Put all the ingre dient s into a spray bottl e, shake it up a bit, and use asyou would a comme rcial brand . . The soap in this recip e is impor tant. .It cuts the wax resid ue from the comme rcial brand s you might have

used in the past

OVEN CLEAN ER 1 cup or more bakin g soda

WaterA squir t or two of liqui d deter gent

Sprin kle water gener ously over the botto m of the oven, then cover thegrime with enoug h bakin g soda that the surfa ce is total ly white . . Sprinkle some more water over the top. . Let the mixtu re set overn ight. Youcan easil y wipe up the greas e the next morni ng becau se the grime willhave loose ned. . When you have clean ed up the worst of the mess, daba bit of liqui d deter gent or soap on a spong e, and wash the remai ningresid ue from the oven. . VINEG AR DEODO RIZER

Keep a clean spray bottl e fille d with strai ght 5 perce nt vineg ar in yourkitch en near your cutti ng board and in your bathr oom and use them

for clean ing. I often spray the vineg ar on our cutti ng board befor egoing to bed at night , and don' t even rinse but let it set overn ight. Thesmell of vineg ar dissi pates withi n a few hours . Strai ght vineg ar is also

great for clean ing the toile t rim. . Just spray it on and wipe of

MOLD KILLE RS

Tea Tree Treas ureNothi ng natur al works for mold and milde w as well as this spray . . . I'veused it succe ssful ly on a moldy ceili ng from a leaki ng roof, on a musty

burea u, a musty rug, and a moldy showe r curta in. . . Tea tree oil isexpen sive, but a littl e goes a very long way. . . Note that the smell of

tea tree oil is very stron g, but it will dissi pate in a few days

Silve r - Put some water in a pan with a few teasp oons of washi ng

soda, bring to a simme r. . Throw in a littl e piece of alumi num foil, andthen dip your silve r right into the mix. . Pull the item out, dry it off,and shine it clean with a rag

Befor e you work on makin g the floor spark le, they shoul d be clean edwith vineg ar and water . . A small amoun t of vineg ar in a bucke t of

warm water will do wonde rs for your wood floor . . Make sure your flooris seale d and you wring out exces s water befor e moppi ng the floor s,

as too much water could damag e your wood

That all being said, once they are clean , you can now work on makin gthem shine :

- If you have natur al unsea led wood floor s ( which you proba bly don' t) ,you can use linse ed oil with a rag, allow it to soak in for a littl e while ,

and then mop it up with a littl e more oil- For seale d floor s, you can use 1 part white vineg ar to 1 part vegetable oil to give it a great shine . . Just combi ne the two, grab a rag,

and rub it in like you are polis hing a car. . The shine will blow you away

To Clean Appli ances :

Micro waves - Mix 1/2 of water with a few teasp oons of bakin g sodain a micro wave safe bowl. . Put the bowl in the micro wave and run it

for 2 minut es

Take out the bowl and wipe it clean with just a rag; every last spotwill come out!

Ovens - You can rub the insid e of your oven with wet steel wool toremov e the tough stuff , and then sprin kle bakin g soda throu ghout the

oven

Let it sit for a few minut es, then just wipe it all clean with a wet ragall done and no caust ic chemi cals!

Coffe e Maker s - When the coffe e maker is empty , pour in a mixtu reof 1 cup white vineg ar and some hot water to fill up the reser voir to

the top. . Run the coffe e maker like you were makin g coffe e, just without any beans in it.. Once the cycle has finis hed, run it twice more with just plain water , which will rinse out the vineg ar and any build up left

- For red wine stain s, choco late or other dark stain s that have beenthere a while , you can try to soak the item in a bowl of glyce rine, avail

- Party guest spill s red wine on your nice carpe t? Get up as much of itas you can with a wash or dish cloth , then quick ly pour white vineg ardirec tly on the spot. . Let it soak for a few minut es, then rinse it out

To Remov e Mold In The Bathr oom:

