Designing Hansen UnitAl
Before we started our first unitised project we had undertaking a number of semi unitised projects. Examples of which are the Copper Tower and Marriott Hotel both in Copenhagen.
The system with copper externally and aluminium internally needed to be 100 % pre-fabricated in a controlled environment due to risk of corrosion of the two materials.
Distribution into the building was by tower crane to each level before next floor slab was installed.
Elements of the systems were installed from the inside utilising specialist equipment.

Designing Hansen UnitAl
The first project utilising a fully unitised system was the headquarter of Deloitte in Copenhagen.
5700 m2 double facade
500 elements 2,8 x 3,8 m
The installation was carried out by 2 teams achieving production rate of approx. 40 elements pr. day
Elements are installed by a crane crab hanging from a rail fixed at roof level.
The Copenhagen Atrium provided us with a lot of know-how in relation to the functionality of the system we now introduce as:
Hansen UnitAl8

Hansen UnitAl
Hansen UnitAl – Facts
• 100 % pre-fabricated elements in a factory controlled environment.• Factory assembly facilitates excellent quality in the product.• Flexibility in the product to enable project specific design solutions.• Far better control throughout the process. The speed at which the elements are
installed often requires all of the elements to be completed in the factory when installation commences at site. This means that all decisions relative to the work must be in taken prior to production commencing.
• Approved testing up to 2000 Pa in test rig at our laboratory.• Experience of installing 800 m² of facade in a single day.• Advantage of continuous production in the factory.• No need for the Main Contractor to provide temporary weather protection to the
building.• Better health and safety on site – less installation labour required than for
traditional stick curtain walls. • Main Contractors are able to commence following works much earlier in the
process.
