INTRODUCTION :• Wireless USB is a wireless technology which
enables the high speed computer peripheral interface wireless.
• Wireless USB will be based on the Ultra-Wideband (UWB) & radio efforts by the WiMedia Alliance.
• Wireless USB interest group was formed in 2004.
• Wireless USB has an advanced power management system which consumes very low power.

Introduction Cont…
• UWB supports high bandwidth (480 Mbps) but only at limited
range (~3m).
• Applying this wireless technology to usb frees the user from
worrying about the cables; where to find them, where to plug
them in, how to string them so they don’t get tripped over,
how to arrange them so they don’t look like a mess.
• Wireless USB is used in game controllers, printers, scanners,
digital cameras, MP3 players, hard disks and flash drives.

Reasons For Wireless USB
– Wires are restrictive.– Multiple wires can be a hassle. – Wires slower than wireless solutions.
Inadequacy of current wireless solution
– Bluetooth.
Bandwidth of 3 Mbps not enough for higher demand applications (Video, HDTV, Monitor).
– Wi-Fi. Expensive. Too much power usage for mobile devices.

ARCHITECTURAL OVERVIEW
USB System Description. A USB system consists of a host and some number of devices all operating
together on the same time base and the same logical interconnect. A USB
system can be described by three definitional areas:
• USB interconnect
• USB devices
• USB host
USB interconnect:• Topology
• Data Flow Models
• USB Schedule04/10/2023 7CET DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING
Hub and Spoke topology
Topology : Wireless USB connects USB devices with the USB host using a 'hub and spoke'
model.
The Wireless USB host is the 'hub' at the center, and each device sits at the end of a 'spoke‘.

Features of wireless USB technology: • High performance • Simple, low-cost implementation• An easy migration path• Frequency: 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz (cont.)
• Band Groups 1 & 2: Longer range apps• Bands Groups 3 & 4: Shorter range apps

POWER MANAGEMENT
The power target for WUSB radio will be introduced at less
than 300mW.

SECURITY:• Encryption Methods
The standard method of encryption for the first generation of Wireless USB is AES-128 Counter with CBC- Mac
Wireless USB also supports public key encryption, but only for authentication
The CCM encryption suite provides 128 bits of security for run-time operation.

CONCLUSION: • Wireless USB offers more band width.
• Its power management and security features will enable it to wipe out all the current wireless personal interconnect.
• Ease of installation and usage will makes Wireless USB the
most accepted Wireless technology by the consumers.
