The Razorback Majorettes hold a very special role in the Razorback Marching Band! Not only are they visual contributors on the field but carry the spirit, pride, and tradition of the University of Arkansas! Performing for 80,000+ football fans is one of the many perks to being part of this team! In addition to performing at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville, the Razorback Majorettes have the opportunity to perform at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX, any post-season football games, and at variety of school functions! These special ladies have the honor of being part of long tradition of excellence and truly love cheering on their RAZORBACKS! GO HOGS!

Majorette Line Auditions will be April 18,2020

To audition for the University of Arkansas Majorette line, you must be able to execute the following:

• Toss walk-over/ or cartwheel • Toss illusion- both directions. Clean body lines and proper illusion

technique • Two spins: vertical (catch left/right/backhand) and horizontal (catch right) • Two Baton combinations: (etc: split horizontal/vertical

toss, showers, split backhand/vertical toss) • Three batons: tick tocks, vertical box and horizontal box • Grand jetes (left and right) • Layback • Splits • Advanced understanding of bodywork and low baton combinations • High knee marching in-step

Majorette Tryout Process: Mile Run: Each candidate will be asked to run the mile in 8:30 minutes or less. This will be the first score of the day. A penalty will be given for overtime miles. Downfield Audition: During the downfield portion of the tryout, each candidate will be taught a downfield fight song routine with high knee prancing. This will be memorized by each candidate and judged in groups of two or three. Group audition: During the group audition a 1-1:30 minute routine will be taught by the coordinator and performed in groups of two or three. Candidates will be judged on execution of required tricks and quickness of learning during this portion of the tryout. (Please be prepared to execute any of the required tricks individually if needed.) Prepared Routine: **Each candidate will need to prepare a solo not to exceed 2 minutes. Routine can be constructed to candidate’s choice of music. (Please choose music that is tasteful.) Incorporate personal style as well as some of the required technical skills. **You will be asked to perform this routine ONLY if you successfully complete the Downfield and Group portions of the audition and your number is called. -Please bring 2 copies of music (In CD form only). You will be asked to turn in music if your number is called after group audition. What to wear? Black two-piece outfit. (Athletic shorts, sports bra), tights, and proper twirling shoes. Full performance hair and make-up. **You may bring a jacket to wear during interview. What will the judges look for at auditions? Personal appearance, showmanship, twirling/dance ability, poise, personality, and speaking ability. Interview: Be prepared to introduce yourself, provide an overview of background education, and goals. How many girls will be taken? We will potentially take up to 12 girls. Do current Majorettes have to try-out every year? Yes Scholarship opportunity? Currently Majorettes receive: $1000 scholarship, custom baton bag- first year.

FEATURE TWIRLER TRYOUTS:

The University of Arkansas Razorback Band Feature Twirler is a scholarship position and is filled on an as-needed basis. Video submissions need to be sent into the band office by February 10, 2020. Please send a twirling resume, copy of acceptance letter to U of A, full body photo in uniform along with video to:

**Feature Twirler candidate videos will be reviewed by a selected panel of judges. Chosen candidates will be asked to come for a live audition and interview on April 18, 2020. What will we be looking for: Ability to cover floor with complex gymnastics and leap combinations, intricate baton work, as well as 1, 2, and 3 baton (would love to see 4 baton if able to execute). We want to see spirit, poise, personality, and the ability to WOW the crowd!! Basic Requirements- **Toss double illusion, Toss double walkover, toss illusion/cartwheel or Toss double cartwheel Tossleap/illusion Toss leap/cartwheel OR Toss leap/walkover These are basic requirements to be considered for the Feature Twirler Position. All are subject to different variations as needed. Body work and ability to move around floor/field for an extended period of time. Advanced 2 and 3 baton will be expected as well. Scholarship opportunity: Feature Twirler: $2500 scholarship, and custom baton bag. Increasing $500 every year after meeting guidelines of program.
