A Sense of PrideAt the Academy we value effort, teamwork and leadership as essential qualities for success.

Our motto ‘No Goal is Beyond our Reach’ and our unswervingly high expectations have contributed to our progress and success.

We are extremely proud of our Senior Students and Subject Prefects from Years 7 – 13. Their voices are making a difference in areas that really matter such as teaching and learning, the provision of clubs and activities, the mentoring and support for new and existing students and the environment and resources available to them.

“ The exceptionally good initiative of the student leadership scheme enables students of all years to assume leadership responsibilities well.”

Realising PotentialHaving been recognised as being in the top 10% of all schools nationally for continuous improvements in our GCSE results, as well as making excellent progress academically we place enormous emphasis on developing the full potential of every learner throughout the school and into our vibrant sixth form.

Our curriculum is well matched to students’ needs, with a wide range of courses available for all abilities, including the most able and students who require additional support in learning. A personalised and diverse curriculum enables us to ensure our learners develop the broad range of skills they need to meet the challenges of the future.

“ Students see it as part of their responsibility to encourage understanding and tolerance for people from different backgrounds.”

A Sense of Belonging

We have a highly effective pastoral system. Each year group has a Head of Learning, a Senior Intervention Tutor and a team of tutors who provide the care, guidance and support that every child needs. Learners have tutor time every day, which is carefully structured to provide a range of essential learning activities including current affairs and citizenship and ensures that any difficulties are resolved quickly.

Although tutor groups are organised in years, our House system is structured vertically enabling students from all ages to work together. This combination provides students with a strong sense of belonging to the community.

We also place high value on our working relationship with our local community, businesses and wider organisations.
