First off we would love to thank our amazing volleyball team who played their hearts out all sea-
son and came within one set of the championship game. Good job lady Eagles we’ll
get them next year.
Congratulations are in order for the flag football team who won MSA 4’s first ever
WLACSL Championship. Our Eagles had a great undefeated season which was
capped off by a nail biting championship game in which MSA4 beat MSA6 by the score of 12-
6. The team was 8-0 overall and brought home the gold. Please stop by the office anytime you can to take
a look at our B-E-A-Utifull Championship Trophy.
We will be participating in the second annual Magnolia Public Schools Soccer Tournament. This competi-
tion will be held between the MSA’s (1-6, and 8) and the Pacific Technology School of Or-
ange County. We will have 13 players representing our school and would love to
see some fans out there as well. This event is open to all who would like to attend.
Food and other goodies will be sold at the tournament so bring your enthusiasm
and your wallets. It will be a day full of fun, excitement, and hopefully no red cards.
We will provide a safe and hospitable environment for the soccer players and their families
to enjoy this upcoming Saturday December 11th. The games will be all day from 8am to 3pm
at MSA3 Carson 1254 East Helmick St., Carson, Ca 90746 , so we hope to see you there!
We are having a 5K Run/Walk to help raise money for our Athletic and
Physical Education Departments. Students will get sponsored, through dona-
tions or pledges and will run or walk 5 kilometers, 3.1 miles, between the
hours of 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Friday December 17th. Parents please
ask your students to get sponsors in order to qualify for all the prizes (4) and
medals (21) that are going to be awarded to some of the participants. All stu-
dents that are present will have to participate in the 5 Kilometer run/walk in
some way regardless of if they raise money or not. Positive Coolsis points and
extra credit in P.E. is also being offered to all those students who raise $20 or
more and complete the 5K Run/walk. Parents are welcome to attend. We will

On November 14th, 2010, my teacher Mr. Deniz , my teammate Jesse Valore ,
and I went to Blockhead Lego Competition at Canada High School. At the end
of the competition we won in 5th place out of 28 teams and got a special award
for our robot. Our robot won the award for being the only robot in the competi-
tion that was able to multitask and the judges thought that was pretty cool. Now
we have to improve our robot for the upcoming competitions.

Chess Tournament - Mr. Deniz
Our chess team (Jesse Valore (8B) and Jordan Keligond (8A)) successfully
participated in the 2nd Annual Magnolia Schools Veterans Day Chess Tourna-
ment in San Diego. The tournament took place in an exciting atmosphere where
MSA students competed each other by playing several games. The tournament
ended with an amazing speech of a war veteran. Thanks to MSA San Diego for
organizing such an inspirational and motivating event.
Canned Food Drive - Ms. Daco
This past November, The Associated Student Body (ASB) had its 1st Annual
Canned Food Drive and was very successful. Our goal was to collect 500 cans
but we surpassed our goal. With the students' efforts, over 675 cans were col-
lected and donated to Salvation Army in Santa Monica.
Here at MSA-4, we encourage our students to build a stronger community
whether on campus, in their neighborhood, or any other type of community.
Thank you to everyone who participated.
Thanksgiving - Ms. Daco
We would like to thank all MSA-4 Parents who brought food and helped
us celebrate the Thanksgiving Holiday with a special potluck luncheon. We
also want to take this opportunity to recognize our Parent Task Force (PTF).
Thank you so much for all your efforts in organizing this terrific event. It
definitely gave us a chance to get together, to enjoy each other's company,
and to sharpen our school culture.

November brought an exciting end to the girls volleyball season. Our Eagles team took sec-
ond place in the league then suffered a narrow defeat in the first round of playoffs. The girls
played great season long and have all improved on individual levels. We are all very proud of
these girls who worked hard and represented MSA out on the court. Great job ladies!
In the last few weeks students have been working hard in history class. 7th
grade students completed their unit on West Africa. They also took turn be-
ing griots, or African story tellers. Students had the opportunity to write
their own West African folk story then perform it to the class. Students had
fun sharing their knowledge of West African culture and history as they
acted out their stories.

AMSP - Ms. Cheng
AMSP students have been working hard all year and are very excited for our
AMSP Winter Camp from December 17-21 at the University of Nevada, Las
Vegas. Our students have been running our Student Store, selling school sup-
plies and nutritional snacks to raise money for this and other needs. We have
had many parents and students who have been extremely supportive of our en-
deavors and we are very grateful for that. AMSP will be having a Holiday Party
on December 11th.

8th and 9th grade students have jumped into the heart of Algebra I. As the
material starts getting more difficult, assignments will begin to take longer
and frustrations may begin to rise. This is when good time-management, a
strong work-ethic, and active engagement in learning is critical to a student's
success. Thursday tutoring is reserved for 8th and 9th graders. Students who
need additional support are welcome to come to Monday tutoring (which is
reserved for 6th and 7th graders) as long as space permits.

Natural Wonder (Turkey)
Maiden’s Tower (Turkey)
We are excited to be offering our 3rd Annual Europe Trip! This
tradition at our school provides an amazing opportunity for our stu-
dents to travel the world and learn about the history, culture and life
in other countries.
Last year, we were lucky enough to travel with 9 students, 3 parents
and 3 teachers from the entire MSA community to France and Tur-
key. We saw the beautiful city of Paris from the Eiffel Tower,
toured the Louvre Museum and visited the historic Notre Dame Ca-
thedral. From there, we flew to Istanbul and began a week-long
journey through 3 cities in Turkey, visiting cultural and historical
sites, sampling local foods, enjoying the overwhelming hospitality
of local families and enjoying the beautiful scenery.
This year, we look to build on this wonderful experience by having
our trip be an MSA4 special. We will be traveling first to the city of
Rome in Italy, where we will spend the weekend taking in the rich
history and the delicious food of Rome. From there we will fly to
Turkey and explore the city of Istanbul and other cities in northern
Turkey along the Black Sea. We will see the sights, enjoy the cul-
ture, experience the legendary hospitality of Turkey and have an
unforgettable journey together. There are some key points to know
before deciding to apply for this trip:
A MINIMUM of 50+ positive points is
needed to be considered for the trip!
Students with a 3.5+ GPA OR 150+ posi-
tive points will receive a $100 discount!!!
