THEATRE PLAY OF THE MAIDEN TOWER LEGEND

Once upon a time in the Byzantine times there were a king and her beloved daughter.The

princess’ mother was dead while she was a child. And because of this , the king was very fond

of her daughter. One day the king woke up in horror because of a nightmare.

The King: Watchers.. Watchers ..Sumon the oracle immmediately.

Watchers: For sure excellency.

( Nöbetçiler büyücünün yanına giderler. )

Watchers: The king wants to see you immediately..

The oracle: I ‘m ready we can go.

( Saraya giderler…)

Watchers: We brought the oracle excellency.

King: Okey, leave us alone.

( Nöbetçiler çıkarlar)

King: I saw a very bad dream and I want to know the future. Tell me something about future.

(Falcı, yere çömelir , oturur. Cebinden küçük taşlar çıkarır ve yere atar ve konuşmaya başlar)

Oracle: Your dream is a mark about your daughter’s future. Unfortunately she will die by a

snakebite on her 18th birthday.

King: It can’t be. Impossible. Do something to prevent this , otherwise I will kill you.

Oracle: Nobody can prevent this. It is written in her destiny. If you want , you can kill me,

but it doesn’t help.

King: Watchers…. Get this woman out.

King : What must I do ? What must I do? Watchers, call me the commander.

Watchers: Right away excellency.

Commander: Excellency. ( Başı ile selam verir)

helpers and watchers. Then years and years pass and the 18th birthday of the princess

comes..

King: Today is my daughter’s birthday and I want a basket of the freshest fruits. Prepare it

quickly.

( Meyve sepetini hazırlarlar. Kral sandala biner ve denizdeki kuleye gider)

King: My lovely daughter. Happy birthday to you. ( Kral kızını alnından öper.)

Princess : Thank you father..

King: I brought a basket of the freshest grapes and fruits for you. And this necklace is for you

too. ( Kral kızına güzel bir kolye takar .. Kız sevinir, teşekkür eder. )

Princess: Thank you father. ( O da babasını öper..)

King: Tomorrow I will come again. Enjoy your food and gift..

(Kral çıkar, uzaklaşırken prenses meyve sepetine uzanır, meyveleri yer, o esnada bir yılan kızı

elinden sokar, meğer yılan sepetin içine saklanmıştır. )

Princess: ( Bir çığlık atar …Kral bu sesi duyar ve koşa koşa gelir..)

King: Elly, Elly,my daughter… ( Kral ağlamaya başlar, )

Dış ses: ( Unfortunately , the oracle was right and in spite of the King’s all tryings to save the

princess, he couldn’t change her destiny. And afterwards, the tower was called as the

Maiden’s Tower.)
