MagneSeal Dryer Installation Reference Guide Thank you for your interest in the MagneSeal Dryer vent system. Our Installation guide is designed to help you choose which system and installation type is right for you and your home. There are three primary installation types that will be covered in this guide, a diverted interior wall installation, a diverted exterior installation, and a through the wall installation. Diverted Interior Wall Installation: The Diverted MagneSeal can be installed to vent in any direction. Below are cut away pictures showing the installation process for up, down, left or right. Above is an example of a downward diverted installation. This type of installation would be used when you a trying to vent your dryer down through the floor to allow for venting out an exterior wall. Below is the inverse, or upward diversion used to vent your dryer up through the floor and out through an exterior wall. This type of diversion could be used, for example, when your dryer is below ground. MagneSeal Dryer Vent Hook-Up Installation Reference Guide 1 of 7

MagneSeal Dryer Installation

Reference Guide

Thank you for your interest in the MagneSeal Dryer vent system.

But probably the most common diversion installation is the diverted left or right, used when the dryer is installed against an interior wall and diversion is required to reach an exterior vent source.

Now lets look at a sample installation in new construction. These pictures were taken in a greater Olympia area Habitat for Humanity home using a MagneSeal system donated to the nonprofit.

To make the most of the available floor space the dryer is being installed under a staircase, because the dryer will be installed up against an interior wall rather than an exterior a diverted left installation is required. Diversion is occurring to the left, as that is the exterior wall (note the vent hold cut into the dry wall, close up below.)

With the diversion type determined the distance is measured and dryer placement is determined. Ridged venting is installed to the correct offset and the diverted MagneSeal is aligned to bridge the gap between venting and dryer placement. (See Below)

Once the MagneSeal is correctly in place it can be framed into the drywall. The finished installation is pictured below. Once the family moves in the dryer will simply be pushed into place in the laundry area without any additional installation or tools required.

Exterior Diverted Installation: However perhaps an installation takes place where interior wall placement is not possible or practical. This is where the offset kit comes into play. Below is a cut away showing the installation of an offset kit with the diverted boot kit.

From this point the installation is fundamentally the same as the in the wall, the MagneSeal is connected to ridged venting that is then configured to allow exterior venting. It should be noted that space allowances would have to be made to accommodate the clearance for venting at the back of the unit.

Through the Wall Installation: Finally we come to the simplest type of installation, the through the wall boot kit. In this situation the dryer is already installed on an exterior wall at the appropriate height and all that is required is the installation of the MagneSeal out the existing vent hole and attachment to the dryer. (See cut away below)
