מטרת הקורס
מטרת הקורס הינה כפולה: ראשית, להציג בפני הסטודנט את המהפכות שחלו בפיזיקה של המאה העשרים הן בהבנת הטבע והן בהבנת מקומו של המדע כמתאר את הטבע; שנית, על רקע השפה
היום. המדעית החדשה הקורס מציג נושאים נבחרים במחקר בפיזיקה של
תיאור הקורס
של הקורס עוסק במבוא לשתי התורות העיקריות של הפיזיקה במאה העשרים, תורת סמסטר אהיחסות ותורת הקוונטים. תורות אלו הביאו למהפכה בהבנה שלנו את הטבע, ועוד יותר מכך,
בהבנה שלנו את תפקידו של המדע כמתאר את הטבע.
מעיקרה. הקורס מנסה להבהיר את העקרונות הבסיסיים של כל נקודת המבט הינה פילוסופית תורה תוך השוואה בין התורות החדשות לתורה הניוטוניאנית. הקורס שם דגש על האבולוציה בתפיסת תפקידו של המדע כתוצאה מן הגילויים המדעיים. השפה הנלמדת בסמסטר זה תשמש את
הסטודנט בסמסטר ב.
של הקורס מציג בפני הסטודנט נושאים נבחרים במחקר בפיזיקה של היום. הדיון בכל סמסטר בנושא הוא נקודתי ונועד בעיקר להציג את הרקע, את כיווני המחקר כיום ואת הבעיות העיקריות העולות מן הדיון. הנושאים הנידונים הם: תורת האינפורמציה, רשתות נוירונים, מודלים של
מרגנטיות, תורת הכאוס ותורת הרשתות. מטרת הסמסטר הינה להביא את חישוב, תכונות אהסטודנט לרמה בה יוכל להבין את השיח המדעי במספר תחומי מחקר חשובים כיום בפיזיקה
ובתחומים הקרובים לה.
