Splits and Alignments

• C-G-2 Feet TB-feet at 4 yards behind OC.

• G-T-2 Feet WB-1 yard outside TE, 1 yard back.

• T-TE-3 Feet DB-4.5 yards back behind inside leg of OT.

Page 4: Madison Wing t

Position Requirements

• In the Madison Power Wing Offense you need to have two quality offensive linemen.

• We build our line from left to right.• We encourage our linemen to use a 4-

point stance.

Page 5: Madison Wing t

End

• 8 End - Less physical of the 2 ends. Better receiver than the 9 end. Must be able to double team block and block out one-on-one. Good hands and decent speed, will be a home-run type of receiver.

Page 6: Madison Wing t

Right Tackle

• Right Tackle- Less physical of the two tackles, but must be able to control a man one-on-one. Will usually block out and will block the inside Linebacker on traps and counters. Good movement is helpful, will pull on 26 counter.

Page 7: Madison Wing t

Right Guard

• Right Guard- Less physical of the two guards. Must be able to neutralize the DT. Will usually have good angles. Good movement is a plus because of scoop blocking and blocking Linebackers. Will pull on 31Bootleg Pass at times.

Page 8: Madison Wing t

Center

• Center - Must be able to neutralize a NG. Able to receive help from guards with scoop and double team blocking. If center is capable of blocking alone then we have a huge advantage on the LOS. A good Center will then be used to reach to the play side A gap on almost every play.

Page 9: Madison Wing t

Left Guard

• Left Guard- Must be an effective one-on-one blocker, will receive very little help. Needs enough agility to pull on 30 Cross.

• Must make a dent in the LOS on every play.

Page 10: Madison Wing t

Left Tackle

• Left Tackle- Needs to be the best one-on-one blocker. Needs enough agility to pull and handle moving defenders.

• Must make a dent in the LOS on every play and be able to handle any defender.

Page 11: Madison Wing t

End

• 7 End - The most physical End. Needs to be able to block a DE one-on-one and block down on a DT. Good hands and decent speed are a bonus because they will be a possession receiver. Most athletic linemen type player.

Page 12: Madison Wing t

Backfield

• The Madison Power Wing is a four back offense.

• Blocking-Faking-Hard Running are keys to being a Madison back.

• Backs must want to score on every play.

Page 13: Madison Wing t

Quarterback

• Quarterback (1 Back)- Good ball handling, faking, and footwork. Mature enough to handle pressure and not to flinch. Bonus player if they can throw play action and run option.

• All he has to do is run the offense.

Page 14: Madison Wing t

Running Backs

• Halfback (2 Back)- Good speed and running ability. Must be able to lead block on belly and option. Physical enough to block a LB or DE with a running start. Will run the sweep, belly, and counter. Must be able to make someone miss.

Page 15: Madison Wing t

Running Backs

• Tailback (3 Back)- Tough player who must gain respect of the interior of the defense.

• Must dent the LOS on every play as either a runner, faker, or blocker.

Page 16: Madison Wing t

Running Backs

• Halfback/Wingback (4 Back)- Good speed with enough toughness to run off-tackle full speed. Home-run position with a lot of big play opportunities. Must be able to double team block with the 1 End and block inside LB with an angle. Will run the counter, belly and option.

Page 17: Madison Wing t

Series Breakdown

• Each series in our offense has a specific backfield action and blocking scheme.

• Our passing game will be based off of play-action and a 5 step series.

Terminology

• Gap – Block anyone threatening your inside gap

• On – Drive block anyone that lines up anywhere between your shoulders

• Scoop A/B & Cut – Lateral step to the corresponding gap and cut anyone who tries to penetrate it

• Trap – Short lateral step to 1st man outside of hole, try to knock them off of their feet; The trapper always goes second

• Pull – Large lateral step to get behind linemen, sprint to location parallel to LOS

Page 36: Madison Wing t

Belly Series

Page 37: Madison Wing t

Belly Series

• Critical series to our rushing attack.
