Leadership Skills

Over the course of the three-day Magic Bus Programme, the students cultivated a variety of skills that can be utilised by them long after the duration of the trip. They learnt about emotions and how to control them and face practical situations that put them face to face with their fears, apprehension and anxiety. Knowledge can be imparted in various ways, but one of the most lasting methods is through gaining hands on experience. While school can take care of the theoretical realm, it is places like the Magic Bus Centre which teach us about qualities like personal leadership, empathy and much more through practical activities. According to Hitaishi Grover, the Course Leader of the Magic Bus Centre, Experiential Learning and

Experiential Education

Experiential Education are two very different things. We learn to walk and to eat by ourselves and that Experiential "Learning". On the other hand the values that were inculcated during the activities on this trip are Experiential "EDUCATION". It purposefully engages learners in direct experience and focused reflection in order to increase knowledge, develop skills, clarify values, and develop people's capacity to contribute to their communities.

An Insightful Journey

The students actually felt that they had accomplished targets after the meticulous planning and applying their Decision Making Skills adequately. 'Think before you act' is a concept that they will apply for life hence.

The sky is the not the limit when one successfully conquers his fear..... And this promise was in the air during all three days at the Camp.

Amidst the several skills that were honed the students realized that perseverance and patience is very essential to face any challenge.

Rock climbing required individuals to analyse and identify all the crucial holds that help in shaping the path of an uneven and complicated journey. The Low Rope course gave the groups a variety of challenges which required the entire group to stand with its players through each obstacle course. The team required to empathise with its members. Stepping Stones was an activity where, strategising communication and awareness of the surrounding were crucial. This game helped a lot of teams achieve a good rapport amongst all team members. Animal treat was a game that seemed to be a remarkably simple task but turned out to be a rather puzzling and thorough brain teaser. The game taught the students about being positive in their outlook and the importance of staying calm and composed even in most pressurised times. The final activity was 'Eggs Can Fly' which revolved around the communication and brain - storming amongst the group.

An Experience that will Last a Life-Time

Three days at the Magic Bus Camp have resulted in immense behavioural, emotional and psychological changes. The myriad activities that were encompassed with thrill and adventure helped the students grow at an intellectual level. Rappelling taught the students about the vitality of taking 'the first step' which is often the hardest in all situations and challenges. This task simplifies itself as we move ahead step-by-step shedding all our fears.

Finding our Groups –

United we stand

This requires all participants to be vocal about their ideas and thoughts and be open to others views in order to work together and to save a life. In totality the students were away from home bereft of their comfort zone, social media and other distractions proved to be highly relaxing and blissful for them. Inculcation of values augmented with every activity that would help them with all future endeavours. These were indeed cherishable moments for the students.
