MAGNUM 3G is the result of years of exhaustive research and development, thanks to the use of cutting edge manufacturing technology, and severe testing campaign, this new range of products represents Aliaxis last and most performing generation of thermoplastic compression fittings.

CHARACTERISTICS & BENEFITSFast and easy installationSlide & Tighten™ technologyMAGNUM 3G incorporates all the benefits of Aliaxis Slide & Tighten technology. No pipe preparation is need and no force is required to push the pipe into the body fitting and passing the seal: simply inserting the pipe into the fitting until resistance is felt, and then tighten the nut using the key.

No special tools are required, and there is no need to disassemble the fitting before use, because MAGNUM 3G compression fitting is supplied preassembled and ready to use.

Compact design The dimensions of the new Aliaxis MAGNUM 3G compression fitting are sensibly reduced, the fitting is fitness to use in small spaces.

The connections is obtained with minimal turns of the nut, the design and size of the fitting means that in installations taking place between two fixed points, the manipulation of the pipe into the fitting becomes easy.

Easy disassemblyThe fitting is designed to disassemble from the pipe without no forces: the clinching ring is released as soon as the nut is backed off and the operation of disassembling is easier.

Complete securityDynamic sealing method The initial position of the seal allows insertion of the pipe into the fitting without risk of distortion or displacement. In a second step, the tightening of the nut compresses the seal into its operating position.

Visual stopThe flange on the body of MAGNUM 3G compression fitting provides a visual stop to indicate when the nut is correctly tightened. This is an important help during the installation process.

No loose componentsIf the nut is completely dismantle from the body there is no danger of losing components, as the clinching ring and seal ring are held in the body. The risk to loose components in the trench is completely avoid.

Designed to minimise pipe twist:The fitting is designed to minimize pipe twist as the nut is tightened. Pipe twist can impact on the connection and also on the others connections already present in the pipeline.

This section highlights engineering considerations when designing a PE pipe system with MAGNUM 3G.

Projected life of Compression fittings Whilst MAGNUM 3G conforms to specifications written to have a minimum life of 50 years, its com-pression fittings are intentionally developed to exceed the expecta-tions of these specifications.

Resistance to ImpactThe thermoplastic materials used in the MAGNUM 3G fitting have excel-lent impact properties.

Abrasion ResistanceMAGNUM 3G is suitable for the transport of abrasive slurries, and it will withstand the usual work conditions in urban, mining, indus-trial, rural water and waste water systems

Ratings MAGNUM 3G is cold water rated fitting, rated with a 50 years design life at 1,600 kPa (PN 16) at 20°C

Weathering The materials used contain pigments to provide excellent protection to degradation due to ultra-violet radiations. Continuous use of the MAGNUM 3G fitting in systems above ground is guarantee without additional protection.

Electrolytic Corrosion MAGNUM 3G is not magnetizing and does not cause electrolytic deterioration.

Thermal Insulation Polypropylene has natural thermal insulation of 2000 times over copper and 200 times over steel.

Light Transmission The MAGNUM 3G does not transmit light, thus protecting the water quality in potable water pipelines from growth of microorganisms.

Effect on Water MAGNUM 3G does not impart to water any odor, taste, color, or any constituents in concentrations that could be injurious to health.

Fluids other than Water MAGNUM 3G may convey a wide variety of fluids. Contact technical department for information on specific applications.

WORKING PRINCIPLE

Fitting is pre-assembled ready to use in the open position with 2 threads showing.

Clearance between the pipe and fitting allows for easy insertion of the pipe.

Seal, which is in relaxed position.

The pipe sits against the tapered wedge, which minimizes pipe rotation.

Clinching ring bites into the pipe providing end load resistance.

The fitting is correctly connect when nut meets flange of the body (visual stop indicator).

Nut and then clinching ring has fully compressed the seal.

Seal ring compression is achieve by exploiting the mechanical advantage of the nut thread.

MAGNUM 3G d.16-63mmSeries of fittings with internal components mechanically retained together (into the body) in order to avoid any possible loss when installed, zero interference system to allow the free insertion to polyethylene pipes from d.16 up to d.63mm.

“SLIDE & TIGHTEN” EXCLUSIVE EASY INSERTION & HYDRO MECHANICAL SEALING SYSTEMMAGNUM 3G compression fittings make use of the “Slide & Tighten” low interference hydro-mechanical sealing system. This special system guaran-tees the insertion of pipes inside the fittings with very low manual effort and a complete operational safety. Once the pipe is inserted, the progres-sive tightening of the nut forces the pressure compressing the gasket, ensuring the water tight sealing and adjusting possible problems due to ovalized or under dimensioned pipes. The gasket functionality and the hydraulic sealing are preserve thanks to an appropriate compression.

“SLIDE & TIGHTEN” EXCLUSIVE EASY INSERTION & HYDRO MECHANICAL SEALING SYSTEMThe MAGNUM 3G large bore series combines the Slide & Tighten hydro-mechanical sealing system with the special NUT-IN solution, which retains the sealing components within the nut. The dynamic sealing system is obtained by the special design of the compression chamber that guarantees a complete absence of interference between the pipe and the sealing gasket.

