® series of math workbooks, math fl uency books, math readiness and a myriad of other successful tools to help students succeed in math were then created.

The iCount Method® used in these books and tools is a unique method of building a student’s deeper understanding of procedural fl uency. It goes beyond memorizing and just applying procedures without the student really having an understanding of the concepts. Instead of teaching math by rote, it is centered on comprehension-based strategies that explain the how and why of mathematics at every level- from basic to advanced, one simple step at a time. This system fl ows from the concrete to the semi-concrete to the abstract, using real life scenarios, manipulatives, storytelling, logic and FUN. Students easily see the usefulness and clarity of math because it is taught with real-life situations. This helps them grasp the complex concepts in the core curriculum.

The iCount Method® is now used in over 100 schools throughout the United States. Teachers love teaching, parents enjoy reviewing, and most important- students love learning math.

The success of The iCount Method® is based and built on much experience and hard work. As of this date, C. Shoshie Cweiber has more than 20 years of experience as a mathematics specialist and educator.
