At yesterday’s Cross Country meet in Flat Rock against all 11 teams in our conference the Madison team once again performed well. In a field of 130 runners, Garrett Anders moved his way up to a 22nd place finish. He and Jack Brazil both set new personal best times. The girls ran in a field of 165 runners. Hannah Sawyer finished in 6th place. Indigo Hollister, Amelia Lanier, Shelby Jenkins, and Calli Hensley joined Hannah in securing a 5th place overall finish for the Patriot girls. Camille Hoffman and Skyla Ward set new personal best times.

Congratulations to all the athletes for their races!

In June of 1776 Betsy Ross sewed the first American flag a few weeks before

the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. It has gone through many changes since. The NC flag was not designed until we seceded from

the Union in 1861. In 1885, it was drastically changed from that flag to the one we have today.

Take a look at each of the flags on the pole out front sometime. Mr. Rice leads us in the Pledge of

Allegiance each day and does it slowly in order to show pride and reverence to the flag.
