When I took over RCMM president ship, I was bit apprehensive, whether I will do justice to the post and prove to be trustworthy! BUT – In the last three months RCMM we have achieved great height in terms of projects and activities, this was possible only with support of all the members, including new entrants. We have nine months more to complete lots of interesting activities, which I am sure, we all will complete with flying colours. The festival of Lord Ganesha and Gauri festival was the highlight of this month. I also celebrated Gauri in a very traditional way and was very happy to receive blessings from Rotary friends at my residence. Our celebration was eco-friendly in line with Rotary’s Swatchha Bharat Yojana. On 24th early morning our District had taken initiative to clean Sea-beaches post Anant Chaturdashi day. It was very sad to see large number of Ganesha idols scattered all over the places, when myself along with Vidula, Sunita joined hands with Rotary’s ‘Clean Beach Abhiyan’ at Dadar Chowpati. On 5th September we successfully conducted Madical Camp at Anandashram under able guidance of Rtns. Dr. Hemangee, Dr. Supriya and Dr. Latika. We also donated physiotherapy equipment to paraplegic Centre at Sion. Beginning of the moth we had Rotary Ki Pathashala joining hands with RC Uptown and RC Mandavi. I am thankful to all the members who attended District events – Teachers Training, PR Seminar, Udan.

Ganesh Festival is one of the most celebrated festival of Maharashtra. It brings in lot of enthusiasm and happiness across all the sections of society. Ganesha, the elephant-headed son of Shiva and Parvati, is the supreme god of knowledge, wisdom, prosperity and good fortune. He is the Lord who is first worshipped before any holy occasion or puja. Many of the RCMM members bring Ganesh Idol and perform puja. We visited them and enjoyed praying to Lord Ganesha!!

Gauri is an avatar of Ma Parvati, mother of Lord Ganesha. However, in Maharashtra, it is believed that Gauri is Ganesha’s sister who comes to visit him. Like her brother, the arrival of Ma Gauri in one’s home represents health, wealth, happiness & prosperity. In fact, Gauri sthapna is done with two idols of Ma Gauri.