You can use Borax and white vineg ar to make a spray that you canaim direc tly at the mold in the tub or showe r. . Once you spray it ,

leave it to sit for 30- 60 minut es and then go back in and wipe it off. .Prest o, the mold will start comin g off and you did not have to inhal e

toxic chemi cals to do so.. Just mix about 2 ounce s of Borax and a cupof white vineg ar and you are ready to go.. As a back up and a maint

enanc e tip, you can also perio dical ly spray the moldy "areas " with straight vineg ar and just let it sit there and soak in.. The vineg ar will kill

the mold that might be growi ng and it will halt the growt h of newmold

- Laven der oil or tea tree oil can be appli ed direc tly to cuts and scrapes where it will cool the pain and help fight infec tion

- Mixin g a few drops of tea tree oil with some water in a spray bottl ecan clean mold in the bathr oom, disin fect the floor after the dog hasan accid ent, or can clean up after your child has been sick (or you,

after a night like the ones in colle ge)

Clean The Air:

For start ers, the easie st way we have found to make thing s smellbette r is to use essen tial oils. . In an empty spray bottl e I mix waterand a bunch of drops from a bottl e of essen tial oils. . Done! You canadjus t the amoun t of drops you put in the bottl e and of cours e youcan alway s chang e the scent any time you want. . Right now I havesome cranb erry scent ed essen tial oil in our water bottl ethe placesmell s amazi ng and it can be spray ed on anyth ing; the couch , the

curta ins, etc

- Anoth er thing you can do is to simme r water on the stove in a potwith cinna mon stick s or essen tial oils in it.. Howev er, since this one

uses natur al gas or elect ricit y, it is not the best choic e

Plus, you have to remem ber to keep your eye on it so it doesn 't burnoff and start catch ing the pot on fire!

- You could also put littl e boxes of bakin g soda aroun d the house toabsor b any bad odors . . We do this for the litte rbox. . Even thoug h our

cat is not exact ly a stink er, the bakin g soda absor bs any stron g smell sthat he might leave behin d. . This also works great in the refri gerat or

to absor b the lefto ver smell from last night ' s chili

- And lastl y, you could alway s get some flowe rs from your local farmer' s marke t and put them in vases aroun d your house . . The smell of fresh flowe rs is alway s a pleas ant one and it leave s behin d no toxic

resid ue like plug- ins and spray s

Unclo g Your Showe r Drain :

Step 1 - Put the DRY bakin g soda down the drain I use about 3/4 of a cup

Step 2 - Pour 1/2 cup of vineg ar down the drain after the bakin gsoda. . Be sure to cover the drain immed iatel y after wards with a rag orplug, filling the hole compl etely so nothi ng can escap e. . This is because the inter actio n of the two will cause a " mini volca no" that will want

to come up and out of the drain . . you want to keep it down there

Step 3 - Leave this conco ction in the drain for about 30 minut esWhile you are waiti ng, boil a tea kettl e full of water

Step 4 - After 30 minut es, remov e the plug and slowl y pour the HOTwater down the drain All done! Your drain shoul d flow smoot hly now

If not, just do it again We norma lly have to do our tub drain oftenbecau se of the wife' s long hair, but it clean s it out every time

Tooth paste ! Yes this works ! Just put some tooth paste on an old toothbrush or wet cloth and go to town. When you' re done polis hing, rinse

the item well in warm water and then dry with a soft cloth .

BONUS TIP: How to keep your drain clog- free witho ut corro siveliqui ds!

1. Put two table spoon s of bakin g soda into/ over the drain of your sinkor tub.

2. Pour one cup of vineg ar on the bakin g soda. (It will fizz a lot donot panic , this is norma l. )

3. Wait about five minut es, and then pour a kettl e of boili ng waterover the soda/ vineg ar resid ue.

them in to any outle t aroun d your home. If you have small children, this won' t work for they can easil y get into the essen tial oilsin the littl e melti ng pot.