This technical feature allows the free insertion of pipes and reduces the installation times. Once the pipe is insert, tightening progressively the ring nut up to the last thread, the pressure bush forces the gasket to its final appropriate compression chamber. When functioning under pressure, the clinching ring detaches from the pressure bush to reach the correct working position even during very critical laying conditions.

MAGNUM 3G system with makes your life easy: no need to dismantle the fitting to install or uninstall, and all the components remains into the nut. Thanks to this high integrity, there are no falling parts from the fitting during the hand managements.

1. Cut Pipe Square Cut the pipe square. There is no need to prepare the pipe end, check the pipe is free from foreign material or burrs. Chamfering or lubrication is not required.

2. Ready to Use Position The fitting is pre-assembled and ready to use, however always ensure the nut is fully relaxed, 2 threads are showing before inserting the pipe.

3. Pipe Insertion Insert the pipe until resistance is felt. Do not force the pipe.

4. Nut Tightening Tighten the nut by hand and then firmly with a wrench. Tighten the nut until it just touches the body stop end (visual indicator).

5. Check for Correct Installation Ensure the nut is tighten and no gap exists from the nut end to the compression fitting body stop end (visual indicator). Now the fitting is correctly install. Make sure do not over tighten nut after reaching the body flange.

6. Disassembly To disassemble the fitting, simply loosen the nut using a wrench until 2 threads are showing. Pipe will be free, and can be simply pull out of the fitting.

MAGNUM 3G d. 75-110 mmINSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. Cut Pipe SquareClean the pipe end and ensure it is free from burrs. Chamfering or lubrication of pipe is not required.

2. Ready to Use PositionThe fitting is pre-assembled and ready to use, however always ensure that 3 threads are showing before proceeding.

3. Witness Mark the PipeIn the ready to use position lay the pipe against the fitting with the end of the pipe lined up with the flange of the body. Witness mark the section of pipe that is long side the nut opening.

4. Pipe InsertionInsert the pipe up to the witness mark, or if not using a witness mark until the first point of resistance is felt.

5. Nut TighteningTighten the nut by hand and then firmly with a wrench.

6. Fully InstalledNow the fitting is correctly install.

MAGNUM 3G threaded fitting bodies are molded with high performance engineering plastic material, which delivers significant benefits.

Less Friction MAGNUM 3G threaded fittings require significantly less effort to install. The use of high performance plastic that provide far less friction than metal/metal threads.

New Approach to Installation MAGNUM 3G fittings drives in a new era of threaded connection. The high performance materials conform to slight irregularities in metal threads, whereas metal/metal connections tend to bind themselves by increasing the installation effort.

Smaller Lighter tools A simple set of multi-grip pliers has be used to install a MAGNUM 3G threaded fitting. No need to use a large wrench to install and tighten a threaded fitting.

Proven Performance MAGNUM 3G threaded fittings are built tough and are used worldwide by water companies, civil contractors, plumbers and in irrigation applications.

Example - Male Adapter into a metal valve

1. Apply PTFE tape or suitable sealant to the plastic thread a quantityto ensure a watertight seal.

2. Using hand, screw the thread of the Male Adapter into the valveuntil firm.

3. Grip the body of the MAGNUM 3G fitting with Multi-grips or similarplumbing tools and continue to screw the male adapter into thevalve until tight. Stop if the shoulder of the MAGNUM 3G fittingstouches the valve.

Note: It is recommend the use of PTFE tape on threads to ensure a positive seal. If a liquid or paste sealant is used, ensure it is suitable to be use with material of MAGNUM 3G and the material connected to the fitting.

MAGNUM 3G BRASS d.20-63 mmSeries of transition fittings with element brass threaded molded in the polypropylene body, suitable to join hydraulic equipment and threaded metal pipes with polyethylene pipes from d.20 up to d.63mm.

MAGNUM 3G BRASS “Material Coherency”The transition fitting with metal/plastic body MAGNUM 3G brass series, gives the advantage of an increased mechanical resistance of the threaded joints between hydraulic equipment and metal pipes to PE pipes, exploit-ing the easy and quick installation system of mechanical compression fittings.

The nickel-plated brass threaded insert, available in both male and female version, is molded in the polypropylene body and consequently has a per-fect anchorage to the body of the fitting.

The threaded insert is internally PP coated for the protection of the fluid and it is equipped with a special edge to enhance the sealing of the threaded connections.

MAGNUM 3G brass would provide a coherent jointing metal-to-metal threads, in addition with the plastic-to-plastic connection with PE pipe.

REINFORCING BUSH AND TIGHTENING KEYS

The reinforcing bush are used to reinforce the pipe PE100 (SDR11) e PE-X, to elong the lifetime of the pipeline and to reduce the collapse risk of the pipe in disadvantages conditions.
