Up in Smoke... Cigar Review: Camacho

American Barrel-Aged

Since its announcement merely a month and a half ago, the Camacho American Bar-

rel-Aged has quickly become one of, if not, the most anticipated cigar release of 2015.

The cigar is among a growing list of new prod-

ucts to incorporate whiskey into the blend. And

while barrel-aging cigars is not a new practice, it

certainly hasn’t been done as dramatically, with

as much emphasis being placed on the barrel

and spirit. Brands are still in the experimental

phase though, with some aging raw tobacco in

the barrels, while others age fully rolled cigars.

Some are aged for days, others – months, etc.

We’re on the frontier of what seems to be the next big phase in cigar crafting; as with

the craft beer industry, the widespread notion is that just about anything is better

when barrel-aging is applied – it’s a theory I

sure don’t mind exploring…

On June 15th, 2015, Camacho will enter the

ring of this magical marriage between whis-

key and cigars. I should specify, not just any

whisky – bourbon whiskey! The Camacho

American Barrel-Aged cigars take a unique

approach here, opting to use nearly 100%

American tobaccos in conjunction with the bourbon barrels – bourbon being a dis-

tinctly American product. Interestingly, the only tobacco that isn’t American,

Camacho’s exclusive Corojo, is the leaf that undergoes the barrel-aging process.

Top 10... Best Action Movies on NETFLIX Streaming

1. Pulp Fiction

Director: Quentin Tarantino

Still Quentin Tarantino’s greatest accomplish-

ment, Pulp Fiction rehashes a handful of other

great gangster movies to form a modern master-

piece.

2. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

Director: George Roy Hill

Paired with Robert Redford, Paul Newman tore

into his part as the folk outlaw Butch Cassidy and

created an instant touchstone of the genre.

3. Reservoir Dogs

Director: Quentin Tarantino

Reservoir Dogs’ debut at the 1992 Sundance Film Festival launched not only the

career of one Quentin Tarantino but an American indie genre unto itself charac-

terized by extreme violence, profane dialogue, nonlinear storytelling and a curat-

ed soundtrack.

4. The Avengers

Director: Joss Whedon

While Joss Whedon smartly recognizes how key Robert Downey Jr.’s Stark is to

the story, he also allows most all of his cast, heroes and villain, ample opportuni-

ties to shine, both in dialogue and action. (Hawkeye and Nick Fury, not so

much.)

Designing your Man

Cave By ManThatCave.com

Designing Your Man Cave Bar Ah, the man cave. It sounds like a deceptively simple concept, but in reality the possi-bilities for yours are virtually endless. This is the space you go when you want to get away from the world for a quiet interlude, but it's likely also the place you head when the guys are coming over for a night of who-knows-what and plenty of carousing.

Nothing facilitates either of these scenarios better than a man cave bar; you can stock it with all your favorite drinks, it'll help you stay organized, and it also creates its own unique social zone inside the cave where friends congregate.

Plus, you can also use it to enhance the overall décor theme in your space or use a custom solution that fits a smaller ar-ea. If you're looking into equipping your cave with its own mini tavern, consider some of the following design ideas to help you along in the process.

Planning and Placing

If you're just starting out with your design developments and have the budget to re-model or build your cave, you might want to consider installing a custom-built op-tion that looks like it was meant for your space. If you're thinking of something that doesn't stick out too far or claim too much floor space, a wall bar is a great design—your buddies can simply walk up to it and make their own drinks.

Top 10... Taste Test: The Best Domestic Beers

1. Best Classic Beer

Brooklyn Lager: Golden-brown and intense, this beer has a bold, nutty flavor that

"lingers -- in a good way," one taster said. It can stand up

to hearty fare like beef burgers or ribs without over-

whelming. ($10 for a six-pack) http://

2. Runner-Up: Classic Beer

Samuel Adams Boston Lager

3. Best Low-Calorie Beer

Bud Light Lime: "This is so flavorful, I had no idea it was light," said one male pan-

elist who normally shuns light beers. Thanks to the crisp lime fla-

vor, it would be a good partner for Mexican fare like fish tacos or

veggie fajitas. ($6.99 for a six-pack) http://

4. Runner-Up: Low-Calorie Beer

Michelob Light http://www.michelob.com/

5. Best Fruity Beer

Abita Purple Haze: This is beer? Made with raspberries, it smells and tastes more

like a fruity, slightly wheaty soda. "Even non- beer drinkers will love it!" raved a

taster. Serve with sweets or cheese. ($7.99 for a six-pack) http://www.abita.com/

Famous Man Caves... Theodore Roosevelt’s Trophy Room

After Theodore Roosevelt’s Dakota cattle business failed, he came back East to

New York and built a home in Oyster Bay, NY. He called his estate Sagamore Hill,

and he lived there until he died (with a

stint in the White House, of course). It was

where Roosevelt would go to relax, romp

in the woods, and revitalize his man spirit.

The crowning manly jewel of the house

was TR’s trophy room where he kept his

collection of wild game he had hunted in

Africa and throughout the American West.

The

room

has a

high ceiling and is filled with rich, dark Philip-

pine camagon woodwork. A perfect place for

the manliest president to read a book about ad-

venture in the grasslands or to entertain guests

and dignitaries.

The three-story home built in 1885 and

named by Roosevelt after the Indian

chief Sagamore Mohannis has 15 bed-

rooms and three bathrooms, as well as

sitting rooms, offices and a large porch.

It sits on 83 acres (34 hectares) high

atop a hill overlooking an inlet that leads

to the Long Island Sound, about 35

miles (56 kilometers) east of Manhattan.
