Make a 3-D Surprise Flower
By Growing Smart Readers
Easy Flower to Make for Someone Special!
THANK YOU for choosing this resource.
This is an easy craft for your young students. You can experiment and alter the craft so it works for your students. You may choose to use the patterns as templates, or just print them out on white or colored construction paper. Some pages were created so that you can print out multiples all one color (e.g., green construction paper for leaves). Try cutting out petals and leaves out of fun scrap-booking paper, too.
These large paper surprise flowers make a lovely spring display on your windowsill, or hang as “wall flowers” until they’re given away. They make delightful “gifts” for Mother’s Day or Valentine’s Day, birthday, or just a Happy Spring Day! You can choose to add describing words (character traits of the special person) on the petals. See the directions for the basic flower. Have fun with this paper craft!

Ways to Personalize Your Flower!1. Stand the flowers up on the window sill for an instant garden, or hang on a wall or bulletin board.
2. Make as gifts or “cards” for a special holiday or occasion.
3. Roll up a note or letter to place inside the stem. You can use a paper clip if needed.
4. Add adjectives that describe the special someone. Cut out the words included in this file, or have students write their own.
They may even choose to write sentences instead.
5. Another idea: Place a child’s photo (face) in the center of the flower.
6. To hang on the wall or bulletin board for an instant garden, attach a paper clip on the back and hand on a thumbtack.
