I'm singing some of his music in a program - and it's making me want to kill myself. I LOVE modern and 20th c. music - but only if it's actually well written. Sorry about the rant, but as a singer I'm just so tired of composers who write vocal music and have zero concept of the human voice. I also hate a Gb ang G# in the same measure against some manner of A cluster in the piano etc... Again, atonal music is great, but when it's just strange for the sake of strange and doesn't seem to go anywhere, have any line, and just seems to go against the piano, in general. Bah, I say!!!! performed his symphonic works.

Theron Kirk has held the national office of president of the American Choral Directors Association. He hastaught as a visiting lecturer in the summer program at the University of Southern California, the University ofIllinois, Central Missouri State University College and at the National Music Camp, Interlochen, Michigan, inthe University of Michigan Music Division. Survivors are his wife Carla, three sons Padriac, Kevin, and Sean, two daughters, Laura Reimers and Meaghan Welch, and seven grandchildren. If you so desire, the family hasasked that memorials be sent to the Docent Program at the San Antonio Museum of Art.

We have all been greatly influenced and blessed by the many compositions of TCDA's own beloved TheronKirk. His impact and service will be greatly missed.

Thanks for the info... I'm still not a fan of his music, at least the bit that I've been working on....maybe hisother stuff is a little more skillfully composed.
